45 Positive User Reviews for LingQ | Learn 42 Languages

The most useful language tool

Developers: amazing job harnessing AI and other tools for both transcription and, if desired, simplification of text. And please DO NOT MAKE THIS FREE. Free is seductive, but it ultimately devalues everything it touches. 9/8/24 update: one of the two apps I use constantly for language learning.

The best language learning app.

Hands down the best app for learning. Combined with tutoring, some grammatical studies, and a bit of comp version, LingQ has helped me learn super fast.

Great App

I love this app and use it all the time. I have used it for 5 years and it has helped me learn 4 languages. It is great! I am so thankful that there is an app like this that I can save my progress and track my language progress so easily.

Best approach

The best app I’ve used for my SLs!

The best!

This app is one where you can literally feel the progress and get to track that progress. I’ve tried finding something but it doesn’t exist.

Best learning tool IMO

I’ve used a few learning methods but this is best

Revolutionary

This app is a true pioneer in the language learning sector. Steve Kaufmann, you are awesome. The app doesnt stop improving either. It has everything you would need to learn a language.

Mandarin now onto French

HSK6 Certified with 90% of my study time from LingQ. Hoping to pass the DELFB2 in a few months, same story. Stick with it, find content that works for you, that’s the point!

Best resource for intermediate +

Of all apps I’ve used, I think this is the best resource for intermediate + language learners

Best Language App

Best learning App for Chinese

LingQ for life

I’ve tried every app and LingQ is the REAL DEAL for learner autonomy ❤️✌🏻

My favorite language learning app

This along with Anki and Midori for iOS (a Japanese dictionary) are my long term favorite learning apps for languages. I can’t stand DuoLingo. I rage quit it the moment it tells me I’m wrong and I’m not or I just don’t care about that one small detail. But importing native content that is synched to all my devices is amazing. Having LingQ highlight the I know words actually makes reading easier because I automatically know to look those words up.

The Best Language App on the Market

It combines the best features of every other language app that I have ever used! And it’s affordable!

Studying with LingQ for almost 3 years, and it’s worth it!

I’ve been learning Russian for the past ~900 days and LingQ is a fun alternative to watching videos. It’s helped take me from a vocabulary of maybe 50 words up to around 6,000. It’s also useful for seeing Russian cases used in context. It’s easy to import transcripts from videos and podcasts so I can read them at my own pace, and I like how it tracks my progress and has quick access to definitions. The app is definitely worth the money. I highly recommend!

Best app I’ve used for Spanish

This, out of all my language learning apps is the best one. It’s definitely worth the subscription fee.

This app rules

This is the best learning app I ever found, and I used so many. It’s the only app I pay money for.

Steve and Mike have done a great job

Happy Father’s Day to Steve. You and your son have made a great app. Not made for incipients but very easy to learn languages with some grasp.

Amazing app for reading in a foreign language

I’ve struggled to read in French but LingQ makes it very seamless and I’ve been able to read so much more than I would have otherwise. Would recommend if you are looking to increase your immersion in a foreign language. Also very easy to upload your own files and lessons.

Amazing app!

Very valuable learning recourses, more than fair price! 😊

Superior App

If you are patient with the learning curve, this app is by far the best I’ve encountered. It combines every key element of language learning except the physical human. Use of this app is well worth the cost. It supports all major languages and is an indispensable tool.

Self motivated

For those who need only your will, look no further

More languages

Please add more languages such as ASL and other sign languages please

Just really good

I’ve never had any luck with language apps. I knew Spanish when I was young, and relearning it by studying vocabulary was always this boring slog, and I’d fall off the wagon sooner or later. This is more involved, but it also actually works for me, so I’ll take it. I’m already (probably too soon) planning to try French again when I have Spanish down a bit more. Exciting!

Very good for language learning

Very good. Highly recommended as it fits my jump right in mentality which I think is the best way. However for more distant languages you will want to consult other materials that handle more basic things like pronunciation and alphabet beforehand because

Good app with lots of nice content but the app is buggy

There is lots of good content and I like the ability to import your own lessons from text or YouTube videos. The transcripts often lack formatting and punctuation, and inability to highlight across lines or pages is annoying. iPhone app automatically marks all new words as “known” if you accidentally scroll page.

The best language learning app I’ve found so far

This is a really good app if you like learning by immersion, or need to practice listening. I’ve only been using it for a couple weeks, and Im already getting better at speaking and listening in Spanish. Also, the lingq-ing system makes it kind of fun and easy to learn vocabulary. It isn’t a guided course or anything so I would recommend using another app like Duolingo to get an introduction in the language, but once you know the basics this app is amazing.

