Noir - Dark Mode for Safari App Reviews

This app saves me day. I have ocular graft versus host disease which makes dark reading a must for me. I’ve been using this for over a year and I love it.

Wanted the ability to set dark mode- simply show black instead of white backgrounds, swap black font colors to white. Other than that, I wanted it out of the way; a real set and forget type deal. This is so much more, automatically synching to both my iPads. Only setting it to do what I want had been simple. This app definitely makes Safari pages dark even if they don’t support Dark Mode. But it does seem to slow down either loading or rendering of pages.

An incredible tool to get dark mode on all websites, genuinely impressive how well this plugin works.

Put simply, Noir delivers *exactly* what it promises. I mean, what more could you ask for? You can't. Actually, that doesn't do this developer, or his extension, justice—Noir flawlessly executes *EXACTLY* what it claims to do. Seamless integration into Safari. It offers the perfect amount of customization, striking a balance between overwhelming and insulting. Honestly, it's a beautiful, and increasingly rare, thing to see.

I’ve tried out several dark mode apps for Safari on my iPhone and Noir has been the best yet! Highly recommend to anyone that could benefit from webpages being darkened at night.

I love the fact that it is only a one time payment and not some subscription based thing. I find bright screens very straining to my eyes and this extension is a lifesaver. I didn’t think something like this would exist.

If you have websites that aren’t working, click the extension tab again and select “ignore built in dark mode”. I went back into the Nior app and selected “Ignore all built in dark modes” so I don’t have to do that every time. I bought this because the Travel Guide app is so nice that I wanted to see how good this one is too lol. I’ve always wanted dark mode on safari yay!!!

Works as intended

On those websites that this app works, it’s very useful, but I have to constantly disable it to read some websites which basically present a blank page when the background doesn’t get darkened. I’m not a fan of this new web design fetish of dark,low contrast text that makes this app necessary

I bought the app on aios, but now i bought a macbook and i have to buy the same app again for mac only. why can't they just merge these versions?

The dark mode and associated options are great and just work. Also, the support is great. After some months of use a few of my frequented websites stopped working with Noir, but I submitted a report through the super quick and simple link and it was addressed pretty quickly in an update to the app. Highly recommended for a more pleasant browsing experience!

Love this app so much. It’s a one time price, not a monthly fee. It’s smart enough to automatically work on sites that need it and it will ignore sites that already use other dark mode settings. You can configure the background color in settings as well and choose from different shades/colors. You can configure specific sites individually. Buying it on my iPad also allowed me to use it on my iPhone. This has made reading in bed at night so much better. Would recommend this app to anyone who want

Noir is the best Safari dark mode app that I've tried (especially for that perfect black OLED look). I've tried Dark Reader, Hyperweb, Nitefall, and Darker - Dark Mode for Safari. My principal complaint is that Noir is not cross platform. You have to buy Noir for each Apple Vision Pro, Mac, iPhone/iPad making this one of the most expensive options out there.

I can’t believe how long I’ve gone squinting at bright white webpages! As a light sensitive person, this app has made browsing the web comfortable again. I don’t hesitate to read longer blogs and stories now. Thank you!

This issue appears to have been fixed. My original rating is below. This is a pretty good app, but unfortunately the set up screen doesn't work well with screen readers. After getting past the set up process, the app works well. The developer just has to update the welcome screen. I will change my review once this happens. This has been such a great app. I purchased it not long after it was released and take it for granted how great it is. It feels like it’s a natural part of Safari. I couldn’t go back to reading web content after sunset without this app, it’s a crucial part of my workflow. Just get it you will love it!

The frequent updates set it apart from competitors, aside from the features. Plus Jeffrey seems genuinely engaged with his app and the users. I take it as a sign of trouble when I see a ton of reviews, without any comments from the developer (whether the reviews are positive or negative).

The extension fails to properly darken websites such as apple.com not worth the money

Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick

on most apps it will try and make dark mode but it doesn’t work and just makes black on black text

What else can I say? Ask this developer and you shall receive. Too bad it can’t work in apps and PWAs too!

Amazing app. It works perfectly 99.99% of the time. And the other 0.01% is just minor things you wouldn’t even notice.

As I use my iPad for personal and work, I have Edge and Firefox installed as well as they both have dark mode settings… However, I use Safari for personal matters as Edge is linked to my business… After finally trying to find out how to make Safari dark (as I use it at night), I decided to purchase this extension and must say it is exactly what I was looking for… Although, I really wish Apple would have incorporated such a simple feature into Safari…

Great addition to Safari. Like others have said it’s pretty much essential. Works on all websites for me in Safari without any issues on my iPad Pro. Use with Ghostery extension and you should have no issues browsing the internet with dark mode everywhere and with speed.

Was working well for a while but recently Safari on iPhone has been crashing saying “a problem repeatedly occurred”. Never happened before I installed Noir

I have but one complaint, and that is simply that I can’t somehow get this as an extension for my Windows desktop. Works beautifully!

Whether for macOS or iOS, the updates are frequent and the developer is quite responsive. This works really well and is well worth downloading.

As much as I might've wanted to tell you I was *better* than the Dark Mode phase, the truth is, the ability to darken a blinding web page with a single keyboard shortcut (`^⌥N`) has literally changed my browsing life. I have asked so much of this extension - dozens of custom themes, tens of thousands of domain preference entries - and it does stumble sometimes!... But its by far the best supported of the many hyped dark mode Safari Extensions on this marketplace, and its balance of control granu

I purchased this on my iPad and it works well. However, it is asking me to pay again on my Mac safari browser. It doesn’t seem fair that I have to pay twice when it’s the same iCloud account

This dark mode extension provides a “pure black” theme that works well on most sites and will actually turn off background pixels.

Does not log any data!

Sometimes you feel you’re burning money buying stuff on the App Store. It’s refreshing to see you keeping the app up-to-date. This is a worthy purchase!

1- Reading the web with a dark background is blissful 2- saving on battery is a nice perk too.

Don't waste time trying all the inferior free apps, just buy this one. It is fantastic, and the developer has continued to tweak and improve it over time. And when a website doesn't render properly, you can easily disable just that website, or even change the theme for just that website, without having to disable the entire extension. An absolute must-have app for OLED iPhones.

Yeah this does what it says with no issues or hassle. Hope they get credit when Apple inevitably bundles this into safari.

Finally something that actually works and that does not mess up the webpages!

Tried multiple plug-ins for the dark theme in ios, and this is the best, worth every penny paid for it.

Repeatedly causes some websites to reload themselves until you encounter the dreaded “A problem repeatedly occurred” error in Safari iOS. Turning Noir off solves the problem but then why have Noir? I hope they’re able to fix this annoying problem soon. Until then, I would not recommend Noir.
