Couldn’t be better.
It only allows you to save 10 recipes in the free version ._.
This app was amazing even with the free version. I didn't feel the need to upgrade to "Mela Plus" but checked out pricing out of curiosity and to mock what I thought would be a $10 monthly subscription. To my surprise I saw $4.99 ONE TIME PAYMENT and bought instantly LOL I love an app with great function and doesn't take advantage of it's users. Thank you Mela for bringing back VALUE! 🤍
I usually don’t write reviews but out of all the cookbook apps I’ve tried this one is really nice and easy to use. The browser feature is really neat and makes adding recipes from website much more streamlined! I just wish there was a way to mass tag recipes.
Does everything you need, and nothing you don’t.
App is create to take the saliant content from multiple sources and put into a format that is usable. Great feature to be able adjust the recipe (e.g., half the recipe amoung). After using for a while the only feature enhancement would be a notes “button” to highlight what went well or any modifications to the recipe. I rarely ever follow a recipe and want to remember what I did differently. Again, an excellent app.
I love this app so much. We use it everyday in the kitchen. My only complaint is that the search feature doesn’t save the filter selection. I always search by recipe name and including ingredient matches in the results isn’t what I need. I wish my filter selection would stick so I don’t have to deselect “ingredients” every search.
Works great. Can we get a grid view of recipes and feeds?
I love this app and I’ve gotten my entire family hooked on it! The biggest issue that I have is that I can’t easily share or sync recipes with other people. Also if I could make one small feature request it would be that I want to be able to tag recipes with multiple tags at a time. Doing it one by one is quite cumbersome.
Mela really is my go-to recipe app. I love how easy it is to import recipes from all over without needing to think about it. For so long I’d have to click through 3-5 websites if i was making a larger dish that needed multiple items. One item I’d really enjoy is having an option to convert the units in the ingredients, many of the recipes i find are in pounds, ounces, etc. It’d be cook if i could quickly convert that to grams as needed.
…but needs a general search mechanism
This is a gorgeous app!! Scanning recipes from a cookbook into the app is a bit clunky depending on how the recipe text layout. Additionally, it would be helpful if the groceries list could be organized by type (produce, bakery, frozen, etc) for shopping ease and noted with which recipe the ingredient is for. Looking forward to updates versions bc it is such a beautiful app!
This app is absolutely amazing. It curates all your recipes from website, detects ingredients and instructions, syncs with calendar and reminders to make a grocery list and dinner schedule. It's perfect.
I think the app is good. There are some features I might like to see with it, but not a deal breaker. Would probably give it 4 or 5 stars if they ever replied to emails. I sent one requesting features and another asking questions they have not replied. One in February and one about 4 days ago.
Please add the option to rate your own recipes with 1 to 5 stars.
So easy to use. Built in browser. Make categories for your recipe's on the fly. Haven’t found a recipe that won’t copy into this recipe manager
Easy to use. A joy to add & organize recipes. Beautiful design. Powerful to cook with. I love this app.
The typeface is much more legible in cooking mode, and it’s much more useful to swipe between instructions and ingredients. Paprika’s default typeface is more legible and larger.
Mela has personality in its design without getting in the way. It’s goal is to let you import, adjust, and follow recipes as easily as possible. It succeeds at that handily.
Can you add Option to add video to recepies?
Silvio my man. You are absolutely one of the most proficient developers on the app store. Your apps just WORK!! In today’s world of overbloated, ad-riddled apps, yours shine. Mela is genius. It’s everything I was looking for in a recipe app!! The recipe scanning capabilities and how the recipes look in the app, is perfect. Thank you so much
I cannot recommend this app enough. Shared library, easy import, fantastic design, scanning cookbooks. It has everything. Forget 5/5. It’s a 10/10!
Mela is simple to use, fast and polished. Recipes look nice in the app, but I really like that I can easily share them with anybody by exporting as PDF. They look good (and are easy to read) in PDF form as well! I don’t generally use the fancy import features it provides, I just write my own recipes by hand and it’s great at it.
Uses UIKit components very well. Blends in with other iOS apps seamlessly.
Your use of yellow is FUGLY. Please use something less abusive to the eyes. Or let is choose.
This is the recipe app I’ve been looking for! Including a best-in-class website recipe importer and awesome cook mode features. Too many to list, just try it.
The best app for organizing digital recipes!!! You can even download your recipes & use that file to share your Mela collection with friends.
I'm amazed it took me so long to find this app. I've been looking for way to consolidate disparate bookmarked recipes, scribbled notes from my mom, and years of printed, stained, and torn recipes in dirty scrapbooks and Mela does it superbly and effortlessly. It's ability to distill recipes into their basic parts and display them elegantly and efficiently is superb. The addition of the RSS reader is the cherry on top. All of my favorite recipe sites show up in the same well organized place a
This is such a well-made app that makes saving and tagging recipes from different websites a dream! And the interface is beautiful to boot. If the developer ever adds a homescreen widget, I would be as happy as a clam (which I’ll be cooking for dinner tonight thanks to this app)
One of the few perfect apps. It makes cooking and managing recipes so much easier and just even more fun. It’s a beautiful app and one of the most useful applications on my phone.
Love this app! iCloud sync and calendar support are great recent additions
Love the meal planning calendar! Thank you for making this lovely app! It makes finding and storing recipes and cooking easier and more fun.
This is the kind of app I’ve been looking for. Being able to import recipes from cooking websites is such a great feature. It allows you to print out recipes without the ads and cruft. Can’t recommend more highly!
This app feels like magic. Saving a recipe from a favorite website and converting it into a grocery list with two taps is a genuinely joyful experience.
Turns out I hated how recipes were organized and laid out. This app is such a pleasure to use. Easy buy.
This makes it easy to share recipes in a common place for my household and quickly build grocery lists. One enhancement I would like to see is a way to easily deduplicate and sum the total count of the same ingredient added from different recipes.
The import is magic and swift but Mela can’t import or add pictures under each step.
Now that this app has the ability to sync your library with others this is without a doubt the best recipe manager app available for iOS. Thank you for this update!!
I moved from paprika and really love the clean UI and great UX. I’m looking forward to the family sharing sync as that is a big deal in my house. Other than that I only wish there was a calendar planning feature like paprika
Disappointingly, the Mac companion app requires OS Big Sur or later. It would be nice to offer at least a limited function app or a web-based app to view recipes you’ve entered from older computers and iPads.
I truly love this app but unlike Paprika I cannot share recipes with my partner. This is unfortunately a table stakes feature for me as I need to coordinate meal planning with my partner.
I read the reviews and the app seemed to be very functional. One big downside: I plan my weekly meals and the shopping list is not “sortable” which means you need to scroll the entire list to see how many of each item you need to buy. Making the grocery list “sortable” would allow you to buy “3 lemons” easily. I sent 3 emails over 2 weeks and never got 1 response. Idk. Seems sketchy to me now. I want to like it. But no customer interaction seems off to me. Mela - you can do better than th
