CloudNews - Feed Reader App Reviews

How refreshing to find a simple, yet elegant app that works with the feeds I have put on ownCloud. I am impressed with the layout of this app. Depending on how I’m using the swipe gestures, I can potentially see all three panes at once (feed list, articles list, and part of the actual article). It makes for easy navigation and helps me to see my available options. This is well worth the download if you use the ownCloud news reader. A "tap and hold" to star or swipe left to star would be great. This is WAY better than trying to use the news reader in a mobile web browser, I use this every day. Thanks for the great app!

Would like it even more if article titles wrapped vs truncated. Works in landscape, just not in portrait mode. Speedier than the ttrss readers I'd been using.

I've been using this app for a few weeks now and I must say I'm impressed. Owncloud itself is wonderful but native apps on my mobile device to interact with it make it all the better. Keep up the great work, looking forward to new features!

Not having a solid RSS reader has been a bummer for me since google reader got the axe. I've tried other solutions like reeder and feedly and always had problems with syncing or a version being deprecated or something else. I could never get past the hump of integrating a tool into my workflow. There are features I'd like to see, but the core functionality is solid enough that I'm sold. I reinstalled this app after removing it many months ago. This new version has improved and is now my preferred way to read my rss news feeds.

Connects fine, works great, no complaints!

Works good but some feeds duplicate articles thru this app (checked on server and the duplicates aren’t there). Other then that it’s a solid app

Please allow the app to have the sepia theme even though my phone is on dark mode. The black background makes it hard to read on websites.

The app itself works but you can tell it needs some updates. All the options in the article view do not work. The article preview is so tiny you can barely read it when you click on something in your feed. I’d love to see this updated. Nextcloud users don’t get much love on IOS ha! This is the only RSS app besides fiery feeds that works with Nextcloud news. FF is subscription based though.

The articles are displayed about 1 word per line.

Every time the app updates the state of feeds it freezes for a significant period of time. It is then usually quite sluggish afterwards for a little while. The display for articles in a feed uses some weird unintuitive indentation and I’m not quite sure why, but something about the layout seems to make it harder than I would expect to just scan through articles.

Nice concept, but it just doesn’t perform as well as the webui or android app. Loads wrong article half the time. Crashes and freezes often. Themes are cool, but make some articles unreadable due to black text on black bg. And the ads, oh the ads...not in the app, but ones usually blocked when feed is loaded in safari. Will check back next year and see if any improvements are made.
