Dawncaster: Deckbuilding RPG App Reviews

I love this game, I play it daily. However, the new update makes it so I can’t get past the “start game” button, hitting it locks everything up. I’ve tried a dozen times, haven’t gotten past this bug yet. iPhone 11, latest iOS.

This game is better than a lot of money hungry game out there. It gets more and more interesting as you play. Highly recommended.

I would put in the same class as slay as spire as an all time great deck builder rouge like. Innovative enough to carve its own path, while being familiar enough to put up and play with very little learning curve. Devs did an amazing job. 10/10

Great gameplay, no heavy handed IAP, incredible variety and depth and highly addictive. Would recommend to RPG and CRPG fans. One of the best!

Rarely do I write up on the deep pleasure of nighttime daytime anytime gaming made ever so sweet in Dawncaster, wow. The gameplay, the variation, the learning, the community, the richness. You guys have struck a vein of gold here and I am so happy to be along for the ride. Bravo. Keep the expansions coming.

Just like to thank the developers for fueling my gaming addiction and new love for deck builder games. I’m going to put an ungodly amount of hours into this game. I was hooked after my first run.

This game is absolutely a blast to play. Awesome art for cards, environments, and creatures. Lots of options to explore during your runs and tons of build variety and planning. I’m not usually into card games but this one definitely pulled me in. Bought the expansions and I will for sure be buying ones in the future to support the developers, great job guys!

Tons of fun unlocks, gorgeous art, and a “pay once” cost model. I bought all the expansions and have more than gotten my money’s worth of fun. Each run is different and I enjoy making new builds and trying out various card combinations. It has a learning curve and requires flexible thinking to take advantage of the cards you find. I now hardly lose on normal, but find the harder difficulty levels challenging.

I’ve played a lot of deck builders. It is my favorite type of mobile game. This one has kept me invested the longest after 200 hours in StS. Great classes. Huge variety of build possibilities. Very, very active devs that really care about the game. If you like deck builders, Buy it and the two expansions (and maybe a cup of coffee). Worth it.

Picked this up on sale and am very impressed with the quality, wasn’t expecting that. I would love it if they ported the iPad version to macOS, it would play great there and probably wouldn’t require too much development.

Enjoying the game so far, I bought the expansions to broaden the game and I’m having a blast with it, but some mechanics aren’t properly explained. Can you only play a set number of cards? I’ll have energy left to spend but all the cards turn red and I can’t play any? I’m sure I’ll figure it out, but that mechanic wasn’t explained at all.

I never write reviews but I must say, this is one of the best games I’ve played on mobile. Looks beautiful, full of content, and the quality and love that went into this game is obvious. Kudos to the devs! Pls keep it up!

One of the best Roguelike deckbuilders I’ve ever played. Really awesome community who come up with some crazy builds and a dev that acknowledges them and shares in the discussion. I don’t know how many hours I’ve sunk into this game, maybe 300+ at this point, but it’s truly a gem.

Solid rogue-like deck builder.

The dev team is incredibly engaged with the community on Discord and is constantly releasing updates for the game. Card expansions have so far all been free with two paid $5 zone packs that each added a few (3?) alternate zones to choose from. Highly recommend!

Hello developers! Just letting you know there is a bug with arcane bow that is not conjuring arrows correctly. Besides that this game is phenomenal and must have more content hahaha! Thank you!

Wow! This deck builder is great. Nice little story, good variation of enemies. Even better variation of tactics for each class. Really loving it so far. Will definitely be picking up the expansions soon. Nice work!

First and foremost the game is great for any roguelike/deck building fans. But what I really want to talk about is this style of game developing. Its not a f2p micro transaction nightmare, a clumsy port or a shallow clickbait. No, you can tell the devs put a lot of love into it and decided to not only respect you as a player but the game it self. If you see this devs I hope you are rewarded and I wish you all the best on this game and future projects!

