I very much love this app! It shows me all what I need and even gives me movies to watch. But I think adding shows would be a great addition to the app. I tried a similar app for shows but it excludes movies! And it didn’t hit as hard as letterboxd did to me. SO PLEASE WITH A BRIGHT RED CHERRY ON TOP ADD SHOWS

I’ve been using this app for the last 4 years and loved it but the gradual increase in ads is getting absurd.

I wish you could track shows too, other than that great

pop-up ads for Temu and stuff kinda unnecessary

This app is a super fun way to keep up with films and track my own watch list. I just wish there was a way to bookmark articles, as the app suggests so many cool ones but I keep losing the ones I mean to read later ha ha.

Letterboxd is proof, or maybe the exception to the rule?, that social media can fill you with joy.

The filtering and sorting options in the app have made this an essential part of my film finding/sharing/listing experience. We just need a filter for recordings of live performances- standup, theater, concerts. These aren't movies and they make the highest average rating filter useless outside of specific lists. People seeking these things out are usually fans of the performers and don't rate them the same way people review movies.

I wish there was a patron free trial, because $50 is a lot to commit.

I LOVE LETTERBOXD its so good even if you don’t have pro you can still enjoy the app and that speaks volumes compared to most apps making it a horrible experience unless you pay that’s why I enjoy letterboxd so much I even recommend it to friends and family who also love movies I love seeing my friends reviews and adding films to my diary that completion feeling I get is just amazing 10/10 app i recommend if you like movies or want to get more into movies

I wish this had an option to say where you saw the movie-in theater, 3D, or at home. Plus a comment to go with it to add which theater, who you saw it with etc. that can be filtered. It would be perfect if it also had TV shows.

Between keeping track of film on multiple apps, I’ve been looking for something like this forever. One thing I’d really, really want is to have a ‘to-watch’ list button more readily visible in different screens. I always end up clicking the ‘+’ button thinking that’s where you should go to ‘add’ a movie I want to watch.

What is with the ads now I mean there was always ads on the bottom and or side and I could just ignore them but now they have pop up ads and that’s starting to piss me off.

Don’t add back the video ads

I put a 1 star review up when they implemented unskippable ads, which kind of ruined the experience. They have removed them and the app is back to being great. Thanks!

UPDATED REVIEW: 6/19/2024 devs removed the invasive fullscreen video ads. Ads are fine and are apart of modern day internet use but it is so important to preserve the flow of the app. If i want to quickly add a random movie to my watchlist and close the app right after. it is paramount to not lock the user for 30 seconds in order to do that. if this changes I will update my review accordingly. Otherwise this is the best app for movies ever made.

Letterboxd is a great app for movie fans from those who have not gone to film school to those who have, & some other big stars and directors. App functionality is great. Letterboxd does an amazing job interacting and responding to questions and fixing bugs and other things he that might happen. My favorite app!

Please do not give in to greed and make this app an advertisement ridden nightmare. This is a wonderful place for cinephiles, lets keep it that way!

I like a da movie

Ads in the latest version are so bad they made me assume I had a virus. Very upsetting and makes me not want to give them money, actually.

Being forced to choose a pronoun in settings is absurd.

Cool idea, but I don’t want to pay a subscription to not be annoyed by ads. Cant think of a worse way to earn money than to annoy your users.

I’m a PM on an app myself so I can respect how difficult it can be to find seamless ways to integrate ads into the app experience but a 30 second unskippable kalshi ad right after opening the app is jarring and a complete product failure. Not to mention it’s a loud video ad for a soulless gambling company. Shame. An app I tend to enjoy now immediately feels tacky and cheap.

I understand you need ads to support the free version of the app, and I was fine with it when it was just some ads inserted here in there in the feed and what not. But full screen, captive ads that take 2 minutes and try to trick you into clicking on them or downloading some sketchy app are way too much for me and feel gross. Normally if I just want to see some reviews I’d open up letterboxd and pull up the title. But if I have to sit through this miserable ad experience, then why wouldn’t I jus

The UI is one of the least intuitive I’ve seen in modern times. It touts itself as being a social app for movie lovers, but where is the social aspect? It’s devoid of basic social features like searching for friends or connecting your other networks to build your network here. If it took a few pages from Goodreads or The StoryGraph, this app would be everything. I’ll keep using it to track my own reviews, but I was hoping for more the way people were hyping it up on the TikyToky.
