IF you don’t care about lyrics. You can type them in but space is limited. However, it pushes you to learn notation which serious musicians should know. Been using constantly for eight years.
I’ve had it for a few years now and me and most of the people I play with also use it. It’s so versatile, you can change the key the speed the style, choose the chord position that works best for any given tune and so much more. There’s a great selection of songs and the support has been incredible. You can even correct the music by changing the chords. It’s a bargain. Get it, you won’t regret it.
IReal is a must have for the practicing musician. The ability to learn standards in all keys alone makes it essential for anyone who takes practicing seriously.
This app does everything I need to practice jazz and many other genres. I use it with all my students and my original compositions as well. It’s less good with rock music. There are fewer rhythm tracks available. But there are excellent choices for Latin, Brazilian, and Blues.
The new real drums on jazz styles are awesome, thanks so much! Biggest wish would be for medium and uptempo swing brushes. The brushes that were added sound terrific, and the open even 8th note groove is really nice. Hoping for more real drums on other styles in the future, as well as other instruments. I have used this app for charts for many years…my only small gripe would be the input delay when creating my charts. Thanks again!
I’ve had this app since the first year came out. I absolutely love it! So easy switch keys for singers, easy to make modifications to chords and add intros and codas. It has become the gold standard for everyone I know.
The real drums is a great upgrade for the jazz styles. Please add real drums for the Brazilian styles, recorded by a Brazilian drummer please. I can recommend some of the best if you need. I would gladly pay extra for it.
But starting without any musical intro is not very helpful
This is a great music app at a great price. I had a support issue on a Saturday/holiday weekend and got a fast answer. This app was referred to me by a friend and now I recommend it, too. :-)
Fantastic app, it’s the only one I use for finding music
My one and ONLY issue with this app is that when I make a latin/swing backing track, and I make it under tempo (like 147 instead of 180) it defaults to using the MIDI drums instead of the Real drums, and I cant change it no matter what... this issue isnt really that important but i though i should say something about it
You are a teacher? A student? A composer? In a small band? Then you MUST GET THIS APP. 1). You will not regret it 2). Get ready to become a better musician… I have! Enough said.
Was imagining building an app which took Real Book chord names and translated them into backing tracks to practice. And then realized that app was already built and a thousand times better. Cheers!
Amazing for practice
Love this app. I think it would be so cool if it was also AuV3, so I could make it a track in Aum, and apply effects to it and Jam along!
I haven’t used this app in a while and I needed backing tracks and I remembered iReal Pro! It is so wonderful! It’s still alive! It’s updated! If you are a soloist and need to woodshed, this is THE go to app for backing tracks!!
I do a solo on piano at a restaurant. I have my iPad by my side playing the bass with a nice rhythm section. It’s not meant to replace live musicians but it’s the next best thing.
This app is absolutely the best for jazz backing tracks. It has other genres yes but it does jazz the best. Much more versatility than a YouTube backing track or something like that as you can change the tempo, key, number of repeats, etc. Great community too. I only wish they made a PC version so I could use this with my laptop. Worth every penny!
Have to admit I’ve had the app for a few years, just diving into it but it is terrific. I’ve played in various groups over the years but starting a jazz team with a singer and me on piano. Nice to have a variety of back up musicians for live shows. It is indeed terrific for practice and learning new charts but the back up music sounds great through a sound system. Great performance and great value.
I love this app. It can use a few more features to put it as a very versatile tool. Tempo change on selected measures, style changes on selected measures, complete stop(no overtone) would make this the most used in practice session and gig. Why not add these simple functions. If anything the latest version has a more confusing interface.
I’ve been using the app for practice for years. They keep improving it and respond to questions immediately. I know people complain about their moving to a paid version but we’ll worth it to support their continued development.
This is the best app for musicians who are practicing solo or prepping for a gig, hands down.
To you have a patient rhythm section willing to play despite all my mistakes is priceless.
Forgo doesn’t read music, this app comes in very handy for me to share with my musical colleagues preparing for my gigs.
This app is just about perfect. Intuitive, easy navigation, accompanying instruments sound great.
I love to practice tempos, rhythms and keys ( I sing jazz.) Best prep ever for going to open mics. Thank you iReal Pro artists! Pearl
An amazing and constantly useful tool.
Unbelievable. Just what I always wanted. Just started using it. It is beyond belief wonderful. What a knockout. THANK YOU!
Used to be able to highlight a section and it would repeat that section. That feature seems to have been eliminated. Too bad.
If you are not able to carry a thousand tunes in your head, then this is a must! I use it in teaching and performing.
I purchased the app IReal Pro and now I can’t even see it on my iPhone 12.Any suggestions???
Excellent resource for practice. Easy to use.
And keeps getting better and better! There is no excuse not to practice. Can’t live without it. Thank YOU the makers of this wonderfullllllll tool
Been using this app for a couple of years both for practice and playing out. I play in a duo that plays trad swing and ballads and a few newer tunes. For the price, this app can’t be beat!
This app has ramped my playing up several levels. Can’t recommend highly enough!
For the last couple of years .I’ve enjoyed so much. I real pro .I think it’s amazing…michael
Very good customer service. Always there. Og picker
This is a great resource. It's not just a great learning tool, it’s a lot of fun.
Used it for years. Always tell friends about it. So great
Amswers to my questions have been prompt and very clear. The 5 Star rating is much deserved.
So much of my singing performances revolve around everything this app provides. I’ve even gotten my “purist” sidemen to utilize!! Makes presenting the tunes so much easier. Keep those gigs coming❣️❣️
This is such a great tool for learning
And thank you for taking customer’s privacy seriously.

This is basically an iPhone apps that was clumsily updated for iPad. If you’re planning on using this on your iPad and are planning on creating your own backing tracks for practice sessions, I would look elsewhere. It is rarely updated. If you download pre-made charts for backing tracks it works pretty well, but I need to make practice material and attempting to input chords and formatting is clumsy. The assistance from the forums is outdated, all the tutorial demonstrations are screen recording
