NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth News App Reviews

Good app overall but the last few days the app shows thousands of notifications. Yesterday after a work day I had over 11K. Not sure what’s going on. My phone isn’t going off 11K times thank God.

Have enjoyed using this app until this week when it has started showing that I have hundreds of notifications!!! I deleted and reinstalled and even turned off all notifications and it now says I have 821.

What has happened to the red dot count. I check the app several times a day, but lately when one new story is published, the count displayed has hundreds or thousands displayed. It’s gotten very irritating. I just checked and the count was Zero. Saw a notification for one new story and the count said 11,033! Please fix this.

Really like the smooth live stream feature. Use this app a lot for the weather. Will a future update allow you to save a specific location for weather? In other words, when using Follow Me, be able to save that exact location and name it. Currently only able to save cities. Many people live out in the country, not close to a city.

Cant say enough about Rick Mitchell and his crew. So many times we rely on his accurate and helpful information and so calming in bad storms. Have been watching NBC DFW for decades and he is the best weatherman in town. Even with the crazy changes second by second he is top of it. So many times he saved us from some scary close calls being out or about in it. A true Godsend to DFW

I love the weather and news. The radar and forecasts are the best I’ve found locally so far. HOWEVER- for the love of God, give us an option to tune severe weather alerts. I don’t need 4 alerts an hour for a thunderstorm watch expiring in 6 hours. Let me turn off “watch” alerts.

Why is a news person wearing low cut dresses/etc revealing cleavage?? It is SO inappropriate!! Please have her dress in a business-like manner!! Thank you🙌🏻

I have been a certified Storm Spotter for 10 yrs but I had to move from where I had lived 13 yrs and no longer have the wonderful visual I had at my other home. Since I can’t even see outside, I now watch the weather on LIVE Channel 5 and the “other” LIVE TX Storm Chasers App for their radar. Yes, there IS another LIVE weather reporter in TX. Between the two options I can still know what is happening all the time. Channel 5 has the best reporting and predictions! Keep up the great work. I

Good app, but I haven't figured out if I can watch live TV (college football) or only news and weather.

I love the news station, particularly the meteorologists. They are usually spot on with forecasts. What I dislike, is this app. The weather portion freezes up frequently. It did the same thing on my previous iPhone as well, so it isn’t the phone. Streaming is iffy at best. I have tried removing then reloading the app to no avail. This has been going on for years.

The app show several hours behind when I open for current weather. It’s almost 11pm and app shows weather from 4pm saying “Now”.

I tried to reinstall app to see if it would update . I cannot get past the screen after “allow notifications?”. The screen grays out and my iPad freezes.

This app has very little local news. The only reason I downloaded the app was to be aware of local activity in my city. All day I’m being notified and reading about national pop culture and simple events, like ‘national hot dog day’. The city I used to live in, their news app was top tier compared to this one.

When it works, the app is great. However, most of the time, the app does not load. When I open it, the screen is frozen. I have to open and close it out several times before there is even a chance of it working.

I keep seeing the same news story in my feed being repeated 5 different times with varying paraphrases of the same headline. I would LOVE if every link actually led to a new story. Half the time, the sound on the videos doesn’t even work. The breaking news articles can be irritating to read through as it’s flagged as having updates but you have to read the same five paragraphs for a one sentence update. Don’t even get me started on the weather radar, I couldn’t count on a correct forecast if

I have had this app on my phone for years. It has never worked properly. It constantly freezes when trying too open app. I have deleted it and try bringing it back on occasion to see if it has been fixed. Nope. Still freezes. I have other weather apps on my phone and do not experience performance issues with them. It’s a shame the developer can’t get this fixed because on the rare occasion when it works, it has the potential to be a good app. Save yourself the frustration and use another weathe

The app won’t load data more than half of the time I open it.

Constantly freezes when it switches to the weather tab. Even if you open and close it, it opens in the same tab and remains frozen. It’s a shot in the dark if it’ll actually work or not and most of the time it doesn’t. The weather notifications are nice but the story notifications are too much and you can have between 5-15 a day and it gets annoying. The biggest drawback as I said is the main thing I use it for, weather, rarely works.
