I’d suggest to the developers this: instead of making the background of the canvas a layer, instead have the background be uneditable unless specified, or give artists the ability to activate multiple reference layers! This would make the app perfect, 1000%!

ArtStudio does everything I want plus uncounted things I haven’t tried. They keep it well updated and advanced. I follow. Their online manual is thorough. Easy export to all my formats and destinations. Handles huge files at a variety of resolutions. Layer handling superb. Filters, adjustments comprehensive. Fine brush variety, color selection methods.
