I have over a year long streak in this game <3 The only thing missing for me is a way to view my high score times.
Five stars until latest update. App quits at end or sometimes during game
I have been playing this game for the past few years and try not to miss a day. It is a free game with no ads, which makes it even better. The classic puzzle gets harder each day of the week, making for a fun challenge every Sunday.
So, I love the game, but they’re clearly scraping wiktionary in a rather sloppy way, and it’s causing problems. I noticed a puzzle accepted “eche” as a word, and the definition button in the app stated its meaning as “eternal,” which wasn’t what Marriam-Webster said. Looked it up in Wiktionary, and…the word is Middle English. Seriously.
This game has not had an update in a year, and I assume an update will not come now that they have another version in AppleArcade. Sigh. It is a great idea for a game - and I want to pay for the whole thing, but two things keep me from doing that - one, it hasn’t been updated so odds are good it will stop working soon - and two - they use SO MANY words that are not words it is incredible! What is the point??? It is not fun because of this. Such a great game if they would just use actual wor
I play all three daily puzzles every morning and have for over 1100 days at this point. I really love this game. My only wish would be a way to speed up the summary after you complete the puzzles. It’s nice when you are first playing, but after several years it is very slow.
Rounds out a portfolio with Wordle, etc
This is an excellent game and a great way to stimulate your brain every day. Only minor complaints are that I would love the options to: 1. Speed up the post puzzle stats (or outright skip them) 2. A dark mode.
Love app. Maybe my 900+ day streak isn’t the most important thing :) but app crashed, reopened and everything is gone. Like I never used it before. A bug? Not like I can’t start again, but not nearly as fun to open app and see nothing
This game should not be advertised as free. Gave it 3 stars because when you first start, you get to play the first 10 games and then you have to buy the annual or perpetual plan. It doesn’t have any ads, which is great. But the limitation of not even being able to play beyond the 2 daily puzzles is annoying. Especially in my case where I love games like this. I think the devs should consider a free version with ads and have the paid version for those who can’t stand ads.
I’m always on the lookout for a new word puzzles that aren’t a rehash of the same themes that I see from most of the recent offerings. I’m a big fan of this team, and they have done it again. Finally, a new word game that actually hard and fun and thought-provoking. Kudos. Great job.
Spelling has never been a strength of mine. I started playing Knotwords as a way to have fun while improving my spelling skills, I now play all three daily games everyday.
This is my new favorite word game. The one thing I wish it had was a way to leave feedback for the developers. I frequently solve the puzzle with an “alternate solution.” I would like to know what solution was expected and how is my answer different.
I have really enjoyed playing this game since it first came out. However, there are frequent pauses (some multiple seconds long) for absolutely no reason. Furthermore, the undo frequently goes haywire, and the game’s choice of which letter to fill in next can best be described as “utter chaos”. I think a single skilled developer could turn this into a five star game in under a week, but there’s no sign of that ever happening.
I found this game randomly when I tried Apple Arcade for a few months. This was the only game I kept coming back to. I love simple the design is and that it challenges me. Would definitely recommend.
I play this game every day. It’s very fun with just enough challenge that I don’t feel frustrated. It could use some improvements though. For me, when loading the game every morning, the app seems to lock up for a good minute, and recently it just locks up and doesn’t respond. Also, the workflow is unintuitive. I never quite know which direction the next letter will fall and I constantly have to back up. It could also use a little bit better pencil support. Other than this I really enjoy
I really enjoy this game. It's a good puzzle game that works your mind enough to be enjoyable but not super frustrating. I've gotten all 79 achievements and had a 650+ streak in all 3 puzzle categories. The app itself keeps getting worse as time goes by. It freezes constantly. It crashes constantly. I've had it crash on a number of occasions after completing the puzzle and not saving, forcing me to redo the puzzle I ended up deleting it today. After it freezing for 3 minutes in the middle of
Knot perfect. Very good 4.5/5.
Great game and used to run with no issue. Since the last couple of updates, it locks up for 5-10 seconds within a minute of opening the app. The cursor movement also seems to have changed and is less intuitive. It also uses way more battery than it should as of late, indicating there is some memory issue that was introduced and can probably be fixed.
I love the game, but it doesn’t keep the time, right
It gets four stars because i have had puzzles where it will not recognize the correct answer. It breaks the daily streak, which is very annoying.
Best word game I have found in all my years of having an ipad. Love the various levels of increasing challenge for the puzzles which start out easy on Mondays and become harder each day thru Sunday. This is the one puzzle app I go back to day after day.
