IPA Keyboard: IPA Alphabet App Reviews

This keyboard makes it fairly easy to access the symbols of the international phonetic alphabet. It does have a tendency to close and switch back to the standard iOS keyboard. Also, the voiced velar plosive does not always show the correct symbol; it often reverts to the typewriter version of the "g" rather than the one shown here. It seems that it needs to not necessarily default to the one provided by the font.

I needed to find an app that could allow me to text the IPA alphabet to my classmates. I ran into an issue on my end (nothing to do with the app working, but rather my personal tech challenges) and I received immediate customer support. I am very impressed with the app and the customer service was a great bonus. I think our entire class has this app now- we love it. Thanks!

Nothing fancy, but it does what it says it does. Super useful especially if you instruct phonetics or related disciplines, and use your iPad to make, let's say, a ppt material. Has no problem with inputting IPA symbols in a way that, at least for me, is consistent with my intuition. Also has a friendly customer service.

Completely great! Works flawlessly. A go to app when I need to write some IPA enscriptions.

Doesn’t work very well as an everyday keyboard—the layout’s just too awkward—but it’s extremely convenient and works well any time I need to use IPA. Most of the character positions are quite logical to me and are usually in the first or second place I look. (I don’t use it frequently enough to have them all memorized.) I also have never experienced crashes or technical problems with it, which is very nice. Definitely recommended from me!

Cannot add the third party keyboard making this useless.

I can’t use apostrophe on top of the letter. Apple keyboard has the feature. For example, `i’. I can type `ì’ or `í’. But in this app, for `æ’, I can only type `æ`’ or `æ’’ like `i`’ or `i’’. Please enable this features in your app.

Just why? Are the keys SO big? And you're also missing some symbols.

this keyboard is amazing and all, but theres only one thing that bothers me. each time you open the keyboard up, itll rise up slowly, eventually covering the whole screen. please fix this, otherwise its a good keyboard

Many of the symbols are too tiny and can’t be made larger. I was not able to recreate IPA flashcards on quizlet using this keyboard because many symbols that should be the size of letters were a tenth of the size.
