I started this program to run my first 5K. I didn’t realize that it would be an amazing and effective weight loss app as well. It’s easy to use. Pairs flawlessly with my IPhone. The voice cues come in over my music so I don’t miss them. I love this app. I am starting my third time through it. It’s like having a running buddy with you giving you encouragement.
I love this app but I would love for it to get an update. The last articles are from over 6 years ago. I would also like to see a tips and suggestions section like to improve speed or meal suggestions before and after jogging. Overall I’m pleased and thankful for this app.
I’ve never been good at running. In middle school, everybody could jog a mile straight no problem while I’d be getting yelled at for taking breaks. This app is AMAZING, and I was able to run my first mile after using it! If you’re on the fence about it, definitely buy it. You can listen to music with your music app while getting audio cues when to walk / jog / etc, it’s very easy to use and keeps track of your progress. I never review apps but I love this one so much haha.
Love this app. I use the drill sergeant, play my music, then when the drill sergeant tells me to jog, I jog. To walk, I walk. Progressive difficulty, and if you do it daily, you’ll be running a 5k by the time it’s over. Simple and easy. No ads interrupting you.
This app does everything I need and I appreciate the lack of intrusive ads, but I can’t help but miss the social element which seems to be all but dead at this point. Maybe an update and some new content could bring it back?
Integration with Apple Watch and Apple Fitness are clunky if working at all. I like the workouts - they are a good, safe way to ease back into a running routine.
I love this app. I literally went from the Couch to a 5K. I finished the program once and now I’m going back and redoing it at a faster pace with an incline on the treadmill. It’s just a really good app. You can listen to your own music. It’s awesome. And, best part- it’s FREE!!!!!
Recommitted to improving my health after a cancer scare. This app makes it easy. Combined with a good nutrition plan this app pushes you to burn more calories than you thought possible. Weight is finally coming off
I really enjoyed this app back in 2017 and I went to get it again and noticed not much has changed. Really wish there was a Spotify connection for music and playlist and I wish the coaches interface felt a bit less 2D. The voices and set up are really cool but I think offering tips for beginners would help as well as joint protection advice.
As a guy in his mid 40’s deciding to finally move and get into running, this app is perfect for beginners. Especially at $4.99
I’ve never actually run the 5K, but thanks to this app I now run farther than I ever thought I would be able to. And I fully believe that I CAN run the 5K thanks to how this app steps me up to it. I just have to find the willpower to stick with it. Grateful for this tool. Johnny Dead is the best.
I’m building endurance, dropping weight and strengthening in a controlled healthy way. This coach works.
I love this app for trying to get into running. I enjoy the fact that this app allows me to listen to my music through Pandora and the coach comes through. I feel the progress is gradual enough that you don’t feel forced through the program. And if you have a bad day the app allows you to repeat that particular run before moving on!
This app is great! It’s actually helping me jog for longer then I ever have! And I’m only 3 weeks in.
This is a great app for exercise and getting in shape It builds endurance and makes it fun.It is better than any other running apps. Thanks developers for creating it!
This app helped me to take my life back and lose 40 pounds. I can’t thank the devs enough for creating this.
Like other reviewers, I stop and restart my exercise routine. I’m in my 60’s and this still provides a good, steady pattern to follow for getting in shape, allowing some flexibility as I age. Keep it up, integrate with other tools or increase visibility for links to apps like Fitbit, apple, etc. thank you for providing continued value!
Most importantly, the program and progressions are solid and well designed. This will absolutely get you from potato to runner. My complaints are this: 1) there’s no countdown to begin running, and 2) the Apple Watch functionality is almost worthless. Lots of other running/training apps are doing way better than this. I should just be able to raise my wrist and see my time/distance/pace/etc. Not click through multiple times just find my current interval.
I admittedly been using this program for over 10 years. When I fall out of running and use this to resume my work out routine. This app makes it so easy. Because of this app I’ve been successful. The coaches provide the encouragement I need also. I all have to focus on is moving. Before I had use timers and constantly look at my watch or phone depending on the era LOL.
This app is OK in that it gives you announcements of the correct intervals but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to write the workouts to Apple Heath and is therefore mostly useless to me and there are much better options. With the newer versions of iOS Apple is heavily pushing the use of Health and the Fitness rings. Apps like this that don’t integrate are becoming obsolete.
