A recent update to the app introduced a change that may disappoint longtime users. A key feature — adding custom news sources — now costs $1 per custom source you want to add. This feature had been free until the update. Also, the app sometimes starts playing spontaneously in the background, e.g., during an important meeting or while you’re asleep. To prevent this, force-quit the app when you’re done using it.

I’m so glad this app exists! Have used it for over 5 years.

If you can’t play app with locked screen or from widget, delete app and reinstall…Great app, wish improvements on process to add other sources.

This has long been one of my favorite apps, but recently there is a bug that allows the app to spontaneously start playing. This is super annoying when I am in a client meeting and suddenly the news starts playing on my phone.. Please please please fix this bug. Thank you.

It’s been over 10 years since I found this app and began using it. I don’t have a single complaint. I use it every morning while I shower. I recommend it highly. More than worth the single dollar.

If you follow, the markets are your end of world news, this is totally worth the price. Multiple news outlets and it updates automatically to the most recent news summary that they each put out throughout the day. And the Wall Street Journal Minute updates three times a day. Love the app.

The app often fires on its own.

This is the longest and most frequently used app of mind over the last decade. Thank you for creating this. It has opened my world significantly and made me intelligent about most news. One of the stories I listened to helped me make the decision to go to Switzerland and get on the train that goes through the alps in the winter. Beautiful sights. To die for. This app helped me know about something I may never have come across.

Just works. So many cruddy apps glitch, this one isn’t flashy - just chugs along.

Have been using the app for many years using most up to date version on my iPhone 15. The app begins to play frequently on its own even if it is not opened on my phone. My only recourse is to keep phone volume off so it doesn’t start playing in places I would not want my phone to make sound. Ty

A great app! I love listening to the wide variety of news perspectives in real time; BBC, ABC, NPR, VOA, FOX. It’s literally a new podcast every hour. Everybody spins. This is the perfect way to hear and keep up what’s hot with every interest group, both nationally and internationally.

This app has worked reliably for years and years, doing exactly the thing I downloaded it for. It plays the NPR, BBC, and AP news updates without fuss or interruption or ads or anything. More apps should be like this one!

This has long been one of my favorite apps, as it allows me to catch up on the world news each day as I walk my dog. Suddenly yesterday it stopped working completely, and, despite deleting and re-downloading the app it is still dead. Very sad…

Hourly news is probably the only app I use everyday. For some reason it has stopped working on my iPhone. I wish I could solve the problem!

The app stopped working three days ago and I posted about it… working again within two days. 👍🏻 I lost sources I had added myself even though I backed it up to iCloud; also when I added the app to my MacBook Pro prior to that, it did not sync the sources I added on my iPhone. But glad it’s working again nonetheless.

This news app is exactly what I want! Just real news US and global news with very little advertising and without garbage “news”. You can pick your news sources or add your own and play them back to back. They are recorded, so you can skip segments. It’s perfectly designed. Kudos. ❤️

Listen to a wide selection of radio news sources for summaries of the day's news. You choose which ones to play and how much to play. Listen to one source or many. Most sources are updated hourly; a few - like New York Times in depth feature - are updated daily. Great for news junkies. Over a dozen news sources including: NPR, VOA, BBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and more. It always works well.

For many years, I enjoyed this app. Simple but still the best.

This thing is so buggy it won’t even play. Used to play fine but it’s worthless now. I have kept expecting it would get fixed, but no. It just gets worse and worse. It’s a waste of a dollar.

This feature had been free until the update. If you don’t want to have to start paying for previously free features, disable automatic app updates in App Store settings.

If you want to be in the know from many sources which are spread across the political spectrum, this app is it.

BBC is gone. CBC now polluted with ads, DWNews now only a brief. 🥵

DW news crashes app starting January 16, 2024. Have to uninstall and reinstall and leave DW unselected. App flashes something about a problem with the source but immediately crashes.
