User Reviews and Ratings
★★★☆☆Limited database
Concept is great but literally these are from google search. Most are paid digging sites. Not many listed in California :(
★★☆☆☆No New England Love
Absolutely zero sites in all of New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine). That is disappointing. The photos probably come from the public domain, but the developers should do some better searching for higher res photos. Also, much more mineral specimens and information would be nice. The photos don't look sharp at all on the iPad.
★★★★☆My review
This app is great all it needs is better pictures but it's really hand especially when your going camping or diving
★★☆☆☆Lacks information
Truly a poor example of a rock encyclopedia. This app could be improved easily by adding diagnostic characteristics of each of the minerals (hardness, streak, cleavage, luster). Instead, a select few minerals are listed, with a paragraph description.
If you are looking for something to study from, this is NOT your app.
★★★★☆Worth it!
Not the most comprehensive mineral encyclopedia, but DEFINATELY worth it just for the map of known sites to hunt :)
