Get your California traffic information directly from the source. The Caltrans QuickMap app displays a map of your location along with real-time traffic information including:
- Freeway speed
- Traffic camera snapshots
- Lane closures
- CHP incidents

So so helpful, especially for tricky mountain roads and winter conditions. Knowing where chain control, accidents, etc are located is a life saver. Details about accidents help me decide whether to wait it out, go around, or stay the course. Google Maps could never.
★★★☆☆Disappearing App
I have used this app for well over a year. Yesterday, the app refused to stay open. I click on the icon, the app pops open, then immediately shuts down. I have tried reloading the app four times, and rebooting my phone twice. It has not helped. What the heck is going on? It’s not of any use if it doesn’t stay open.
