I’m a paid subscriber to Babbel and have participated daily for four months. Their approach is just not resonating with me at all. The lessons cram a lot of rules and variations that I have found confusing. Duolingo’s approach is better in isolation, but they have gamified that app so much it’s unusable. If there’s a good app based approach to learning basic Spanish I haven’t found it.
I love the app and I like how the learning strategies but it’s my second day of using the app and I went to go do my second lesson and it said I have to subscribe which I feel is unfair because I’m just trying ti learn, and I feel that I shouldn’t have to be subscribed to something to learn it. I wouldn’t be that upset if the app gave me us freedom for the lesson and take away freedom for something other feature on the app.
I’ve always wanted to learn how to our language and using this on the free preview. It’s really fun it challenges your brain I recommended.
Pretty good app for learning a new language
It is a bit confusing to start because it jumps right into some of the bigger words and it doesn’t help with some of the stuff that I need help with but I would say that it is a good app if you are looking for some new Spanish vocab, but if you are just starting off it is a little bit harder.
I feel that this app is great but not excellent. The scenarios are in interesting and the app in general lacks creativity. I find myself a bit bored often and so don’t feel drawn back to the next lesson also my progress is not paid attention to as far as testing or advancing the knowledge base.
I just started Babbel and it has been great so far! I am going to subscribe to see.
Too expensive . Great software but just too expensive.
This program intuitively instructs you so that the language comes easily! I look forward to becoming multi-lingual!
Can’t find a way to review the early lessons; always stuck on soccer!
I can’t listen to it in my car if I keep on having to hit buttons
Accessibility to international languages; ease of use and relevant
I’m trying to learn German and it’s voiced by native speakers so it’s also helping with my accent you can even play Word games And listen to stories
I’m on day 3 and some if the pronouns sound different. For instance, eles for plural he example sounds like eh-leash and then in another exercise Babbel pronounces it as eh-lease. Which is the correct pronunciation? Does it sound like sh or s? I will update in a couple more days.
You all need to double check this lesson. The guy pronounces the letters d and p wrong. He uses a long e instead of a short e. They are pronounced correctly in the first slide.
I was a Duolingo user for about 2 years but when they updated their UI i hated it and after doing some research ended up on Babbel. And after a couple days i can already see where Duolingo fell short when it came to teaching the details of the language. Babbel makes sure you understand something while with Duolingo i found myself figuring things out on my own. After Babbel lessons im finding it that i walk away learning something that i can immediately apply instead of figuring something out a w
This app is amazing I’ve been wanting to learn German to visit Germany for some sight seeing and this app actually sits there and explains words and phrases to an understanding level. I love it!
I used Rosetta Stone/Polish for years. It’s very good. I began Babbel/Polish yesterday. Also very good, but more fun than Rosetta Stone. Babbel reminds me of how my (Polish) mother helped me with Polish.
I’ve been learning Spanish for 2 weeks now. I’ve gotten more confident and also more knowledge than the 4 years I took of Spanish in High School.
I took French in college, and couldn’t stand it. Now using Babble it’s 100x more enjoyable to learn this beautiful language of love
The first section on consonants was difficult to understand what the program was saying and I had to keep going through it over and over before I finally got it. It was difficult to differentiate between what the different consonants are so I kept getting them wrong little frustrating but still a good program.
I think Babel is a really good app the only problem I have is there’s no way to slow down the pronunciation of words. Therefore it is hard for me to distinguish the words well enough to pronounce them
So I like using this app, but I’m also trying to learn Japanese. Developers, can you see about adding Japanese?
I don’t like how we can only do a few lessons and wait I don’t wanna pay I’m a teenager I don’t want to pay for it at all not to bring wars but duo lingo can let us at least do as much of lessons as we want while here we can only do two what a waist they say they wanna teach us but not only that I should be learning more and more not just how to say hi and hello and I put I know Spanish but yet the lessons are easy as poop like cmon
I love Babbel!!! It’s not your typical language learning app, Babbel really makes you practice and train your ear for the closest pronunciation. I am so happy I paid for this app. Now I speak English, Spanish and German!!!
I’ve been using Babbel to refresh my Spanish language (Mexico) fluency and overall it’s been great. I previously studied Spanish for 9 years so I’ve been using it to review vocabulary. The only downside is the app has a problem accepting my pronunciations when I say them how I was trained. It prefers my “Americanized” pronunciations.
I have no idea whether or not this would be a good tool because the only lesson I can access without buying a subscription super simple. When I opened the app it asked about my level of knowledge, but there’s no option to start with anything other than lesson 1.
Although I love the functionality of this program, I have to say, for my purpose of traveling to Italy on vacation it didn’t serve the purpose. I suspect you could imagine there are 100 phrases that makes sense for travel. How old is your nephew is not one of them? So, I would suggest the Babbel create a travel version of their programming for people who just wanna have enough language to get along for a couple of weeks in a foreign country and enjoy the language.
The press and speak button doesn’t always work. Yes, I am pronouncing these simple words correctly.
Forces you to stare at a phone no options for learning just listening and repeating while driving, you have to keep pressing continue
It’s good but I wish there was a Ukrainian to learn
Seems great but major bug with voice recognition not working. Very patchy if it hears a voice or not. Often switches off while holding the speech button
This app is good . It helps me learn Spanish as a mixed kid I like this app it is good for me because the lessons don’t take so long
This is only my second day using babble I learned so much Spanish in 2 days! But there is one thing u only get one lesson free and on the adds it says it’s free I mean it is but I thought we didn’t have to pay at all but it’s not A problem to me Bc it’s worth learning a new language
I don’t know how to change the alphabet on my keys to Russian
I love that the lessons go at my own pace with lots of opportunity for review. There’s a cute little game where mildly threatening ghosts stop me to organize statements in Italian, and the lessons are pretty short so my daughter enjoys following along while I go through them.
If we could slow down the pronunciation
This app is amazing it has helped me a lot and I can now speak more Spanish! Thank you for making this app!
The first lessons are fun and helpful.
This app is amazing! It teaches you stuff in different languages! I gave it 3 stars because I don’t think that we should have to pay to learn languages. I would get it if it was like one time purchase but monthly!
Changed my earlier review. I enjoy using this app and hope they improve it more over time by increasing its challenge level and giving you more abilities to review vocabulary through exercises and games
I’m a beginner & the app seems great it’s just I thought it would be a monthly fee not actually 89.99 took straight out my account but oh well🤷🏽♀️
I learn y reading. I would like to be able to download some of the dialogues so i can study them more thoroughly. Oftherwise Babbel is pretty good.
As a person who is very interested in languages, but can’t go to classes, this app is very helpful! ❤️
