I’m definitely a sunset girly and never knew about this app until TikTok! It’s amazing and I’m obsessed!

Nice app but no matter what time is specified it always changes the sunrise time to 11:12 when moving the sunrise/sunset slider in map view. This happens for any date and any time including the current date and time. Moving the sunrise slider all the way left resets the leftmost time to 11:12.
Love this app!
Absolutely adore this app. Simple direct gives you everything you need.
Inaccurate times and forecasts
It's always been great on iOS, super happy to have it available on macOS as well.
I love this app for planning my day. It also helps when I want to capture beautiful sunrise and sunset pictures.
Good start, but has drawbacks: 1. Does no always recognize current location, have to shutdown and restart. 2. Watch app does not update current location even when the photo app does after restart……always shows original home location. 3. No help features I can find, and no guide for use options. Sad it does not fully work, especially after paying for perpetual license!
I love this app! It gives not only exact sunrise and sunset times each day, but also the angle of the sun at the location of your choosing. Also gives the forecast for good or great sunrise or sunset photos.
I find it to be accurate, it helps me get the golden hour shot!
i love sunsets and now i know if they are good
The pro version is well worth it. As an avid amateur seascape photographer, I use it every day. I really like the built-in sun angle map that helps me choose the best locations depending on time of year. Developer is independent and very responsive to support requests. Forecasts may not be perfectly accurate all the time, but that is to be expected. It’s still a great tool to have in a photographer’s arsenal.
This attractive app enables me to set a teminder before sunset ( customizable) so when I forget that my cat insisted on an outdoor stop 20 minutes before sundown, it nags me politely that sunset is x minutes away. What with feral possums, raccoons, and cats in our city, not to mention my cat’s mobility challenge, I don’t allow him out during the dark. And searching Apple’s app store for cat care stuff was USELESS! So, thank you, Alpenglow
Trying out free version to test live update feature. Apparently there is no way to turn timer off once it’s started. No access to support as support button not working. I like the potential but seems buggy… not sure about spending any money on this.
Great app, and is really beautiful! App has tons of great information :)
Does exactly what it is intended to do with little bloatware to it. Love it
I was skeptical, especially not knowing what drives the ratings. This morning the sunrise was forecasted for 74% (highest I’ve seen). Weather forecast called for mostly cloudy. Alpenglow was spot on, the sunrise was one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Well done.
I do sungazing and this app is free and accurate and works well for me. Thanks!
I use this app daily and have come to depend on it for my morning adventures to the beach.
I love this app. It’s great for photography and the forecast predictions are pretty spot on! I use this app everyday to check for sunrise and sunset predictions as I have found Alpenglow is the most accurate!
Just what I was looking for, hopefully they don’t harvest my personal data against mu will like most free apps but who’s really to say what happens with our data? Selling personal data is big business for many tech companies.
I tried to edit my 2 star review. I initially gave it two stars because I was not hearing back from AlpenGlow support. However, they were trying very hard and they found me via twitter and asked if I was the 2 star review and wanted to help resolve my issues. Within minutes we connected and got my issues resolved. So. Great App/Great support. They went above and beyond to find me when the messages from the apple store were not reaching me for whatever reason.
UPDATE: I’ve increased the review to three stars because the developer did send me a basic email explaining wedding preparations and asking me to send him the emails again. I have done so and I am waiting on a response. Will update review as appropriate. ORIGINAL: I even sent screenshots and photos trying to understand. No response. Deleting app.
Comprehensive, detailed, and largely unmatched. Huge upgrade from the weather channel.
I literally tried everything the other day when I wrote this review initially. However, two days later and everything works appropriately. Five stars.
Maybe it’s because I live on an island and the weather is less predictable short term, but I missed a glorious sunrise today that was rated as poor by the app. I should have been set up for it!! Would love the app otherwise.
I rely on this app for outstanding sunrise & sunset photos. Alpenglow is the first application I use to determine what days are best for my landscape photography. Great photos start with this easy to use sunrise and sunset planner!
Now I don’t have to wake up to photograph the sunrise that isn’t gonna happen.
I didn’t even know sunset tracker apps were a thing but I’m so excited they are and this app is definitely amazing and I am never gonna miss a good sunset!:))
i love sunsets so this app is great for that. i just wish that even with the free version i could see one more day in advance. but overall it’s so nice to be able to know how good it’ll be when wanting to watch the sunset
I get excited for my sunset notifications every day and as a photographer it’s genius. And to be so sweet it’s very reasonably priced to upgrade to pro!
I originally used it for watching the sunset when nights turn into mornings and wanted to catch the sunrise with my friends. I've since become a photographer and always understood golden light. I open this app twice a day.
Keeps forgetting my setting to enable locations!! So annoying.
I love what this app has to offer in the free version. A lot of thought went into it, and I appreciate the different features!
This app is incredible. Seriously love it!
Disappointed there is no customization of Notification sounds.
The complication has been buggy from its inception. The developer responded to one of my previous reviews by requesting more info—which I provided, and he never wrote back or even acknowledged my fairly detailed feedback.
Layout is nice but there's no way to reset the location on the map to where you are. If you move the pin, you have no way of quickly resetting your location.
5 Negative User Reviews for Alpenglow: Sunset Predictions
The design and feature set are great, but it’s quite buggy. Location services breaks all the time and complains about lacking permission. Their metrics for what makes a good sunset are totally opaque and don’t match reality at all, at least in my area. The best I can tell is they try to predict the color of light scattering with no regard to cloud types/levels.
I don’t know how far of advance they do their models but this morning I went out to photograph the sunrise. Alpenglow gave it a 57% chance of a good sunrise. It was foggy out with no sun whatsoever. This has happened to me more times than not you know the old saying, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in Well every once in a while, this app hits a home run, but it’s very few and far in between. Don’t spend your money on the paid version. It’s that simple.
I want to love this app but it doesn’t consistently send notifications. I even paid for the monthly subscription hoping that would help. Outside of that it’s great, but for me it’s a massive disappointment regarding the lack of notifications.
It’s never accurate and I know it’s weather and sometimes hard to track but I’ve seen some gorgeous sunsets that were rated as poor
I had high hopes for this app as a photographer. Every single night it tells me it’s gonna be a poor sunset. I’m looking at an absolutely gorgeous sunset. I have no idea how it’s determining anything but it’s been wildly inaccurate.
