Updates!
Good to go. Not sure how it happened but change my phone number and then about 3 years later it kicked me out. Couple of exchanges with support (finally) and they were able to get my issue fixed!
Outdated
Its a great idea but theres a couple missing things that should be second nature for an app in 2024 plus bugs to work out. You cant properly crop a profile picture, i cant change my name, notifications arent working. I do like how it shows the classes for each child, i would like to see times if possible.
no Search for announcements
good old email is better because it has Search.
Talking Points has search for messages, but not announcements. if it's there i can't find it.
"i think i heard something about ________ but don't remember the details. i'll search in Talking Points!" - no you won't.
Buttons need to be labeled better
I started using this app this year with my daughters middle school. I do like it however, I am a blind, iPhone user. I use a screen reader that is built into the iPhone. When I go to send a message, the send button is not labeled so the screen reader reads it. I have to guess where the button is, and it gets very frustrating when I don’t send a message correctly. Please fix this. Other than that, I do love the fact that I can talk back-and-forth to teachers during class time.

Not great with multiple kids
I have really not enjoyed TalkingPoints. The schools switched from ClassDojo, which was way more user friendly. Talking Points is very overwhelming, especially when you have multiple kids at multiple schools. All of the messages are mixed together. I get announcements missed because of too many bus route updates or other things. It’s too much information on one screen and it doesn’t seem like there is a way to filter anything. It’s not an effective communication app in my opinion.

It’s probably to early in the school year to tell for sure but in my opinion class dojo was more user friendly
Works sporadically
Great idea but 90 percent of the time it doesn’t work. It constantly loads a page that says we will be back soon. When you select the site status link it always shows operational with no issues when clearly there is an issue as you cannot gain access to the site. Super frustrating as a parent when you cannot communicate with teachers or see their updates.
Always says “try again”
This app has worked maybe 5 times in the year I’ve had it. I can hardly ever get communication from teachers in real time because the app is always down. But then when I try to figure out what’s wrong, the site says there is no problem. It’s basically pointless to even have at this point.
