The official app, by contrast, is unusable. The functionality and customization here is appreciated. The UI and UX are vastly superior to the official app.

Extremely customizable including color scheme/themes, intuitive and great interface, more features and settings than you realized you’d even want on a Reddit app. I’d rather browse Reddit on Narwhal than any other app or web browser. It does it all better

Don’t listen to any haters. If you want THE BEST Reddit app available with a great community and dev behind it, this is the app for you. Yes there is now a subscription fee, but this is 100% reddits fault for charging devs to use their API. The dev has to charge for the app, because Reddit is charging him for the API calls. The $3.99 per month was vetted with all the beta testers only after trying a bunch of other options first. This was the best compromise at the end of the day. Try it out and

I love this app. If you use Reddit on your phone a lot like me it’s kinda a no brainer. I was a bit apprehensive about paying for it when they were forced to switch to a subscription model but I couldn’t be more happy with it. Especially considering the state of the official Reddit app. Runs super smooth and on the rare occasion there is a problem, it’s addressed and fixed in a timely manner.

The search function for a keyword in a subreddit does not return a result even if I’m staring at the word on the subreddit page itself. If the search function could be improved and reliable, this app would be worth 5 stars.

Was a big Apollo enjoyer and Narwhal has filled that missing piece for me. Great features and a wonderful developer make the app very easy to use and it looks incredible. If you need a Reddit client, Narwhal 2 is the way to go

I have been on Reddit for a very long time. This is by far the best app for it. It’s so customizable. The default interface is fine but once you start to use it the tweaks are nice. I use nothing else.

I started using Narwhal before the brouhaha with Reddit starting to charge for their API. The developer was able to continue offering the app with a small monthly fee. As far as I’m concerned, it’s worth every penny. Reddit’s app is garbage. Narwhal is completely customizable, so you can get exactly the look and the functionality you want. There are also frequent updates with new features, and the developer is very responsive to user requests. Highly recommended if you want the best Reddit

Anyone complaining about the monthly fee doesn’t understand Reddit’s recent API changes. I’d much rather pay $4/month for an app like Narwhal with its clean UI, great customization, and responsive developer than open the visual-spam grenade that is Reddit’s free official app. Been using Narwhal for years and years, even before the subscription, and I’ll continue to use it for years to come.

Ever since Reddit decided to go stupid and kill off access to their api, Narwhal has been BY FAR the best Reddit app. It’s close to where Apollo was in features and the cost is more than fair. Love this dev.

The app looks and functions nicely. However, there’s not currently a way to filter out NSFW posts (just blur them), and content filtering doesn’t fully work, so I’m left seeing a lot of things that I don’t want to see. The dev is working on fixing this and seems really receptive to feedback, so I’m sure this is something that will fully work in the future. The best client used to be Apollo before it was shutdown due to Reddit charging for API access. Narwhal 2 has taken the crown. I had been using Apollo through other means but now have completely switched over to Narwhal after adding open in Narwhal from Safari. The layout is done well with no extraneous content. Zero disappointment, works smooth and fast. Love it. I’ve been using Narwhal 1 for ages and was always a fan, but with Reddit introducing api fees and stuff, I initially hesitated to subscribe to the updated version. Finally I decided that I’ll try it and see how it goes and well, no regrets so far. To developers — thank you and keep up the good work!

The iOS app has been pretty frustrating to use, particularly not being able to enlarge the text size (grrr). I love how customizable nearly every element of this app is. It’s really astonishing. And it works quite well. Most of its limitations have to do with being a third-party app, and Reddit limits certain functions. It’s a fair trade off from my pov.

Used this and many other apps including Apollo has all the features I want. Worth the money to have features the official app doesn’t care about.

I will never pay a subscription fee just to browse a website. Reddit’s own website and mobile app are shovelware. Therefore, Reddit itself is shovelware and you must pay third party developers to provide a useable platform. And Reddit has the audacity to charge these developers for fixing their own website? After the API fiasco, I thought I was fine with Reddit. Gave Norwal a try and I’m really enjoying it. Easy to use, good layout, and ability to change it if you desire. Very well done.

Worth the price of admission and you should absolutely consider an "extra support" subscription. The dev is super active in responding to feedback on the subreddit and clearly committing a ton of their free time to continuous improvements. The app itself outshines Apollo at its peak (for me) and is very close to reaching how happy I was with Sync on Android. I truly tried my hardest to boycott Reddit after their API pricing debacle. I just couldn’t keep myself away. I tried using their native app but it is just a complete mess, riddled with terrible ads. I’m not quite sure how the video player works. As there seem to be multiple. Is it third party from the links or native to the app? I know YouTube links are third party of course. Either way, the functionality for scrolling the progress bar (very tiny and registers my scrolls as other gestures), finding time stamps, and muting and unmuting are all clunky.

You need more better reviews! To me, this is my Vision Pro killer app. I ride my exercise bike with Vision Pro and watch videos and stuff, and then I switch over and use this app to read Reddit. Even though it’s operating in iPad compatibility mode, it works outstandingly. Keep up the good work!

Very happy with this app. Apollo was perfect, Narwhal2 is a close 2nd.

App description states that it is “free” and to “browse as much as you like” then immediately slams you with a pay wall and subscription before you can browse at all. I understand reddit and the API change. What I don’t understand is misleading people by saying something is free and then editing in a subscription at the end.

I used to use the official Reddit app for years. I tried the original Narwhal app and I didn't like it. Now with this one, I like it a lot more. I'm sad that I have to pay to use it because of Reddits API nonsense but also happy to do so for at least a few months. Good job, Rick.

Articles within the app browser are nearly unreadable. Adblockers don’t seem to work within the app as they do when using safari directly even if the “turn off content blockers” option is not enabled. Even so, articles will have large popups for subscriptions or read-limits. No way to easily clear cookies inside the app. No way to access safari’s reader-mode inside the app that would bypass all the popups and ads. Really makes reading actual linked articles nearly impossible

Superb Reddit alternative, almost to perfection compared to Apollo. However, my app has been having issues not displaying Thumbnails/Images which is pretty important to most Reddit Posts. So this app gets 2 Stars till that’s fixed
