I really appreciate this app although it is a starting point vs an end point looking for places to eat. When I've tried to contribute in the past, they want too many details on every location to submit information so I often don't contribute. I think it would be more up to date and have more data if you could add a couple of mandatory fields and then choose your own optional categories to add.
Can’t live without this app it’s great anywhere I go I can find great options to eat!
Comprehensive worldwide index of vegan, vegetarian, and vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurants complete with maps. Allows searches in a particular area and filtering by any combination of vegan, vegetarian, or friendly restaurants.
I’ve always enjoyed happy cow!
Can we get an updated homescreen icon? one that's dark while dark mode is enabled. 🎃👻 like other users have mentioned, When trying to contribute, too many details on every location is required to submit information so I don't contribute. Should be few mandatory fields. I should not have to fully research a given business in order to add some of their information. thank you. I appreciate Happy Cow.
I wish I used this app sooner. Makes finding vegan / vegan friendly spots SO much easier.
best vegan app makes finding restaurants easy
just wish there was a thing where if a restaurant went out of business it’d disappear from the site
We try to make updates on a regular basis, but restaurants are not updated with menu, hours, or still vegan options. We’ve suggested a new category: whole food plant based over 2 years ago, nothing.
I love this app. What a godsend, particularly when traveling in rural areas. But… it’s missing a CarPlay app. I try not to touch my phone when driving, but in order to use HappyCow, I have to. Feature request: CarPlay!
This app would be more useful if it could be used as a resource to find EVERY vegan option at ANY restaurant anywhere, especially in rural areas, but the holier-than-thou good life Californian app moderators refuse to include options at restaurants without a strong enough vegan pretense, failing to acknowledge the experience of those living in an area with an abysmal vegan presence.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. If I lived here, I would be a regular!
Just ate at Avo in Carlsbad, Ca. Wow! All home made sauces just delicious food. I had the Avo bowl and my husband had the Fiesta bowl, both were really good. Don’t forget a cookie before you go.
The Happy Cow App is so handy for finding your way around where ever you are, to delicious vegan food! It makes navigating the restaurant world so much easier and friendlier for someone who wants to make compassionate choices. I don’t know what I would do without it!
I’m going to Lisbon soon and this app has been so handy to plan where I can get vegan eats.
This app used to work perfectly, but now I can’t seem to search in a city not near me.
This is a wonderful resource for folks who might be traveling to an unfamiliar area, or for people looking to try a new spot that they didn’t even know was in their community! I would give it five stars, but for the fact that you constantly have to double check hours, as the real ones often don’t match what’s on the app.
I have used this app countless times to find vegan options in areas where it would otherwise be challenging, but one thing needs improvement. It is very annoying to look for a place to go to lunch only to be swarmed with places that are preorder, delivery or take out only. Please add an option to filter for dine in only. Otherwise, outstanding app.
This app is a life saver especially for someone like me. A vegan that does a lot of traveling and eating out.
I have sent almost 3 decades of patients all over the world to eat healthy. It’s the best out there, even in more remote areas. A ++
In conjunction with Google maps, this is great. My main complain is that if you submit a carnist restaurant listing, it takes literally months for them to publish it. This is fine for large cities like NYC, LA, Boston, etc since there is an abundance of vegan places there so who cares about eating at carnist places? But in tiny towns it’s crucial to have listings like that published fast, because the options are usually very limited, so it’s good to know if you can go somewhere or if you have to
We just spent 4 weeks in Europe. This app helped us find marvelous food in out of the way places. We enjoyed the adventure of discovering delicious vegan restaurants. From burgers to elegant meals. The downside was that we would walk to a restaurant just to find out they were no longer open. At times we used Google to find foods and restaurants that should have been listed in Happy Cow. Overall, we love Happy Cow, because it is so universal! Thank you, Happy Cow!
It’s often hard to find gluten free food even when I’m a vegan place. Kalbi has both!! Their vegan and gf tacos are delicious and I believe anyone would like them. I live in another city but have eaten here several times when visiting. I’ve made it a regular stop and am already looking forward to eating there again!
I love this app. It is a quick and easy way to find either vegan, vegetarian, or veg friendly places near by to eat at. I have found some amazing places with this app all over the United States.
Where ever we go we use Happy Cow to find a place to eat. Also good for when we are with a group of mixed eaters and need to find a place for everyone to enjoy. Love it!
App is a great resource for finding information on options available at the restaurant. A few tweaks to the interface would make it easier to use. I personally don't agree with limiting 5-star ratings only to restaurants that are 100% vegan or vegetarian as this results in a misleading rating ; the rating should be based on actual service, options, and quality of food not based on what else they have that patrons won't be ordering.
The only good app I really trust for vegan food recommendations! Love being able to see reviews from other vegans who have already checked out restaurants in the area you are going. Use it every single time I travel!
Great app for vegan eating
Whether local where I live or when I travel, Happy Cow is my go-to source for sustenance to save me time and frustration when seeking vegan foods. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have this resource!!!
Love the app, don’t appreciate the word minimum. I just want to say “try the vegan chicken sandwich” and leave my review. I just end up deleting my review when it won’t submit.
I depend on HappyCow to find restaurants when I travel. Very usual in a new city. We have done great finds. I live the historical record of our visits. Nice to see what I ordered previous visits. My only complaint, takes several (3-4) minutes my phone to respond when I click “add photo.”
Very helpful. Many options.
This app used to work consistently for years but hasn’t in months. It never loads results for any location, from any location, whether if I’m on wifi or not. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled so many times. Everything loads except for results so I just stopped using it all together.
Happy Cow is the best app, especially when travelling.
We are in Japan from Tokyo to Kyoto and the Happy Cow app has saved us!! Spot on and delicious choices. Arigato Gozaimasu!
I use the app. It’s pretty useful overall. But it’s useless on the iPad, as the display is sideways. People mostly use iPads in landscape mode. Please add a layout to support this.
I have enough points to gift this app to a friend but it’s not clear how I would go about that. Love this app for many reasons but some of the functions are not intuitive!
I love the app and have used it traveling out of the country. Sometimes it is disappointing to goto places that are not truly vegan. Otherwise this is my goto especially when I travel.
I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life and found this app about 10 years ago. It is the absolute best app. I use it whenever I travel to find the best vegan restaurants. I’m on my second year of becoming vegan and this app helped me transition. I’ve loved almost every place I’ve tried. This community has great taste in restaurants and pretty much only post 4 and 5 star restaurants. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to eat healthier!
I really love this app so much! The only thing is I wish there was a way to denote which non-restaurant places (coffee shops, bakeries, etc) do not have meat. The fully vegetarian places seem to be in the same category as the "some vegetarian options" places. This adds a lot of extra detective work for someone who only goes to fully vegetarian or vegan places.
I like using this app when traveling, but I wish it had a whole foods plant based designation, and not just vegan.
I love having the resource but the rating system is bad. If a place isn’t fully vegan it can only get a 4 star. Why punish people for trying? If a place is fully vegan, it has to get a two star minimum. I had the worst meal of my life and couldn’t give it one star. This leads to misrepresented ratings and bad experiences. A better practice would be to allow people to rating places fairly and add a gold cow or something for full vegan places that you can filter on if you so desire. These places c
Easy to navigate app that helps us find good eats on the road and around our neighborhood.

This is a good basic resource but it’s not updated and you can find more options just by a simple web search.
The filtering is non existent. You can’t filter by vegetarian options available or open now. It’s clunky and I found it unusable during my trip to Japan. Opened it twice and was so frustrated by the experience I didn’t use it again.
