Works but use with caution
Leap works. I mean it using the mic and our phones so I’m not sure how effective it will be, but I just downloaded it to play around well I can say he must be very careful with this app. Like me, if you have the volume on your phone and equipment up too high when it plays the sweep it blew 59K worth of Martin Logan speakers in my system. And homes so probably should have used a more professional mic, and definitely checked the volume levels. just thought I would throw this out there to others. T
Remove your case!
This should be part of the intro, I’ve done some audio recording with an iPhone as a USB mic. They have excellent mics BUT you must remove your case, I tested my recordings with and without my slim simple case and the results were very audible. I also found the back omnidirectional mic sounded the best.
This app seems perfect for my simple uses cases, I’ll probably buy it. The interface is a little cumbersome and limited, hopefully that’s just the free version tho.
Not much of a reason to hate this app!
I found out about HouseCurve through an online audio forum I frequent, through a post from the creator and using info from there, and the apps website, I was able to get my Hi-Fi Speaker Setup sounding a heck of a lot better! It’s not pure night and day, but it’s enough of a difference to appreciate a tool like this. Plus with it being as cheap as it is, even with the added $10 purchase, there’s practically no reason to hate this app!
Worked perfectly
Much easier than buying a mic of fiddling with REW. App is simple but gets the job done well, documentation by the developer is excellent. Multiple measurements and parametric EQ customization works well, I needed to lower the gain maximum and it recalculated a new PEQ for me. Exported my EQ settings directly into EqualizerAPO and it worked perfectly, and my results passed a blind test as a noticeable improvement! Great app, looking forward to further developer support and updates!
So easy even an audiophile could do it.
Get this tool.
Good fun and effective analysis for your hifi curiosities.
A wonderful resource
I have had Polk towers as my TV speakers for 10 years and always thought they were remarkably neutral. Housecurve confirmed my impression.
I have pair of KEF 105.3 speakers that I refoamed and replaced the tweeter diaphragms. The replacements are much brighter than the originals, but are easily tamed with treble control or DSP.
I made 10 measurements of each system, moving around the room.
The results are very helpful.
Easy and compatible with Equalizer APO
Simple and does what it does well. Exported to the PEQ format and dropped right into my Equalizer APO without a hitch.
I personally enjoyed the “cuts only” version much more, but YMMV!
First time
Worked until I purchased the 2 upgrades now it won’t connect and play
Good app that I’ve seen that uses the iPhones microphone
A microphone is more than good enough for simple, manual EQ, but most apps don’t use it or don’t compensate, this app does both and for a decent (at least when I purchased it). While not exactly necessary, I do wish that they added true support for headphones.
Good job!
This is a great, easy to use tool. Just invest an hour reding the directions and you’ll be good to go. It made my expensive stereo sound like I thought it should and could sound. Sound went from good to amazing. It also helped me fix a large bass dip 14 db at 125 hz. Moved my speakers closer to front wall to get it to 8 db and was able to correct it to 1.5db dip. Nice
Thank you!
This was exactly what i was looking for! Breathed life into my system
Worth every penny and then some
This can be used with a parametric or graphic equalizer and you don’t have to buy a a microphone….you just use your phone. Buy it, you will love it!
Very Useful
This app gives great information and the tutorials explain everything in detail. It’s so convenient using just my phone. I’ve learned a lot using it and reading the tutorials over the past year. I’ve used it on multiple car and home systems to find proper crossover settings, align phase and integrate subwoofers.
Astounding results
Combine this with Equalizer APO, Peace Equalizer, and UMIK-1. That’s all you need.
Should have watched the video guide
It took me 10 minutes to figure out that I need to connect my ipad to the speakers to play the measurement sine sound. After that is done, and load the new profile into Soundsource on my mac. The sound is so much better. Before this app, I used to EQ match pink noise using FabFilter Pro-Q, but this app produces a much better sounding profile.
I do have dbx driverack pa 2 with rta-m mic, but that is for my live pa system. I use this app for my desktop monitor instead.
Wonderful sounding
Love that the filters produced by this are so easy to use I’m Roon, and I enjoy the included house curves.
Key features to me were how easy it was to AirPlay and take measurements, and that the only curve included wasn’t a boring, flat one.
Would love to see the ability to export a zip of the filters at once and maybe something to normalize them. I thought something was wrong with my system until I figured out I needed to adjust headroom to -10 to avoid clipping.
Thank you for this app! Bra
Useful tool
For anyone owning a graphic equalizer, this is a great resource for tweaking your system to compensate for changes to your system or room acoustics. For example I rearranged an upholstered sofa and it really threw off my upper frequency response. I had an odd hole at around 125hz that I have now adjusted with the equalizer. Love this app!
Great and simple
Used this to tune my newly installed speakers and crossovers in my car using just my iPhone, and within 5 minutes I was in audio nirvana. Money well spent.
