Emergency: Severe Weather App App Reviews

Some people have reviewed the app saying it’s too loud even when they turn the volume down on my phone. If I’m about to get blown away by a tornado or some other emergency, I expect it to be loud and wake me up or disturb me when I have my phone on quiet. A great app to have there’s several different settings for things like hurricanes, tornadoes, natural disasters you can pick the events you want to be notified about. I don’t get alerts until 5 minutes after the The Weather Channel and local apps do.

I’m curious about if the app can get alerts outside of the USA? Would be a great bonus for tourism. I know the Red Cross is international. Would be a great app for our military bases overseas to be able to shelter in place on military bases. Does the Red Cross provide apps similar to this for military bases in other countries?

It’s an important app but I think about deleting it regularly. Even when you choose your location it is set up by county. I live in a big county so 95% of the alerts don’t apply to me so I pretty much ignore all of them, which defeats the purpose. With some more fine tuning of location and alerts based on that, it would be great.

There was a tornado in pleasant hill and the tornado heading for me and then tornado was gone and headed southeast away from me thanks to this app

There has never been a storm that this app didn’t sound. I monitor my elderly mother’s home as well.

The alerts are nice and loud, which I very much appreciate, especially if I’m sleeping. However, there are sooo many. You can set up a radius for alerts, but I wish I could select the areas and counties around me that I want to monitor and not all of the locations in the entire radius.

this app works well and gives accurate warnings. the only thing i’d improve is that the alerts for severe weather would be louder so you can hear it more easily

There is not an index for the symbols. What does a pendant mean on the map? What does a key mean on the app? I agree with other comments, the alerts are too frequent and without just cause. On my part, it leads to over sensitization and I ignore it. This is not the behavior that one should want to develop but it is the one the app creates.

Love that I can set locations to monitor. I can set which alerts to activated. Great app!

The original version of this gave me alerts and my phone would make a sound. When I had to get the newer version it does not give me alerts. I have them selected but I am sitting right now in the middle of the very loud thunderstorm (that woke me up) and the app says “no alerts” as in no thunderstorms in my area. I am literally in a thunderstorm. I have checked my settings, set them for my city where I live and for my live location. It shows a thunderstorm for the city where my daughter lives th

I have the app setup to monitor multiple cities where I know people and have ALL of the alerts for those cities to Not have sound. I just want the message pop up so i know to check in on them. The app ignores the settings and continues to have sirens for tornado warnings in those cities. I’ve ended up disabling the monitoring for tornadoes because of it. I only want the sound alert for where I’m currently located. It would be a great app if it followed the settings I setup.

I’d love to notified of the alerts quietly. There have been times I’m in a meeting & the alert has to be franticly turned off!

The radius feature would be better if you could set it from a specific address, not just from the center of a zip code. Someone may live on the outskirts of a zip code and then could not receive important alerts such as a tornado warning

I like the alerts however every time an alert happens I’m getting 6-10 alerts. There must be a glitch somewhere. This shouldn’t be normal.

We had a tornado warning recently but the app didn’t notify me until 35 minutes later!? Luckily the tornado passed without issue, but what good does it do tell me after that much time? Thankfully I have other weather apps that alerted me immediately and I took shelter in plenty of time. I keep it for the hurricane maps and not for timely warnings.

This app does t give warnings like the original No tornado warning sounds etc I really would like the old app back I will keep uodating as more info comes in Very disappointed

Their alerts drive you crazy they keep coming over and over again. You should be able to adjust the volume for the alerts or and turn them the sound on and off within the app much easier, and it should be clearly displayed on how to do it.

I just downloaded this app 7/9/24. All of the other emergencies give you the option to “Notify with sounds,” but the Tornado WARNING will not allow you to toggle it on. Tornado WATCH even let’s you toggle on/of “Notify with sounds.,” but Tornado WARNING doesn’t allow you to toggle it AT ALL. It’s permanently DISABLED and grayed out! This is a CRITICAL FEATURE where I live!

Stopped working after the last update. Opens up to a white screen and freezes. However the alerts come. Weird…
