Den invigdes av dåvarande sjukvårdsminister Bo Königsmark, som en av de första privata vårdcentralerna i den då nya husläkarreformen. Verksamheten har sedan dess bedrivits genom vårdavtal med Hälso- och sjukvårdsnämnden och är sedan oktober 2009 en vårdcentral i VG Primärvård. Hönö vårdcentral ligger i Göteborgs norra skärgård i Öckerö kommun.
