43 Positive User Reviews for Apollo for Reddit
It's been 2+ years since Apollo was killed by the API changes & yet the official reddit app is still a shadow of what Apollo was. The official version is an absolute dumpster fire of an app—it was already god awful in 2023 and yet reddit has somehow managed to make it even worse with every update since in 2025.
The best app for Reddit period. The greedy people over at Reddit killed ease of use and customization (happy customers) in exchange for money. There’s ads everywhere on the current Reddit app which is exactly why they killed Apollo with their API prices in the first place. It’s okay though, websites come and go, Reddit will soon be along with other things like MySpace and AOL. Apollo truly was the best app for an easy experience on Reddit.
You will be missed
Still the best ever.
This remains the best Reddit app. So many great features, an unmatched experience. So sad it’s gone.
Reddit cant make a better app, even by buying existing apps. So instead, they kill this one. RIP Apollo.
This was an amazing app and bad on you Reddit for not allowing a little competition. Maybe you should have taken the hint and allowed the community who made you choose their client. It's not like they were using another service. Makes no sense why you rich corporations can't foster competition. It's good for all of us.
We need more reddit client options
This app was the only thing that made Reddit usable.
Christian handled the shutdown as well as could be expected. Sad that reddit did this but it at least gave me a reason to check out his other apps and try Achoo!
Everything’s gone to doodoo since they killed Apollo
I love this app, hate Reddit for killing it, haven’t really browsed Reddit since then with their ads and promoted posts spamming my feed. When I used this app, I had a cat that you can keep on your home screen via widget. I named it after a cat that is special to me and I still keep the app installed because the cat still hangs out on my phone. Seems like Reddit is really dead, filled with bots and people who are obsessed with the social issues that were constructed just to distract them and s
Miss this app so much
We all miss Apollo. God save the API
Was the number one reason I used this app. It’s useful to filter out any election stuff or keywords you don’t want to see 24/7. Official app doesn’t have it, which is why I'm writing this 9 months after reminiscing about how good this app was.
This was the best app for using Reddit. It is missed and needed. Kudos to the developer for creating the GOAT of all third party Reddit apps.
And I deleted my Reddit account when this app was forced to shut down, because Reddit is awful.
This app was the best way to browse reddit. Christian, the creator of Apollo, deserves so much credit for the incredible work he put into it. Many subtle features were added over the years, and they all contributed to an amazing experience. I still miss this app so much. Probably the best iOS app ever released.
Thank you for a stellar app. I miss it.
No other reddit app is nearly as good as Apollo.
I miss your app so much!
I just wanted to say that Christian’s the developer for this app, is amazingly responsive and puts a lot of work into this app. If you intend to use reddit I can't recommend Apollo enough! 2024 edit; this is now a memorial for Apollo. Such a great app, made with love and care, destroyed by the greed of corpo-rat monsters. Christian, thanks for everything you did. Hope you find lots of money and joy in other avenues.
There were more reasons than the API change. I had been a user for 15+ years and the communities had changed. A lot more arrogantly incorrect knowitalls in every thread. Downvotes weaponized as standard practice. But Apollo was so great it made Reddit usable. That was the final straw and I touched grass for the first time in years. Years. Thanks Apollo for all those good times
Even though it doesn’t display the website anymore. Champagne for this dev, real pain for Reddit
God I wish this app was still around
Sad to say that the beloved app in now closed
I hate what Reddit did. This app was the best and they took it away from us. We who breath content into their stupid site and they just don’t care. I’ll miss this app. I spent so much time on it. :’(
You served your purpose well.
You will be missed Apollo.
Thank you for making Reddit more enjoyable. Though there are some other front end clients like Teddit, apps like Apollo are truly special. I am disappointed we will be losing this app and a great dev’s work next month. I just hope that something will come out of it kind of like Ivory for Mastodon.
I will miss this app so much!! It’s horrible what Reddit has done to you!!
Will be sad to see it go. Wish Reddit would understand that and help the developer out. The day the app dies will be the last day I use Reddit.
I really enjoy Apollo for reading reddit. I like having the channel lists on the left. I find myself engaging much more. It’s like having a soft drink in a glass instead of in the can. They really should be supporting Apollo, not raising its rates, because they’re making their product worse
This is hands down the best reddit app. It’s a must. There is so much customization to give redditors a better experience. Plus, it’s constantly being updated and improved upon by a one man show. Incredible. If you’re addicted to Reddit, it’s a given, you have to download the app.
So much better than any other Reddit app I have ever used, but for the love of god please stop spamming us with subscribing to Apollo Deluxe Extra + every time we start the app. Incredibly obnoxious and does the opposite of what an advertisement should do.
Have to pay to post anything
Love it compared to Reddit in a browser, always new features to check out. The dev is awesome and I’m happy to support them.
This app is so good, I can’t browse Reddit any other way. Desktop and Reddit app don’t compare to Apollo. It’s the best!
It’s the best Reddit app
Unbelievably high quality. Use it daily. The developer seems like an excellent guy who puts a tremendous amount of passion and effort into the app. Unparalleled usability, clean, elegant. Great app.
I was disappointed that I was asked to purchase “Ultra” to unlock further features *after* already paying the highest tier for the app. Big turn off that left a bad impression so I uninstalled. It is worth a try though!
The consistency in updates to the quality and precision and now this little cat sleeping on the top of my dynamic island AND Lock Screen! I love using this app because it’s not just the content it’s the software that is created to make it unique easy and better than not only the competition but better than Reddit itself😂.. this app is something to get excited about in a time where a lot of apps and even phones themselves are kinda….. boring. Worth the free version but also worth the paid premium
Big thanks for making this app without a subscription model. I hope it stays that way. The developer is very active in public forums for bug fixes and suggestions. It has features that Reddit doesn’t and as simple as they are make the experience less of a circus. Could use a bit of work on the load times for first scene.