Beautiful, detailed graphics, plays in portrait mode, and quite challenging. No crashes - its very solid on my 13 Pro. If you like Slay the Spire, give this a try.

Right up with the best roguelites card games next to Slay the Spire for mobile and man is this game great. Only just bought it and been so worth it. Will definitely buy the dlc and buy future ones as always! Only thing i can say is definitely would like the option to increase game speed even more if possible!

I’ve put a couple hundred hours into this game since it’s launch on iOS and without a doubt it’s one of the best games released on a mobile platform. Somehow the developers have pretty well balanced all of these different class to fit different play styles. In a world where gaming companies have actively worked to exploit the worst tendencies in people in order to extract vast sums of money, these guys make a simple well crafted product that will stand the test of time. This is polished and fun, streamlined and lots of builds and classes to experiment with. Loving this so far, plan to get the expansions. This deserves even more attention keep up the good work guys! Add a monk class!

Very annoying dlc why does every enemy haveEvasion?? It destroys a lot of deck builds. Also fighting the annoying statue guy 3 times?!? Seems very lazy and he isn’t fun to play against at all.. lowered stars until you fix this area

I've been playing for several months now, and enjoy this game. I look forward to more expansions coming out, like today. It needs more content and surprises.

This deckbuilder is one of the best I’ve played in some time! There are the classic, single-color classes that can focus on a number of strategies, but the addition of multi-colored classes is a game changer. There’s a huge amount of versatility and creativity even with the randomness of rewards and encounters. If you’re interested in a challenge (Meteorfall and Slay the Spire come to mind) with a little bit of MTG and the ambiance of Diablo, you have found the right game. Happy building!

I played the game for about two hours before it sold me on buying the dlc pack too. I’ve been put about 15 hours on it over the past few days. I imagine I’ll have well over a 100 hours minimum playing this game. That’s ten cents per hour of entertainment. Movie tickets are like twenty bucks for an hour or two. So much value and replayability in this game.

This is so addictive! Obvious similarities to Slay the Spire, but with rpg elements that add a sense of progress between runs. I played a lot of Arcanist, and I beat the game as Knight. I’ve played for hours, but I’m still excited to explore the other classes and unlock more starting weapons. This might be the best mobile game I’ve played

There are many free games out there that have more content available. The game play is fun and they have tons of class with unlocks, but every play through is the exact same. They charge another $4.99 for one set of additional areas which should included in app purchase. Regret paying money for this game to only have to pay more for extra content. Doesn’t seem right.

There are some interesting ideas here, and a lot of character customization to unlock, but it is a big grind to do so. Which would be fine, except that the game is super repetitive in each run. Each stage has a static boss, so this is really limiting in build diversity.

I bought the game and was really looking forward to playing. However my iPhone 10 15.4 gets too hot so it’s unplayable :(

Very good rouge deck builder with advancement options. Great game, worth it!

Great to pick up for short or long bursts. Nice balance with the enemies and randomness. Never feels too unfair or grindy.

This game has become my most played game these past few weeks according to the screen time app statistics. Very addicting and love that the developer is actively updating this game!

The overall presentation is amazing and there appears to be a lot of replay value with the variety of classes and cards. I’m looking forward to playing more.

There’s not much to say here. If you like deckbuilders, this is an automatic buy. It’s one of the very best on the App Store, and thanks to ongoing developer support it keeps getting better.

I purchased this early on after it was released and it was pretty buggy, but as the game has been updated most of that seems to have been ironed out. I also like the new talents system compared to the prior version of the game.

This is the best deckbuilder since slay the spire.

Enjoying it but I find the game bugging out and I’m unable to play a card or end my turn I’m not able to pinpoint what causes it yet but it happens while playing rogue.

I’ve been playing for several hours and this game is great. Good story, great combat mechanics and great artwork. I’ve encountered zero bugs that others mention. It’s playing great for me and I am really enjoying it.
