45 Positive User Reviews for Obsidian

Good, but not yet great.

Beats Quip which I was using previously. Still has some glaringly bad user experiences such as adding photos often makes getting the cursor back to continue adding content to the bottom of the page on mobile damn near impossible. 1-2 minutes wasted every time I add a photo without thinking first that I need to add extra white space.

Fixed some issues — now it’s nearly perfect!

I love so much about this app and its computer counterpart. My biggest issues with the app now is that moving around with the cursor to try to tap the right spots is a bit annoying. But that’s all, really!

Exactly what I need

Obsidian is exactly what I need, nothing more, nothing less. Most other apps talk about customization, but obsidian is truly customizable. And , plus, due to the way it’s developed and hosted, it’s a good contender in this day and age of infrastructure-based apps for true legacy software.

I can’t login with google?

Please make my life easier so that the desktop version of obsidian which I use with my google credentials, does the same thing with app version.

Alternate Icons.

Any way we can get some fun new alt icons for the app?

Obsidian is for the ages

I've been an Obsidian user on desktop + iPad + iPhone for years. Just the ability to have all my book highlights in one place is amazing. But the beauty of Obsidian is its infinity adaptability and now with tools like Claude Code, I'm not getting bogged down in setup. I think it's a renaissance time for PKM and markdown is the magic under the hood!

Great app but the new Ui is a step backwards

Obsidian is my daily driver. I highly recommend.

Back to great!

I was having some issues with UI elements taped up beside the island, but the developers fixed it. 😀 so glad to be able to use my favorite notes app again.

Buttons out of bounds

The top buttons are out of bounds and not tappable on latest version. Broken app currently. Please fix. Update: Fixed as of 2/8/2026

Glass redesign is trash

Unusable Update: Usable again now that you can disable glass on the edit screen, -2 star just cause not as polished as it was. Maybe bugs: - and only way to close search keyboard is to press search or slide right. - slight stutter on swipe and drawer transition overlays - seems like some icons like the line above and below square do nothing? - closing the command pallete by clicking done opens file properties

Love the idea but buggy

I have lots of issues positioning the cursor, getting menus (autocorrect, cut/copy) to display. It's like the devs tried to reimplement these functions instead of using the proven iOS capabilities and it's very frustrating. Would love to see the right sidebar be more useful, or configurable. Currently it just shows links for an open file but it seems like this sidebar is a better place many of the file menu actions. I'd love to slide the bar open to easily close a file, move a file, delete a f

The best

But -2 stars for the cost of Sync. $8/mo is just too much for how little you get.

Good

The last update slowed the app so much I'm having to try over and over to advance the cursor to further paragraphs in my notes.

Better than evernote

AUTO CREATED BRAIN GRAPHS, INCREDIBLE

A different kind of note taking

You should try it. I can recommend it to anyone.

Great app

Wonderfully designed app that’s easy to use.

amazing !

amazing app and its amazing its still being updated ! has lots of features and options too :]

Amazing ecosystem for knowledge management

I been using One Note for years, I recently switched to Obsidian, and I am impressed. This is an excellent ecosystem of app, plugins and solutions for personal knowledge management, note taking, task management, and everything in between.

Why pay for subscription apps like Notion or Craft?

Makes zero sense. Obsidian crushes ‘em all for free.

Transforming the way I take notes

The graph was the selling point for me, seeing how to connect all my notes made it really helpful to go back to certain notes I’ve taken and attach everything together. This is my go to note taking app and the one I use exclusively now.

The most satisfying writing tool

I have been using obsidian for years now and I have to say that the team who makes this app are triply incredible and deserve all of the love, they work hard to make this tool even more useful and easy to use say by day. This is my first time writing a review after using a cell phone for most of my life, and I have to say that this app is definitely worth your time. I have written pages upon pages of lord and notes for my world.

