I love the idea of task rabbit. Lots of damages to home though and task rabbit fails to help-they retaliate instead. Be careful.

The app is strange. They first charge you then connect you with the tasker. They still charge you even if the person is not suitable for the job and you canceled on him/her.

Two taskers cancelled 6 minutes before a big apartment move on a Sunday afternoon. Said they were coming even upto 45 minutes before the start time. Stranded. The bigger issue is that TaskRabbit doesn’t let you leave a public rating/review for these taskers. No surprise everyone has 4.9 or 5 stars. Very deceptive design. I’m sure they are many prompt, punctual taskers, but I don’t know how to separate them from the people who’ll leave you stranded.

I’ve personally had a good experience on this app, but I think that’s mostly because I was able to pick my own person. It’s not easy finding reliable and competent people to help especially on short notice and especially in the Bay Area. Gino in Palo Alto was great every time I’ve hired him for my business, but I recently tried to book an additional person to help mount a heavy art piece and unfortunately wasn’t able to take the time to select a person, it simply auto-assigned someone. It worked
★★☆☆☆Task Rabbit charges $15/h fee
The app is great but they don’t communicate that they are adding ~$15 PER HOUR fee (in addition to the Tasker’s hourly pay). I spent a full hour to do my research and pick someone at the right price range and BAM, they surprise you with the fee in checkout. Now I think I am just going to ask for a recommendation on Nextdoor.
