No validation code sent, so can’t use app

I am visiting Spain from USA to do a Camino. Wanted to install this app to provide extra security options while in Spain. While setting up the app, it says it is sending a validation code to my USA mobile telephone number, but I haven’t received any codes. Tried resending several times. Still no codes. Therefore I am unable to use the app at all.

No validation code for US phone number

I have the same problem as the other review. I put in my phone number and did not receive a validation code. When I try again, I receive a message saying “AlertCops is not working, please contact:…” then the app crashes.
