Miximum: Smart Playlist Maker App Reviews

Not sure how to leave a message for the developer, but here goes… So this is pretty great, but a couple of things are either missing or I just can’t figure out how to do them for example, how can one remove a song from a playlist? And also, I don’t think that playlist update when the source playlist is connected to it are themselves changed. These seem like pretty important features.

Highly recommend this for creating smart playlists. Makes my listening experience so much better.

Incredible app, been using for years to keep track of and sort my iCloud Music Library

I love that I can create mixes based on multiple artists on the fly, make mixes based on playlists as criteria, and even make mixes based on songs specifically being NOT in certain playlists as criteria. Being able to make any smart playlist away from my computer is very powerful. My one wish is for a way to organize all of my mixes, either by folder or group in some way, but titles can do this if needed.

This type of feature is wholly missing in Apple Music, which makes Apple Music app DUMB! Great solution!!! I'd be happy to pay an annual simple fee; $5.99.

This app does what it says on the tin, and it does it quite well, but I would love a few things to be added. 1. Shortcuts integration. I would love to be able to start playing a mix automatically via the shortcuts app. 2. Skip count. I can filter based on the last skipped date of a song, but not the total skip count. 3. I needed to use the app on my iPad in order to toggle between ‘Match all Groups’ and ‘Match any Group’. The toggle seems to be hidden underneath group 1 on my phone. I’m looking

I’ve been looking for a smart playlist app that does random sets for playlists and this one does it so well, thank you to the developer for making this app.

Thank you for doing what Apple should have already done!! Suggestions Maybe add sort by star ratings? Also folders as a source for mixes??

I can’t recommend this app enough, I love and use it daily. Love the ability to have smart playlists that can be randomized by album. My only dream feature would be CarPlay and Shortcuts integration.

Wish you could add a specific song or 2 as reference for it, also, wish you could make actual playlists rather than just mixes. Have some massive playlists I want to organize.

Combining "sources" and "rules" in a single screen is a major improvement. Making it easier to edit mixes on the fly!

For several years now I’ve used Mike’s apps to listen to my music my preferred way - random album. Play one album start to finish and then pick another random to play start to finish. Albums are meant to be played as a collection. Apple’s random function leaves me feeling schizophrenic! This is the answer!! My music enjoyment would be complete if this were made available in CarPlay and on AppleTV. Especially CarPlay so that I could interact with the infotainment rather than my phone. Please, pl

I don’t know why Apple Music on iOS / iPad OS doesn’t have smart playlists, but this app fills that gap. My only wish for this app is that you could make a Mix off a Library search, instead of using an existing playlist as the base.

I use Miximum to make “smart” playlists for my “Most Played”, “Recently Added”, and “Least Played”. It’s wonderful and works great. I’d love to see support added for playlist artwork and descriptions getting exported to Apple Music. Also, I can’t really update my playlists without re-exporting them. It would be nice if Miximum handled this for me and automatically updated the playlists I’ve exported.

One of my top 5 apps- my go to for music! I love that I can listen to my last played song next! Thanks for bringing back the date the song was last played!

If you love music & iTunes, you need Miximum. Now if they would only change how you use playlists in a smart mix. The horizontal scrolling is unusable if you have lots of playlists.

This app does everything that should’ve been built into Apple Music. Definitely recommend this app. Great way for me to filter things and discover new music. I would love to see a video filtering option though so I could create an all video playlist that pulls from things I don’t have in my library.

I’ve had this for a few years now. The playback options pretty much cover it all. It never really fails or crashes. My two cents, one cent per suggestion: Live updating “last played” to “refresh” the playlist. An app widget, with sizing options, and play/pause and especially a skip option.

It can’t do everything the desktop apps allow but it does a ton of things the default iOS app can’t. If I’m listening to a playlist, it was probably created and/or launched from Miximum.

This is actually such a great app. I’m a real human typing and I swear I really enjoy this app. I’ve donated to the crew that’s behind it and I will prolly try out some of their other apps too.

Essential app. not the prettiest app but very useful

I’ve been using playlists to manage subsets of music for years and lacked the way to manage them from my device. I especially like that you can mix playlists together and group tracks within, again on the fly. Interface is smooth. Developer is responsive to email and feedback. Another great app from Mike Clay, just like Cs Music!

As the title says the app is great, I have been using it for a while and it doesn't disappoint. It's easy to create smart playlists and the formatting of the app is good. The only reason I am not leaving a 5-star review is there is no rule to prevent duplicating songs from appearing in a playlist.

This is really cool! As I have a local music library that has pretty much matured, this app does exactly what I need so I don't have to keep relying on itunes to manage my playlists. This is basically a work-around that offers the same functionality as itunes smart playlists. I recommend getting the trio of apps, cs, mix and play tally. Mind you my local music library is over 200 gb, so this makes it much easier to manage. Kudos to the devs!

When Apple shifted to streaming music, they broke the smart playlist feature. Miximum brings it back! It’s easy to understand and works flawlessly. Highly recommended.

As someone with years’ worth of accumulated metadata I have always got a lot of value out of the smart lists from this app, but I think a good test of its value is that my kids, who don’t necessarily care that “old school” tuning of information, also really like being able to build dynamic playlists.

But... Im on Spotify now, and this doesn't do Spotify! This should be made more incredible by doing Spotify Playlists as well!

I like it, but…is there truly no way to delete a playlist? Why should I have to keep five versions of the same playlist as I update it?

I love using this app to play my music at work. I can create multiple playlist and make adjustments on the fly. My one request that I don’t see or can’t figure out, is an automatic way to keep songs with the same title, from the same artist, from duplicating.

Excellent app that is a great complement to Apple Music

I have a slightly convoluted, Rube Goldberg-esque way of making playlists. Miximum has automated a lot of it.

Enables a feature that seems is beyond capabilities of native Apple Music app. Fantastic.

When I’m editing a mix, there’s no way to exit out of the editor and save.

Awesome. Great set up. Easy to use.

If fixed, would definitely be a 5 star review, but it’s currently impossible for me to use those features

I want star ratings and more ways to group music.

All filters using BPM return zero results. (ie: BPM greater than 5 returned zero song) This was my main reason for purchasing. Hopefully you can fix that.
