20 Positive User Reviews for Nashville Numbers
Love the app and the ease of writing charts. I’ve used this a ton already and shared it amongst my bandmates who love the look of it as well. I do wanna ask if it’s possible to add parenthesis in the keyboard for chords that aren’t played in the song (a crows participation section or drum solo for example) and also a double line underneath the chords for quick passing chords. Also would love the ability to copy a chart I’ve already made so I can experiment with having two versions of the same
While I’m enjoying the app, there appears to be an issue when using the stylus to write notes. The stylus works fine in the Notes app. But in NNS, it starts out okay, there seems to be latency issues and then the letters look “wonky.” It’s almost as though it can’t render as written so it “cuts corners.” I have made sure the OS is up to date. I have also cleared the ram and closed all other apps. Since I do take a lot of notes, this is important to me. Thanks for your time.
I have used this app for years and absolutely love it. This has not only allowed me to learn the Nashville Numbers system, but has made transposing songs so much easier! I used to use my own shorthand system, but this has been a great tool that has made charting songs way easier to do and manage!
I’ve spent a couple of hours looking through the tutorials but there is no reference to the most basic function of placing one number above another to denote the bass line. There are examples, so it must be possible. But a well kept secret that makes the app useless for me. Else, brilliant. Update: Finally found the secret! Very happy now and I’ve done many charts with the app.
So useful, really intuitive once you get familiar with the layout. Would love to see more organizational tools for saved songs in updates (folders to sort by artist or something?). The option to export as a pdf AND the editable NNS file is really useful too. (UPDATE: so they did EXACTLY this with their update. So awesome, thanks yall!)
I love this app a lot. The only thing I would like to do is be able to put songs in a set list. The online distribution says you can but I haven’t found it yet. Otherwise I choose this app over 1 chart
Hi. I am not seeing a way to notate major(M) or minor (m) chords when they are accidentals. I am using annotation for now but that is tricky and messy. I am missing something simple? Thanks!
I have spoke with the developers a few times and they have truly created something wonderful. Is it buggy? Yes. Are they always taking feedback to improve? Yes. I submitted a suggestion yesterday and it is already in the cue for an update. I do wish we had updates more frequently, but this is created by developers who are not full time developers and this is a side project from their main careers. However, this reason is another for why this app will blow you away. I use it and then transfer the
My only qualm would be to add a maj/ min key for example a 2maj
Top-notch digital app for making charts, efficiently and cleanly. Not much I would change about the chart making tool itself. However, the app is missing organizational features. User-made charts are listed alphabetically in one long list, rather than in individual files or modules such as “artist” or “genre”, which is a huge pain when searching for material on the spot. Of course, users can always export charts to their own organizational apps, but an internal filing system is surprisingly abs
Great app for the cost. Does exactly what I expected it to. Only two issues: the 'X's don't line up underneath numbers, looks uneven. And on the desktop app, it's cumbersome to use the mouse to input symbols. I know this is meant mostly for iPad, but it would be great to use it on the desktop as well. Highly recommend this app, even with the two issues! Makes my chart writing so much clearer, as opposed to my horrible handwriting
I’m new to the Nashville Number system and had been writing charts out by hand. Now that I have others to play with, I’m using this app to make cleaner charts and quickly send them via email. Switching to the letter names is a HUGE feature - perfect for when you have musicians not accustomed to the number system. My only feature request would be text annotations, and the ability to insert a time signature change. Definitely check this one out!
I have a basic understanding of the NNS but the app is usable because the help sparse. I guess it’s supposed to be intuitive but it’s not intuitive for someone like me who’s not totally steeped in NNS. It needs a thorough user guide.
This app was very easy for me to use and begin charting with. Just get in there and start pushing buttons. Very useful…👍🏻👍🏻
Really loved charting with this app, was super fast. Had some problems lining up consecutive lines when the types of chords used are different. Ie if your first line has no accidentals or split bars, if you need those in the following line it shifts where your measures land and is out of sync with the previous line. Had a few Nashville guys tell me this was harder to read because the spots where the measures land kept shifting. Would be awesome to be able to make more specific spacing adjustment
I’ve used this app a little and I like it. I’m not a studio whiz and I don’t use NNS everyday, but iCloud integration would be huge, especially with a true MAC companion app (this version works on my M2 MacBook), so I can work off of whichever device is closest, without having to retype the song. Thanks for this!
In my opinion this is a really good app. Especially for the price. However, I think it needs a line to put the artist. -Lenny
Ive really wanted a NN app for a long time and stumbled on this one. Great idea but charting is taking me so much longer with it. Can only copy/paste by starting a new section and pasting into that new section making the chart look confusing if I for instance just want to copy a 4 bar phrase to use in the same repeating chorus without using repeat signs. Would love to just be able to long press a bar or 2 and paste them wherever I need them. As is it just seems much quicker to chart on paper and
This app is tremendous! I can literally chart on the fly quicker than with pen and paper. The developers have been so responsive in answering my questions. I’m new to NNS, after decades of charting tunes the old way. Thousands of gigs and countless rehearsals later- you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. The system has been a revelation to me, and the app has depth and simplicity at the same time. That’s a lot to ask. This app would be a bargain at 5 times the price! Congrats!
Really great app, just missing a couple of features that would make it perfect. Please add more traditional notation on the second page! Would love to be able to write rhythmic notation above a Nashville number. Quarters and eighth notes (dotted and undotted) and triplets would be awesome and so helpful to include in more rhythmically complex songs. Thanks!
