Beatport, their platform, their app, and the music they distribute is spectacular and a key source of happiness for me.

I love beatport but man the search engine is just trash

Overall, I like the app, though it’s navigation could use improving…but…where is CarPlay support?

I work in the iOS mobile space and I know apps of Beatport’s caliber should be excellent! But unfortunately, the app experience just isn’t good: glitchy behavior, background activity isn’t good, UI is not intuitive, again a glitch here and a glitch there. My hope is that proper dev resources can be dedicated to at least get this app into a good state. Until then, it’s becoming hard justifying the monthly subscription.

For $20 a month subscription this app should be able to play music in the background. It will not play when the screen is locked or when you switch to another app.

There just isn’t enough flexibility for browsing to make this useful for anything besides casual streaming. I was hoping to be able to filter on some criteria and browse but the app seems to be designed with only chart and featured, etc. lists, and specific track and artist searches in mind. It makes my streaming subscription much less valuable this way so I may just cancel that.
