I like the fact that this app does absolutely what a simple physical notebook does with no added complications. However, I hate that 1) when I try to draw a zigzag smooth line, it snaps to a straight line always, sometimes a small curve is what I want; 2) lacks some basic templates, e.g., margined page (both left and top, say 1” from border.

It’s very good, but I have one request. Can you add private files like you can hide Files?

Nothing we can’t do, some things are pretty confusing with tiny bugs and glitches here and there, buttt it’s the only bad comment!

It’s a good app and I really enjoy using it. But recently, after I upgraded to iOS 26 from iOS 18, some shortcuts just aren’t working. For example: Cmd + number keys, which change the tabs of the current file, and Cmd + W, which closes the current tab. I’m using Goodnotes version 5. And after upgrading to 6 these errors won’t stop.

-ability to edit the image when adding to notes instead of going to my gallery &editing the brightness or reshaping it. - add bubble lettering fonts but overall love the app ! i use it for everything & im always recommending it to everyone

I have two paid versions. The original I can no longer access because it is associated with an old email that I no longer have access to. I can use the new version on my iPad but when on my iPhone, the app is difficult to use because a banner shows that my phone has another existing account and the app or iPhone will not let me delete the original. I am considering switching to a different app completely.

Great app, love it and using it every day.

ths one is my favorite note taking app. I use it for everything in my life! I love how I can save soemthing on my phone and seconds later I can open it on my ipad to modify. The syncing feature is flawless. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it had password protection. Using it as a journal would be amazing. I refuse to use anything as a journal that I can't password protect. I have seen people asking for years to have that featute added.

All I really have to say is…… I LOVEEE THIS APP SOO MUCH. it’s so useful, and I’ve only been using for a couple days, great for note taking, designing, word thought, journaling, school, work. In general it’s just a PERFECT APP!❤️❤️❤️

I love this app and the organization it allows me to do. One thing I would like added (but is not a hinder to my experience) are lines on the Flashcard page. Almost like the flashcards my mom used to buy me for middle and high school. Other than that, I love it! Thank you.

I love the app just needs new items such as maybe align and lock button.

I have used this app for college, personal life, learning Chinese and creating storyboards for filmmaking. You can organize your notebooks, the templates for the pages are amazing, the features you can use on your Apple Pencil are just magical. I’m not kidding, I recommend this app to all my friends from collage. I haven’t owned a physical notebook since I bought this app. This is a game changer, specially if you have an iPad. ⭐️

I love this and suggest it to all my friends, though I do wish the way pages scrolled could be saved by document. I have a notebook I use for work but the pages scrolling messed me up so I set it on horizontally flipping. Yet a couple journaling books I have it’s easier to keep reading and writing if it scrolls vertically. I’m between both several times daily and I have to keep changing it back and forth.

The app is overall great and I’ve been using it for years. However, not a fan of the newest selecting feature. I take notes over text box a lot, and recently found it difficult. When I’m trying to write on top of text box, the text got selected and moved. And for some reason undo will not move the text back to its original place. Then I have to zoom out and try to move and align with previous handwritten notes. This isn’t really user friendly. Can we have a switch to turn off this selecting fe

This app makes my life so much easier. It is so convenient and it makes me a much more organized person.

Excellent App I love it. I can type or write with my Apple Pencil. heart ♥️ What do I use to hand write ✍️ on my phone? Apple Pencil works only on iPad.

App works well but make sure that your notes are being backed up regularly. The app crashes from time to time and everything will erase permanently if they're not backed up through iCloud or in your files.

If you use this app to import lecture notes, then make text boxes, paste images etc.. prepare for it to crash multiple times per day. Thankfully the document seems to save progress but simply pasting an imagine can become a 2 minute ordeal with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes you create a text box and it appears but you type and nothing happens. Sometimes you paste and an image doesn't appear, or appears on another page, and may be the size of your nail or the size of half the page.

Is a good app for taking notes and planning diy projects.

I use Goodnotes for literally everything productive and digitized. I have tried every other app, and they do not compare to Goodnotes and its features.

This is a great app to use for note taking; however, if you accidently cut/ delete something on your notes there's not really a way to undo it(on mac)

I have only been using this app for like 30 min and I absolutely love it ! I like how you can customize your color and add pics from your iPhone to your notes. I am very pleased with this app and I usually do not leave a review but this app deserves a review! I will definitely will be using this in nursing school.

Embedded hyperlinks in a pdf do not work with GoodNotes 6 on an iPad.

Hi GoodNotes Team, I love the app. There is one feature that I would like to request. A way to browse through files and folder without going all the way back and leaving the document that I am currently working on. This is because once I go back - I have to either open the same file or a different file to be able to start working again. An optional side panel to browse through folders and files would be immensely helpful.

I paid for both the mobile & desktop versions so I could easily switch but they are RARELY in sync. I waste a lot of time trying to get my notes from one device to show up on the other. Frustrating. Otherwise it's great.

I have 2 requests to make this app even better. Being able to type in a notebook page as you would a Word document. Sometimes, text-boxes can be awkward. Having up to 3 text styling defaults. I color-code & font-size code my notes by what I hear the lecturer say while in class & what I read from the book. I have to constantly change colors and make that the default for separate slides. Being able to view pages side-by-side, two to a slide for more efficient annotation. Thanks!

I've had no problems with goodnotes on my iPad in the 4 years I've been using it daily. I love the searchable handwriting, the ability to erase highlighting without erasing writing, and how easy it is to import PDFs as new documents or as add-ons to existing ones. On my MacBook though, it's glitchy and extremely slow. It's typically about 10 mins of decent use before I have to quit and restart the app on MacBook.

Something goes wrong since last update. I can’t see all my files, and I just got stuck with one folder.

PROS: 1. No subscription fees! This is a one-time purchase software. 2. You can annotate PDF: Write notes, highlight, and draw. 3. Excellent for writing notes with the apple pencil or some other third party pencil (for iPad) CONS: 1. Developer does not offer any ability to encrypt notes. This is a huge disadvantage, and limits the use, in work that deals with PII.

Please add a password protect feature! No one wants sensitive data exposed. It would be great if you could lock the application or lock individual notebooks. This is a must for some of us!

GoodNotes provides one of the best UI and greatly enhances my digital note-taking experience :D

I use this app daily. I don’t have anything bad to say about it. In fact, I came to Apple specifically for this app!

After working intensely on my iPhone 12, iPad Pro and also on the MacBook versions of a file in GoodNotes the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro versions of the app work very good. A MacBook one works good but does occasionally crash. Overall a very very useful app.

When you write down note it stock and doesn’t write smoothly you should go outside remover it from background on reopen it again

I wish there was a tutorial on how to use Goodnotes that was free. It only allows you to do so much and then you have to pay for it and then you have to pay for the planners. It seems to be a bit much.