I was lazy used this app and started running very helpful
Of all the fitness apps downloaded/purchased through the years this is always the one that stays. It’s simple straightforward plan with fun coaches really are motivating. I love that I can always go back and pick up in a place I feel comfortable to get me back in focus and fitness.
I have use this app for a few years now. I have worked up to a 5K a few times. I end up losing my mojo, but I get back on my treadmill and I start all over again to achieve the same result! I highly recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn to go from walking to jogging/running a 5K!
I just used this for the first time today and it says that I ran over 16 miles for an average of 1 min and 46 seconds per mile. Obviously that’s so far from right lol does anyone else have this problem?
I was never a runner. Was introduced by friend who used it to get her moving and to lose weight after her baby. Love it! Ran my first 5k on 1/1/20. Training with my boys this fall. This comes from a woman who thought she would never be a runner to a 5k finisher.
The app functions well and motivates you to work out. My only problem is that some of the jumps are too ambitious. One day you’re running for 8 uninterrupted minutes; the next day you’re running for 20 uninterrupted minutes? Ever since this dramatic jump, I’ve been really struggling with my runs, which is discouraging, because I had been doing well up until that point. The program/schedule should be revised to incorporate more of a build up to a 20-minute run.
My son wants me to run a 5K with him, so I chose this app to help me train. I knew I needed something with structure. The gradual increases are helpful. I mean it when I say, if I can do this, anyone can. I’m 47 years old and just starting to train!
I have never enjoyed running. However this app allows me to finally understand what the “runners high” is all about. This program breaks down the run into small doable chunks. After completing my session I feel better all day long. If you have failed at running in the past but want another go, this is the app for you.
Great app it may cost 4.99$ however, it’s worth it in the end. I’ve tried and tried again to start running and this app keeps me going give it a shot
I used this app five years ago when I got into “running”. I started again and fired it back up. Constance is there cheering me on and I’ve started not to hate her when she says “time to jog” The only problem I have is when she says we’re halfway there, if I’m listening to music the music volume won’t go back up to the level it was before she spoke. I have to pause and resume the music for the volume to be at the same level. One time I raised the volume and then when she spoke again it was very
I love this app. After having my baby I couldn’t even run 1 mile. My husband and I are just about to complete the 9 week program and can run a 5k! Truly went from couch to 5k!!!
Probably one of the most functional and effective apps out there. The gradual progression is perfect.
I live the options, telling me when I’m half way, the prompts. But I HATE HATE HATE the fact I can’t use it independently with my watch only. If they have fixed that bug I haven’t figured out how to do this yet. Other wise, I like this thing.
I never write reviews but I've been using this app for years and I went from someone who despised running to someone who loves it. Totally worth the money. Has tracked my progress over years and I love seeing myself improve. 10/10
I’ve decided to start running earlier than later, and it has been the best, and although I’m only 3 days in, I can already start to feel a change. All and all I highly recommend.
I bought this app several years ago. I quit using it bc it was very buggy but, recently I cam back to it. It is great!!! I’m really enjoying it and it works great with my podcast listening. Thanks!!!
Great app; I’d really like the option to run on a treadmill and not have the app use the gps. A even better option would be to sync with an Apple Watch or Fitbit.
This app gives you the opportunity to gradually move yourself into running.
Whoever did the voice acting for the Zombie Coach- thank you! Always makes me laugh. I’ve done the app a couple times now when I need a motivation boost & it works. 5 stars!
Very simple but exactly what a beginner needs.
I love this app. I wish I could see the layout of the workout before I did it thou… I would Like to mentally prepare myself. But still a great app and I’m enjoying it
The phone app is decent and I overall enjoy the pacing. My biggest issue is the apple watch app requires the phone so I can’t just run with just my watch.
Great app. Run and listen to music. I'm down 26 pounds in 3 months with this app and not eating terribly. Not even a real diet just less soda and take out.

Not bad. Not very good either. Bought it because it didn’t require a subscription - assumed it would sync to Apple Fitness/Health because I love closing my circles, but it does not do that. You have to have the Apple Fitness app running/open while this app is open as well, in order for the run workout to count towards your circles. Decided on requesting a refund and will try another running app that will sync to Apple Fitness.
Don’t pay for it! The couch to 5 k part is fine. But once you finish the 8 weeks of training that’s it! Articles are all 5 years old. Looks and works like it hasnt been updated for ages. I would really like it with a few small updates, but as it is I feel ripped off. It Just feels stale.