I was approaching 500 days in my streak. Yesterday, a word came up that wasn’t being accepted, even though the hint verified I had it right. It was a B-word often used as an epithet. Maybe that was causing the issue but it couldn’t be fixed. Now my streak is over and I think I’ll set the game aside. Thanks for the fun while it lasted.
I play it every day. Only complaint is that my best times by weekday are not listed in the statistics, only my overall best time. Obviously that info is stored for each day because if I beat a given day's best, a notice indicating that will appear. Why not list that in the stats for each day of the week rather than completely useless word definitions? That way I know what time to shoot for for each day and can try to spot trends, etc. Please add that to statistics. Thanks!
Title says it all.
There’s much to be said about the cleverness of this format and the elegance of its implementation, but I just want to mention one specific feature. I just picked this game back up after a couple of months away, and after I completed a daily puzzle the game reminded me: you can recover a lost streak by maintaining a new one for a week. I’m motivated to come back and play again, and just like that I’m excited at the prospect of regaining my streak rather than disheartened and bored by the idea of
I love this game, I’m addicted. I subscribed and I play every day. I just wish it didn’t have quite so many delays and crashes. Hoping an update will fix these issues soon. I’m actually surprised that this got through Apple’s testing. As much as I enjoy this game, it has serious quality issues.
Excellent wonderful word game. I don’t like crosswords, but I like this. The deductive reasoning, the aha moments. It’s all lovely. If either of the people who made this game were down on their luck, and needed a place to stay while their respective partners calmed down after being wronged, I would provide them a couch to sleep on. 😊
I bought the game played everyday then took a few weeks off and it’s asking me to pay again and twice the fee I paid before, disappointing
I love that if you miss a day your streak isn’t lost. They give you a chance to “earn” it back. It’s been a big help at building other good habits. “I can’t complete my daily Knotwords until I…” The only thing I’d like to see change is after finding an alternate solution, the app would show what was different from the proposed solution.
But wish results were synced between iPhone and iPad. Even with that, I’d happily buy it again. Update: syncs now, but super erratic. Sometimes right away, but sometimes doesn’t seem to work at all. Just refinished a puzzle on my iPad that was completed on the phone earlier in the day. Can’t come up with a way to force it. Oh well…still love the game—edging up to a one year streak.
Fun and appropriately challenging!
The title says it all. Great game, great music, annoying animation, but hey! :)
One of my favorite word games! Very different
This is one of the best word games out there—the best one not in the NY Times, in my view. I paid for the lifetime subscription within 2 weeks of trying it. However, it’s been very buggy over the past 2 months. I would sacrifice some of the fun UX features to just be able to play the game uninterrupted, without it crashing and losing my progress.
It makes me feel super dumb when I struggle for minutes only to realize I had to transpose two letters to fix the whole puzzle. Please fix the game to make me less stupid, thank you!
I love the game, and I paid for the full version which said it included access to the archive. But I can’t find it in the menu. 😕
Love this game. Super frustrated with the glitchiness of the app. I don’t want to re download in case I lose my progress. Awesome game though!
Super fun, but in the last month or so it has become very glitchy. Lags in loading, double clicks etc. game is still playable but the smoothness in screen transitions has been lost.
Challenging and consistently satisfying! I like the feedback on results but wish it had a leaderboard or indicator of how my time to solve ranks among users (I.e., better than. 83% of users…). I never use hints and the streak statistics aren’t really meaningful - just means I did a bunch of them. Other than that, perfect!
5 Negative User Reviews for Knotwords
Probably the most fun and challenging word-related game out there but $12 for a mobile game is nuts. Free options are very limited (and not very clear when you just start playing). The sudoku aspect of it makes it quite interesting to play. Some glitches where words are surely indirectly but you can adjust settings to get around it if you want. Hope devs reduce the price in the future.
I seemed to have an impossible daily puzzle yesterday, because I made a word out of every other single horizontal and vertical line, but there was one word that kept saying it was wrong, and I could not figure out what it was, even with using a hint. Where can I see the answers for yesterday‘s puzzles?
I have tried to keep using it but it’s just too frustrating from an ergonomics perspective.
This is a lot of fun at first, but I get the impression this app has been on autopilot for a long time now. Bugs and crashes have not been fixed. The monthly puzzles are super redundant - always Weather, Flowers, Transportation, …. you can only remix these categories so many times. No new badges have been introduced for awhile. Hanging this one up until there’s something new.
I loved this game and have been playing daily since i downloaded it a few months ago and today’s puzzle has the word RAVIOLIS? that’s not a word! Ravioli is already plural, the singular is raviolo. my italian grandma is rolling in her grave! this is not the first time the words used are not REALLY words but certainly the most offensive. use real words!!
