Can control audio volume
But can’t click hold & restart from earbud controller while listening from iPhone -2stars. Have to haul out phone and fiddle w touch controls to pause audio.
Also - It’s a little difficult to navigate app to find older articles. Also can’t seem to delete an article after I listen to it. Unfinished articles rotate back up to top of listening list.
RECENT GLITCH (excellent otherwise)
This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review. I love(d) this app until a week or so ago, when it became nearly unusable. I’m not sure if it’s due to an update or an issue with my phone, but now, in the first 3ish seconds of using the app, it works perfectly. Then, it freezes for up to a minute or two, rendering the app useless. Sometimes, even after, scrolling is sticky and it doesn’t function properly. Every time you close the app and reopen, the same cycle occurs. Help!!
App became very slow recently
Sometime in the last two weeks, this otherwise great app got so slow that it’s difficult to use. Doesn’t seem to be related to iOS version. Doesn’t seem to be related to cashed data or other such matters. I’m sad about the change because it’s seriously impacts usability.
Love, that is still portals.
Like being thinking, this is recently, the movement if the load, thoughts dreams, thus ramifications. Listrning the idea, of the journalistic world, take a moment.
I like it.
Greatest material, wonderful variety!! This relatively unskilled computer-audio user has some difficulties navigating the site. But, it is now taking over as my go-to listening while doing chores, solitary meals, etc. I would miss it a whole lot if it went away.
Timesaver/ NYT Audio
I am an audio file bus audio NYT is a saver for me. Generally, I use my eyeballs all day to read, write, math, and watch birds. They are too tired to read fine print, but my ears listen and never tire. And YT allows me to get a perspective on topics of interest while I put around the house doing chores. That is how I keep my mind engaged and accomplish the tasks of daily living. It’s a great way to stay abreast of national and news and keep up with the daily beast.
Why are there ads???
Most of this content can be gotten in my regular podcast app. I’m a NYTimes subscriber. Why are there ads if I listen while logged in through this app???
Love this app
It’s a really good app with plenty of content.

HI
I look forward to each news event and whatever I pick is very engaging. Please don’t take this as a dig but my dog is a big part of my life and cuts into my reading time. He hates it when I pick up a book but the podcasts finds him raptly listening as I do also.

More audio
The Washi ngton Post Tthe Washington Posthas almost all articles with a visual option. I have low vision and that would be a great asset
It’s okay
Sometimes, when I use this app, I wonder why it exists. Most of these stories could be in podcast form and accessible via a central player with the rest of my audio. It would have more value if there were more content. There have been significant stories in the Times that I’d like to listen to at the gym or during my commute, but they weren’t available in an audio format.
No CarPlay is the fatal flaw
Like many people, I listen to things on my commute. The app is well made, I love the content, but never use it as there’s no CarPlay support.
CarPlay a Must
I hope it’s on the roadmap for a very near term update. In the car is where I do most of my audio listening and without this functionality the app’s usability is limited.
2 Negative User Reviews for NYT Audio
Slow running and glitching
I’ve been using the app since they released last summer. App always ran fine before but in the last couple updates the app now doesn’t load properly, runs very slow, and is not easy to use.
Love the content but there needs to be some fixes to the lagging of the app.
No point
You have to be a subscribed to use this app but there are still ads, just as much as listening to the podcast on other platforms. So I don’t see the point of having this extra app just for NYT podcasts.
