Lacking Infrastructure

I’m tired of games skipping things like maps and quest trackers and then having the nerve to tell me it’s a feature.

Masterpiece

I rarely write reviews, this may actually be my first one ever. I haven’t played a better iOS game than this. The story, gameplay, art style, and music are all exceptional. If this were a $20 game, you’d definitely get your money's worth. I just completed my third playthrough. Without giving any spoilers, I can say that players will probably miss a few details during their first couple of runs. I highly recommend getting this game and coming back to write a review to support the developers, as w

I wish I could experience this again

This game is a literal masterpiece and I think it’s the best game I’ve ever played on iOS. While the combat is simple, the exploration is amazing, along with the story, soundtrack, and fun cast of characters. I actually got a bit emotional at the end of the game—the game just hits that hard. What an amazing journey. I only wish I could experience playing and progressing through this game for the first time again. Also, being able to fully play this game with vertical orientation and with one h

Best Mobile Game Ever

This game is like a AAA open world adventure puzzle game like Zelda but made to work perfectly for mobile. It is a great amount of play time and you can even replay the whole thing and get different interactions and endings. Amazing art, amazing writing, and breathtaking attention to detail. This is obviously a labor of love. It’s incredible. Bravo to the SOLO developer 👏👏👏

The best mobile RPG I’ve ever played

I just got off a long haul flight, and I barely realized it because in that time, I went from first opening the app to beating the game in 9 straight hours. I have never been so engaged by a mobile game before, and I will definitely be watching for whatever this dev is working on next. Incredible game.

A Masterpiece

Afterplace is truly something special. Hard to believe this entire game was made by one person—it’s beautiful, immersive, and unforgettable. The music is incredible, the gameplay is smooth and engaging, and the story kept me hooked from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down until I beat it. Easily one of the best mobile games I’ve ever played.

Love this game

the dialogue, the attention to detail, the characters.. THEYRE ALL SO COOL!!!! I just love the world and how it doesnt take itself too seriously It honestly reminds me a little bit of Toby Fox and how its very playful and silly and whimsical. I cant wait to see how this game developes or when Evan Kice makes another game

Hidden Gem

This game is truly a diamond in the rough. I never thought I’d love a mobile game as much as I loved this one. Great characters, interesting story, engaging gameplay, and wonderful music. This game was a reminder to me that video games are truly an art. Evan I hope you keep making games!

let me lock the joystick

I just started the game and I'm really intrigued and expect to enjoy it a lot as I continue to play. But.... I really hate how the virtual joystick moves with me and isnt fixed in place. If there already is a way to lock it then please let me know and if not, please add it as an option in settings. It is genuinely a problem for me and makes it harder to fight and traverse for absolutely no reason. So please, let me lock the joystick.

Surprised in all the best ways

I bought this game blind because I wanted something charming and easy to jump into when I had downtime. I wasn’t expecting the gameplay to be so high quality, but what really shocked me was how invested in the story and the world building I became. Everything unfolds seamlessly into fright, sadness, and joy. Turning every corner, encountering every new character, felt ripe with the possibility of devastating me, horrifying me, or revealing some terrible truth about who my character is. I cann

Fantastic, must buy mobile game

By far one of the best games I have played on my iPhone. Whimsical and surreal all at once.

Three cheers and two thumbs up

Such a great game. On a trip and enjoyed every second of this game. I finished one play through and understand there are multiple endings and more exploration to be had. I would highly recommend to any and all game heads young and old. Classic Zelda feel with a modern undertale story line and dialogue. Try it out when you’re looking for a good game to sink a good amount of well played time into.

I never write reviews….

This is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It brought back memories of Zelda with a hint of Undertale. I’m genuinely surprised this game is not at the top of the charts

What an intriguing little game!

At $1 I feel like I got away with something. This reminds me of nothing so much as a mini-Undertale: it probably took me 8 hours to finish? 8-10? And it left a really … good impression. There’s nothing that I felt it did … extremely uniquely, but I really enjoyed everything it did, if that makes sense. Incredibly worth your dollar. I’d expect it to be on steam for $10 with 100,000 reviews and an Overwhelmingly Positive moniker or something.

AMAZING GAME

Delightful & enjoyable to play, through and through. Great music, characters, stories, and world. Played it in one (long) sitting then was sad when it was all over. Will definitely be returning to this world in the future!! So so grateful Evan Kice quit his job to make this game!!

Truly a fun time

Let me start by saying I am not a gamer. I don’t play a whole lot of video games in general and when I do it’s Animal Crossing lol. But this has genuinely been so much fun. Easy to learn, easier to become obsessed with. Really phenomenal world building and the open world concept has been so fun to explore. My only wish is that there was *more* of this game. Kudos to the dev on this one for creating an enjoyable experience for gamers and non gamers alike.

