Simple stuff like not being able to flank unless you have a giant free area, veteran units still getting wiped by non vet units, basic stuff that you should be able to use to win fights is poorly or not implemented.
Especially the flanking is horrible. The whole concept of the Roman cohort was to allow units to be flexible and take advantage of opportunity but in this game you need a square mile of empty space to maneuver.
Musket smoke got it right this game is just frustrating.

★★☆☆☆Defending the Walls Against this Update
Good game - horrible update being applied across all Hexwar Ancients and Civil War titles.
New speedy animations look ridiculous.
Cannons move like they are on ATVs. weeeeee !!!
Heavy troops like Hoplites now speed walk like a perky fitness trainer in yoga pants.
Hexwar - please put one more level of speed down so that there is an option for heavy troops and equipment to move more realistically like they once did.
★★★★☆Well-Rounded Game
Normally I’m not the biggest fan of ancient warfare, but I found this game to be exceptional in terms of content and gameplay. While I do feel like there are a few missed opportunities, or a few overly easy or impractically difficult scenarios, much of the game itself has a lot to offer and I’d definitely recommend it over a lot of the other ancient warfare games. Kinda wish we could play around with the 300-400 AD units though…I’d like to see a remake of the Chalons or Adrianople maps.