Learning, not meandering

I’ve tried for years to use apps for language learning without real success. After watching an interview with Steven Kaufmann, I took a chance with LingQ and it’s the best. It’s natural, not full of meandering and gets to the point. Read, build using content clues, translate, read, repeat. Thank you, random Canadian man. You’ve created something amazing.

Amazing advance with new audio to text upload….

Love the new transcribe feature to take any audio and turn it into a transcribed lesson. Works perfectly for any Arabic dialect. This is a game changer!!! Thanks so much for your constant drive for innovation.

Too Glitchy to be Great

This app has the potential to be incredible and game changing, but the audio doesn’t match up with the sentences. I’ve emailed their support countless times, and nothing they suggest will fix the problem, and it’s been happening with multiple languages and lesson types. Without the audio matching the text, the app isn’t very powerful as a learning tool. Hopefully they can get this fixed.

Robust learning experience

I’m learning a much broader range of concepts in my target language than I have with other language apps. It’s not as naturally addictive as Duolingo, but it has far more versatility.

Great app

While I sincerely hope Steve and team hope to continue adding even more languages (Kyrgyz please!) this remains one of the best language learning methods out there, bar none.

Lovely stuff

Best app out there and well worth the price

A total godsend when it comes to acquiring a language

The gold lies within the paid version. It is great for novice to expert. It was material to get you started and you can add your own material as well. This is a must for any learner that wants to learn through the researched proven method of massive input suitable to one’s level. Keep it comprehensible and compelling. Best of luck on your language journeys.

Lost my words

Some of the definitions of words are incorrect, which I can deal with by looking them up elsewhere. However, today when i opened up the app all my new vocabulary words are gone from the vocabulary section. That’s quite disappointing because I spent time curating and developing that list.

Good start

Some of the languages offered, like Persian for example, are lacking. The Persian course offers a lesson on the alphabet and allows access to some short stories where you can hear Persian being spoken, but you wouldn’t be able to get even a basic grasp of the Persian language by using this app alone.

Greatest language learning app ever

Could be difficult for beginners without having guidance, once a person has a grasp on their target language, by using this app in the manner it was created, fluency is down the road clear as the sun. I been studying Arabic for about 8 years and it took me roughly around the past two years to realize, you don’t study language, you immerse yourself with reading and listening while acquiring tons of Vocabulary. Babies listen before they are able to speak. Enjoy!

The update is great!

Unfortunately I am not as disciplined as I was before having kids and a company and all this stuff to do in life… So spending time with a language using an app needs to be ascetically pleasing and easy to use. Old LingQ was good, but after the update it is great! It’s so smooth and slick. It works great and is refreshing to use! Thank you for all the hard work!

Best Language Learning App

Very much worth the price for this sort of functionality. Most apps will have a small selection of generic situations and sentences to learn from, but this app uses a wide array of multimedia content that’s transcribed and can be gone through word by word or phrase by phrase. No longer are you learning how to say flower or sun and match a picture, but instead how to read a book you enjoy or a song you like, and review unknown words directly from the text.

Read and Learn

I like Linq because I can find material to read at my level and it has the built in dictionary and the translation. It helps keeping track of the number of words that I have not mastered yet.

Great value!

I’ve been learning Russian, and LingQ is a fun alternative to watching videos. I like how it tracks my progress and has quick access to definitions. Highly recommend!

Best I’ve tried

I have used both Duolingo and Babble. I find LingQ easier to use and more useful in what and how it teaches. I lived in Italy over 50 years and I have tried various ways to refresh my memory of Italian. Nothing has worked as well as LingQ

IM MOVING TO KOREA, BABY!!!!!

This app is WAY better than duolingo and egg bun! It’s helped me improve my Korean SO much!!!!! I love this app and the way it teaches you. Not only does it help you speak the language you want to learn, it also helps you read your language you want to learn. And lots of apps don’t do that! Tysm for my experience with yall! Now I can move to Korea lol!

Great app

I’ve been looking for an app that provides reading, sound, and vocabulary. This app does it all. I was using anki spending hours making cards and reviewing. I think this is way better. You can listen to the dialogue, then read it, then highlight and study words you don’t yet know. I think it’s with the money.

Great way to get to the next level

I always found reading in my target language SO frustrating. Now I read daily in LingQ and I am getting better at it! The translation of a word, a phrase, a sentence, is right at my fingertips whenever I want it. Instead of quitting in frustration I can keep my momentum. You can import any content you want for personal use so I am importing an exciting mystery chapter by chapter which keeps me engaged. My app of the year!

Favorite way to learn to read

Especially with the new updates love this app
