If you’re a tripod shooter with large and heavy cameras or just want to find the right view, this is a great tool and matches virtually any format and provides an endless string of lens sizes. Where was this 30 years ago when I was lugging my Arca Swiss and Schneider 400 mm lens across the terrain?!

At first I balked at the $30 price. But it seemed to do exactly what I needed and the other reviews were good so I bought it. I am extremely impressed. I use it to scout for shooting locations. I can see what different cameras look like with different lenses. It captures gps data so I can find my way back carrying just the gear I need.

I shoot several formats of film with a variety of equipment and often the setup time is a consideration. I have relied on this app to help me check the composition With various lenses in these formats for years and it has saved me a lot of time and even wasted film. In regards to the latter, if I were to go through the motions of setting up something like my 8x10 view camera, I might be inclined to expose a couple of sheets of film even though the image may not be as refined as I want.
