Ecowitt App Reviews

This app is so well done that it is a sad embarrassment to Weather Underground. The EcoWitt charts are exceptionally good and work the way I’d want them to work. It fetches the data quickly. The map is decent quality. It is flexible in terms of how it presents its data. It is reliable.

Like many other reviewers, I’m using this app for the GW1100 gateway and soil moisture sensors. Whatever issues people were having seem to have been fixed, because I was able to get the gateway installed on my WiFi network using the app on my phone with no issues. I’ve heard great things about this brand and I’m excited to start expanding my collection of Ecowitt sensors.

No complaints. Setup was almost painless. Far easier than expected.

Feedback: please give us a widget. As for the entirety of the app itself, I find it does what it says on the box, but, a more centric design approach might be handy. The current iteration in design is good but rather plain.

Lots of polarizing reviews here. The app for my rather large weather station meets all of my needs. It’s not incredibly polished, but it is extremely practical, and that’s really all I care about. It could absolutely use some more TLC in terms of UX/UI, but it’s one of those things where, once you learn how the app likes to do things, it becomes perfect. I’m not interested in granting the app access to my location. But the app refuses to do ANYTHING unless it has permission to my location. So I briefly granted it access, got the ecowitt gateway onto my WiFi, then I deleted the app. There is really very little reason to use this app other than the first time you provision the ecowitt gateway.

A delay of map refresh when moving around the map should be improved. The delay is annoying. Very slow when compared to many other map display apps.

I was loving using this app and device until the most recent update which no longer seems to be compatible with most recent version of iOS. Sure hope this can get fixed.

Decent app, but the recent changes to require login frequently, but without biometrics is super annoying.

Although it’s not very efficient in using limited phone screen space, the app does a nice job providing current conditions and charting weather history. I also can’t get alerts to show as notifications, or summarized in badges in IOS. That Integration is long overdue. You shouldn’t have to check for alerts within the app or log into email to find out you have a system alarm that’s hours or days old.
