I used to love this game but now I can’t even complete the next task because it won’t let me smelt it

I’ve been playing for several months daily and truly enjoy this game. I have had a couple of problems with it. It has, on several occasions, taken gold from me but not applied it to the item I was paying. Also, the prices increase much faster than the gold output, even though I continually upgrade all of my items, farm help, all the things.