Achievements would be great too!

I love looking at the stats screen in a game to see what I have and haven’t completed. There is a room with the extra hearts which is a great way to incorporate that stat, but I wish there was more. I’m 99% confident I’ve 100% the game but I can’t really know. Also now thag I’ve reached the end I cannot go back to an open world, but it does canonically make sense.

what am i doing

it's fun to randomly discover things by going off the beaten path (seriously though, great game!)

please play this game !!!

oh my god this is one of my very fav games i have played in a while! the gameplay is very simple and easy to master and the story is so cool and wonderful! 100/10

After place review

I love playing after place it gives me the feel of the old Zelda games and I love the simple controls of the game and even throw it's a indie game I think people should give it a chance. And also I can't wait for the sequel or D.L.C.

Afterplace 2!

Please make another one! This game was amazing. It was actually a bonding experience for me and my 8, and 10yr old girls who are very waldorfy but I gave them access to this game and we had so much fun. It was fun exploring and venturing around and sharing tips. I finished it and I’m dying for a second one/i needed more from the old cassettes and the sword and everywhere else!!!!

Incredibly Poignant & Sometimes Jarring

Evan Kice has created something special here. This game has consumed many of my waking thoughts. It makes me feel uneasy in a way $70 AAA games have never done. The world building and writing here are immaculate. I’m not one to review but it must be said that this is truly something special.

Worth the buy

I like the game. Nice little fun dialogue. Good bit to explore.Amazing story

Fun game, with a few frustrations

I’d love to be able to zoom in. My vision is horrible, even with glasses, and I find that the scale is just too small to see the awesomely detailed pixel art. I’d also like a way to move faster, so a “run” mode could be helpful.

I’ve played a lot of games…

and I’ve even played a lot of mobile games, but this is truly one of the best. It takes you places you would never expect. Just buy this game!

Awesome game

I have beaten it 3 times now, trying to get the different endings. Every time I have been impressed. 1 thing though, The reset button is gone so I’m just running around with nothing to do.

so charming

my god i could play this game forever. its perfect

Something very special

This is a special game. And when I say that, I don’t intend to compare it with other phone games. Just in general, this is an excellent, very special game. It’s well worth the asking price. Given how much I enjoyed it, I would have paid more. If you’re considering it, I encourage you to take the plunge.

Nintendo-level quality game

Could easily see this selling for $60 on the Switch. Fantastic game. It’s so good that I had to give it 5 stars, and I’ve never reviewed an app on the App Store before. Reminds me of Legend of Zelda with the puzzles and combat, Earthbound with the funky characters, and Stardew Valley with the chill vibes. 11/10, incredible game.

Amazing enough to get me to write a review

Honestly, I don’t normally write reviews; but this game was such a standout “hidden gem” that I can’t believe it’s not getting more attention. Thoroughly recommend.

Design marvel

I was incredibly impressed by the design of Afterplace. Art, music, level design, progression, story…it’s all a cut above, nuanced, sophisticated, and continually surprising. A truly incredible effort, much less from only one person. I’d strongly recommend Afterplace to anyone who appreciates games as art.

Literally Unplayable

Seems pretty good so far, however there is a mouse who claims to have met me on a bridge, when in fact I did not see any bridges nor meet any mice before entering his residence. Also, I was able to ask him about a big sword, which I could not have possibly known about due to seeing no swords of notable size before talking to him. 0/10 no logical continuity, literally unplayable.

Loved it!

Played this game the second TouchArcade recommended it and I loved it. So much reminded me of reading “every heart a doorway”. This game has a wonderful, insightful heart, is beautiful, and is so rewarding to play.

Hidden Gem

So many things I love about this game. There’s very little direction, and the ‘figure it out yourself’ approach really makes it feel like your own unique adventure. Every time I thought I had seen it all I would find something surprising and new to explore. As someone who tends to quit games when they get too challenging, I was so glad to see an invisible mode as a toggle-able option. Story, characters, gameplay, all great and well executed. 10/10 game. Cheers

Stellar

Loved, loved this game. Great writing, humor, pacing, characters, visuals. Perfect game for a little Zelda-esq escapism. Only thing I wanted was MORE. Please make more games like this

Great retro RPG

Massive link to the past vibes with undertale humor. Music is great, peaceful while exploring, intense during boss fights. Difficulty isn’t too hard, but challenging enough to be satisfying. The story mystery is slowly revealed as you’re exploring this big Alice in wonderland forest. I absolutely adored this game.

My favorite game till now

I looooove the little fox Joxxi! He/She is soooo cute
