App Easy to Use

Very easy to navigate and use.

Doesn’t always work

It has happened too often that I have tried to book and it tells me that the route does not exist. It is usually the route that I have taken a few times. I end up calling the customer service and they book it for me. Sometimes it works fine, but often it does not.

App won’t refresh my points

My points have been stuck for awhile. I try to pull down to refresh and keep getting “an error has occurred Please try again”. Can you fix this please? Thank you.

Please allow the Amtrak app to rotate

Please allow the Amtrak app to rotate on iPad/tablet from portrait to landscape (and vice versa). I use iPad with the Magic Keyboard which is always in landscape orientation.

Cancelations

I’ve had to change my plans and delay my previously booked trip. Amtrak has allowed me to do this without any dramas or issues to refund my fare, I don’t think this would have been the case with any of the airlines. Thank you Amtrak for your making it so easy.

Points earned on each trip

Hi great app and service just wish the points earned w each trip was actually doubled when advertised as such and points also don’t show up as soon as the other rewards programs

Amtrak review

Senior citizen sections do not have garbage bins... no water and food available. Food cart is located in the upper section of the train. I think there should be personnel from the food cart taking orders from menus that are available in the senior citizen sections.

Why does the app for train tickets need to take over the phone audio?

App crashes

I am using an iPhone and I have noticed that the app crashes pretty frequently. When I try to access the app it’s basically blank except for the command strip at the bottom (home, book, status, account , more) and when you tap any of them there’s no response. I end up having to restart the phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times but it still happens several times a week.

Love the app, sometimes delay announcements are delayed.

I am so grateful for the Amtrak app because I have had to book numerous trips of late and it has made it so easy to plan. Although my travel points are many, yet, it’s nice to see them accumulate in real time. My only complaint is I wish the delay announcements would post in the app sooner. Not unless the delay is due to my phone’s network coverage. Anyway, thank you!

Bad service overall

Since 2022 all my trips have had issues Horrible experiences with employees attitudes and lack of concern for disabled or senior passengers My only reason traveling with Amtrak was for the red cap assistance and the great customer service that was previously provided

Wish to purchase multiple tickets for multiple dates at once

I wish to buy multiple tickets at one time, but can’t. I have to make individual purchases and that is inconvenient.

Some Big Glitches

Works okay, but I can’t update my profile info because the Save button is hidden by the bottom menu bar.

Amtrak Website Issues

The app itself is borderline functional, even if the trains rarely are, but the real problem is with the Amtrak website - which is one of the least functional websites I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. Several aspects of the app bring you directly to the website, intertwining the functionality of one and the uselessness of the other. …unfortunately I do still love Amtrak, and the app is useful for checking on trip status.

Love Amtrak but not an app fan

I find the app to be difficult to use and the update process is “clunky” and awkward.

Too many tech issues

I had been trying to book a last minute train and every time I select it and then try to proceed it gives me an error and kick me out to start the search again. Eventually causing the $31 train to go up to $91. Then I tried to book another train in the future and the same thing happened. I ended up just going to use the website and book, because the app wasn’t working for me. I can see the schedules, but couldn’t book anything without getting an error.

Login problems

I created an account, was about to finish my order, then it says login expired, then I log out and try to login again and it says it doesn’t recognize my profile…

Better but still rough

Although Amtrak has improved the app over time, this app still has some major problems. 10-ride tickets almost never show the correct number of rides remaining, even days later. I have 2 rides remaining and my app shows 6. I've also been asked on a train to pay twice because this app also doesn't accurately show conductors when 10-ride tickets have been scanned. Website discounts also don't work in the app, forcing me to buy a ticket on the Amtrak website and then use the app to board a train. F
