Best app for your iPhone filming

LOVE THIS APP. favorites features! Apple log -> luts Open gate stabilization control +- Exposure compensation (Very useful in fast environments) This app is insane. It gets constant updates. Good ones. Very useful features. I use it for clients work. AND ITS FREEE

I don’t even leave reviews but this app is crazy!!!! I can’t believe it has all of these features and it’s free! How is the iPhone able to do all of this. If you’re looking to minimize editing please get the app I had to leave the app and come write this review I’m amazed.

Is it possible we can get an alternate all-black Blackmagic Camera icon? I find the blue a bit distracting. Plus… black is in the name! Would be fun to get a couple of fun options.

Hi could you add this feature where you can lock the shutter speed and put iso on auto. And also can you add a zoom rocker in which you can change the speed of the zoom and automatically change lens like on the stock camera app. And the speed that the rocker moves at

Look, it’s free, it’s better than the regular camera app, and it’s better than other camera app alternatives. Though, one complaint that I saw other people talking about is that when you are using and lut it will display that you are using it but when you press record it like goes away. I mean it’s not the end of the world since you can download luts and put them in later in editing. But still it would be better if this was fixed

As of Feb 2026 you can select a LUT preview in the camera area of the app - very nice. But turning the LUT preview on/off and selecting LUTs should ALSO be possible in the ‘media’ tab when watching clips you’ve recorded in the app. Don’t make me keep going back to the camera area to activate or change a LUT for preview on clips in the media area.

If your any bit serious about making videos, use this app

This is the way a video app should be done.

So far so good! Great features! I do have a few suggestions. I’d like to be able to have the horizon level indicator and the ability to turn on the flashlight at night like the native app. Also, some indicator that the Timelapse feature is on. I was surprised to see I had accidentally turned it on and lost a great deal of footage. Update: When can we get the flash light option? I could use that in low light like the native app!

After struggling with the standard iPhone video interface and searching for a 3rd party app that helped even a little, I stumbled across the Blackmagic Camera app and stopped looking! This app has to be the best iPhone video app out there by a wide margin. I love this app!!! Ever since I have started using the black magic video app on my iPhone, it has completely replaced the filmic Pro app I was using before. It has way more options that meet the needs of my projects. And as a photographer, I can really appreciate all of the manual controls that I’m able to use when I’m creating my videos. I would strongly suggest this app to anybody whether you are an amateur or a professional. It will definitely step up your game.

I’m using an up to date iPhone 17 Pro Max and I can only record with the UI in the portrait configuration. When I rotate the phone the UI stays the same and the video records as if the camera was laid on its side. Apple changed iOS global rotation settings which could be the issue. Unfortunately that’s not something I can change on my end.
