6 Positive User Reviews for Knot Guide

Tough to make a living in the app economy

This app was a go to for me. I'm not great with tying knots, but it was very helpful since it's inception. Now, spring 2024 I cannot open a single knot without them pitching me for a monthly or a yearly subscription. SaaS is a complete racket. I already paid for this. I won't be using this app again.

Subscription required!

A large number of useful knots are locked behind a subscription. This is not mentioned up front. I paid for the app and then was immediately confronted with locked-out content and subscription options. Knocked a couple stars off and removed app because of this bait and switch maneuver. Hope you get some mileage off my $3 donation.

Business model

Did you move ‘free’ knots to the ‘paid’ knots section?

Meh

I’ve had this app for a number of years. When I first got it, it was completely free. I understand maintaining these apps takes time, effort, and money, but to start charging a recurring fee for info that is readily available for free on many other apps, not to mention the internet, nah don’t think so. Anyway, yeah y’all have a good app, but I’m not paying for something I can very easily find for free elsewhere, like Knots by Grogg (outstanding app and website) and many others.

Great when free - (k)not worth paying for.

I really liked the app when it was 100% free. I understand the developers want to make money and/or cover their costs. However, the subscription model just doesn’t make sense for this type of app - it’s not a use every day kind of app. There are plenty of other places to look up knots for free. There’s about to be one less app on my phone.

Strange pricing model

What’s the sense of subscribing to something that doesn’t update or change much or often? Other than providing a steady income stream to the developer, a one-time fixed price would make much more sense. It’s more a book than a magazine…
