Verification Code never came and VIP ads

The new update requires me to add my phone number, which I don’t want to, since I already log in through Gmail. I wanted to keep in touch with the friends I’ve made, so I added my number to get the verification code, but it never came through messages and calls after multiple attempts. I can’t even remove that pop up to get access to my own account. I also keep getting in-app ads for VIP which is just annoying. If there was a checkbox to disable the pop-ups for the day, it would’ve been bearabl

Appreciation

Thank you so much for your efforts, I want to say that In this last two weeks we as Iranian in Iran had not access to internet connection so please give us a chance to keep our streaks save.haha Bye 👋🏻

Good language exchange app, but has new design

This app is great for connecting with other people in the world to practice language learning. It has some handy features like the translate button for messages. However, the app has a new design WITH ADS, and the menus are confusing to navigate. The app almost feels like a casino or like a gaming app. It had a much better layout years ago. I’ll also add that it appears that messages are not saved in any cloud storage system of any kind, so it seems they’re only stored as long as the app is on y

A Few Notes…

Why does this it feel like I’m on tiktok shop when I’m on this app? Lol, but anyways, the free version is ok to say the least, but hate that all the necessary options (i.e., choose gender, location, languages I know, more languages I want to learn, etc) are paywalled behind a subscription. I actually love the social media aspect and the voice chat rooms but they need to be monitored, I’ve personally seen bullying, gross NSFW comments on posts and straight up sexism, homophobia and racism be open

A Good App But Standard Disregard for Personalized Settings

I’ve met good people on this app, although my original language goals have diverged into a language I never thought I’d learn. The notification settings are not obeyed! They send you stupid notifications about who’s live etc even after you uncheck notifications… uh fix that or lose me

HellloLets talk

I love this app & all the features it has. I love it so much I bought the app at the beginning of 2024. My only complaint is that I use multiple phones. So when I get into my account, my messages don’t look the same. I’d love it if the app was updated to sync all messages to be the same on different devices on the same account! 🙏🏾

Great app

My only critique is that I believe the option to post videos, that are appropriate, should be available.

it's pretty good

it's honestly awesome for language learnig and making friends (but, by experience, you might be ghosted within 13 hours/minutes), but the amount of racism and perverts on here is crazy, not a good app for people who don't want to see abs posted and people who don't want to talk to perverts, but still good for making international friends

great app, met a lot of cool people

i just wish there was a way to like, remove my account from others seeing it or deactivating it or something?? i keep getting messages from people and, while i appreciate them reaching out, it’s a little overwhelming and i’d like a break. is that possible?

Good but there’s room for improvement

I like this platform for the fact you can correct people’s grammatical errors, host rooms, and view live streams. However I wish they would allow people to have video calls regardless of VIP status, not charge people for stickers, and lessen some of the requirements to message people. Other than that it’s useful to interact with native speakers.

Yes

This is the coolest app I have ever downloaded. Just fully cool. Best community of people on here everyone is trying to learn and be helpful. Fully sick. One day I want to buy this app, or at least a majority share. It’s hard for me to gauge how much it would be worth but my guess is it couldn’t be more than a couple million at this point. Once I purchase it I’ll do nothing to overhaul it— it already has virtually all the features one could want

Why can’t I start a voiceroom live?

I have VIP membership?!plz help!

Best language app

By far the best language and social media app wrapped into one. You’ll meet lots of people around the world and there are all the necessary tools included to not only communicate but learn language as well. I personally liked it so much I purchased VIP and have used it for almost two years making tons of friends along the way

Almost perfect

I’ve been using this app for around 4 years. I cannot fathom the fact that 4 years later there’s still no dark mode 💀 this app is painful to use at night in the dark. Easy fix guys, come on. Other than that, the app is amazing, and other apps that try to copy this app can’t do it as good as HelloTalk. They’re the king of language exchange apps 👑

Good but needs more

It’s need an option to slow down audios to .5 or .75! You can only speed them up

Great for learning languages

I have used this app for seven years to learn all kinds of languages. One of the benefits of this language learning app to other apps is that you can post and receive corrections.

Addicting :-/

It’s social media crosses language app

shadow banning

This app was great for a while and I met several new friends both online and in real life. However, a Chinese user asked if I had done anything wrong. It seemed like a strange question so I asked for further clarification. This user said my posts should have received plenty of attention, but only got a few likes at most, so the user assumed I had been shadow banned. I realize it has been difficult to be seen or communicate and I am indeed shadow banned, probably due to many nationalist and easil

Dynamic

I first learned about this app from Cloud Learns Korean on Anchor podcast. After a few months at GLEx2020 learning groups, I finally downloaded this to supplement my Korean conversational opportunities. It’s been fun, informative, and easy to use. 2022 Update: I’ve been live-streaming on the app helping people learn English, I’ve become a community tutor, and I am reducing the 5 stars to 3 because there are better apps out there. I may change the rating again depending on improvements

Only one issue

So far I like the app itself, what I don’t like is when I was purchasing the monthly membership it charged me for a year, I would like to talk to someone about that.

Learning Languages

I’ve been using hellotalk for a year now and I’ve made a lot of friends and language partners.

What happened with subscription?

I would give this 5 stars, but it blows my mind how VIP went from $2.99 to $(1)2.99 holy wow no thankyou. Other than that great app.
