Bought and Used this app the night of December 20, 2022, about 100 miles north of Anchorage. It helped me take great photos of the northern lights. I had an iPhone 12 and used a tripod and a stylus to activate the shutter (kept my hands from freezing) throughout the two hours session. I used the tutorial that is part of the app and set my camera up following instructions. I did try just the iPhone photo app and it was “okay,” but the pictures using the Night Cap app were a lot better. Good v
This app is great for nighttime and Astrophotos, stars, planets, moon, lightening, you name it. Easy automated control take a lot of guesswork out. Was really impressed with photo quality using XR phone.
Pretty good app. Still figuring out how to use it. I recommend it
Making time-lapse videos and star trails is awesome! However, it’s hard to get up before sunrise to turn it off before it ruins your entire exposure in the case of star trails. How hard can it be to add a timer to end the exposure?
Remote settings turned on and works sometimes but mostly not. Very glitchy! Don’t bother PIA!
Been using this app for years and I’ve tried so many in hopes of finding something similar or better and I always revert back to this one. Best I’ve tried for astrophotog by far!
Amazing app for stargazing
Does it’s job beautifully. You need to make a version for Android.

Great app but it would be TERRIFIC if I could print an instruction manual
Would he really good for devices without night mode, but I found it lacking compared to the night mode photos I can take on my 12 pro. Good for older devices, though.
Using a remote shutter suffers with only 1 pic then stops working.
Great ideas for how to improve photography. And great night photography. But not intuitive to use and hard to figure out the controls.
The app is so laggy that I can’t use it most of the time. I am using an iPhone 12 Pro, so it really shouldn’t be a problem. The function of the app itself seems to work well, but the lagginess makes it difficult to use.
Definitely worth the $3 to get an awesome “light trail” exposure picture of the Falcon 9 Crew 2 rocket launch!
Hi, Love the app. I would love a feature that stops your phone from going to sleep :)
I absolutely love this app - it is incredibly powerful for night photography, star trails, etc. Absolutely worth the money if you like astronomy or want a more powerful way to take low light photos
This is a wonderful app - lots of great features - I particularly love the meteor shower mode! Customer service was impressive - I got an answer to a question I asked back within hours of sending.
I don’t know why some bad reviews. I’ve had this app now for over a year and it works great. I have the iPhone XS Max. Takes a little messing around with, but overall I’m very happy with this. Definitely worth the money
The Comet Neowise looks really clear in the picture thanks to the app!
NightCap is amazing. Set up my creaky old iPhone 6 on a tripod and got fantastic images of the Perseids meteors. So easy to use and great results! Love it.
I use NightCap exclusively for astrophotography using my iPhone 11. It does a fantastic job with nebulas, galaxies, and star clusters. Highly recommended.
Give yourself plenty of time to practice, don’t wait until the starling satellites are flying over to figure it out (my bad).
This app is so good for nighttime photography and northern lights which worked like a charm on my trip to northern Norway it caught the auroras like an expensive camera but it’s really cheap. 5 stars
Great app and my go to for night shots but please add RAW capabilities. Thanks!
Didn’t even know that my camera had this capability... it works amazingly well good job
I haven’t yet used every feature. Still figuring the best way to get the effects I’m looking for. But I’m amazed so far with the control I do use.
Seems like it will get the job done
Impressive software, the best I could find
I don’t use it much but it’s a great Little app!
I’ve only had this app on my 8+ for a couple of nights and I love it (r‘.
Well, sad to say, but the night mode is not as good as Apples night mode. I tested it in same location with a tripod and same exposure time. Apples night mode does better when hand held too. Hopefully stars mode/star trails mode is better.
Easy to use, well laid out app. Thanks
iPhone camera is so versatile, yet the native app lacks features. This app makes the most of those features. Money well spent.
This app has so many features and is easy to create amazing unique artistic images.
Extraordinary for night-sky photography! Nothing else like it. Expands the ability of an iPhone camera so much, there’s no reason not to add it.
I bought this app 2days ago before I got a nice Northern Light at Abisko, Sweden!!

It's an okay app that has potential, but claims it can be used with Apple watch, volume buttons or headphones for the shutter. It can't. At least on the iPhone 12 pro max and Apple watch series 5. Pretty big letdown.
The filter looks incredible but it lags very bad when in Star view mode. I have an iPhone XS as well.
Doesn't have nearly as much as I thought and you have no option to choose a picture from a different album or edit them
If you hold your phone steady, the picture will focus so it is a longer than normal process to take a night or low light picture. The zoom feature is absolutely horrible.