Fantastic

It works great, and the folder organization is something I wanted, which is rarer and rarer on mobile The one thing I wish could be fixed is how janky the fast scroll bar is (the press-and-hold the scroll bar feature), as it drops you wherever after around a second of holding the bar

The best markdown-based app

After trying many other alternatives, I was very happy to settle with Obsidian. It's very versatile and has a rich plugin ecosystem for even more customizations. I use Obsidian for note-taking (both personal and classwork), project todo tracking, and general "knowledge-gathering".

Lacking widgets. Otherwise great app!

Incredible writing app. Just amazing. Powerful notes/writing tool. Impeccable and absolutely essential to anyone who prefers markdown or daily notes. Fantastic alternative to Bear. My only critique is it seriously lacks iOS Widgets capabilities. Otherwise a pristine choice for writing.

Ux mediocre on mobile

Obsidian is an awesome note taking and second brain app for desktop. It has excellent cross device sync and a wealth of plugins. The downside is the mobile app is not integrated into mobile os. The ux is clunky html and there are close to zero integrations with native features like multiwindowing, no shortcuts integration and poor default in app navigation ux. The Craft app blows the UX away and then some. For device based scenarios I’ve repeatedly tried obsidian mobile and end up using craft

Life changing

This tool can help you be a better human.

Exactly what I was looking for

Who wouldn't like an app that saves all your files locally in markdown and is not only user friendly but filled with powerful efficiently improvements? A+

One of the top apps in the App Store.

This is an exceptional app and the best in my opinion.

Beautiful Redesign

The new UI is clean, minimal and simple. My biggest gripe with the mobile app was the initial design. Now the app is easy and simple to use. Beautiful job!

Amazing!

I used vscode to create markdown files to manage everything from my TODO list to snippets. I also wrote some tasks to help with my workflow but then I found Obsidian! I am blown away! It has every feature I want and more. So cool!

A new age Emacs, great for everything

Great application! I love the Desktop and Android apps, and this one doesn't disappointing either (I was expecting plugin limitations, but that's not really the case!). I’m looking forward to the Canvas feature on iPhone!

My new favorite app 💪🙂

Love this as a second brain. Speedy. Search is almost limitless!!! Hallelujah! No complaints after I watched many you tube videos to learn how to use it. Thank you developers

godsend

amazing amazing app with no price or data collection. props to you.

Thank you very much

Your hard works is noticed and greatly appreciated!

Best OneNote alternative for Developers

Secure notes that sync with iCloud. Support for markdown and the rich community of plugins takes note taking to the next level. For software developers this is the best app for an engineering notebook.

One note taking app to rule them all

Highly modular, customizable, and non linear. It’s really like a sandbox for your thoughts and writing. With community plugins, this app can be modified to complement any style of productivity and workflow. Works equally across iphone, ipad, macbook, and this icloud sync is just perfect

My go-to app

I use this app to manage all tasks and notes because its search results show matching lines (so a note can contain tagged tasks in context) and its cloud sync is encrypted end-to-end. Thank you, developer!

This is Great - Knowledge Graph personal notes

I do a lot of work professionally with knowledge graphs and other types of advance data storage techniques. I’ve always wanted a mix of some thing that has the graph capability of Neo4J and the ability for me to quickly create notes. My new favorite app

Outstanding

Obsidian + Things 3 is the perfect second brain for me. I use Obsidian all day long for work and personal notes, ideas, and pretty much anything else. The cross-platform syncing is superb (I use iCloud for sync). I also have a few plugins for things like Matter, a reading app, which work perfectly. The keyboard shortcuts are invaluable. I literally can’t say enough good things about Obsidian. So thankful for the developers’ hard work on a truly outstanding app.

Great

I like writing on here (gestures toward the keyboard, the app).

Great app but…

I love obsedian! Would love it more if the app supported the iPhone 13 Pro’s 120hz display!

Callouts are Buggy

Can’t type any regular text underneath a callout without it automatically being put into the callout, forcing me to skip an extra line.

1 Negative User Reviews for Obsidian

Latest update broke the app

I am a diehard obsidian user! Plugins, AI, everything. The new UI on iOS is really wasting a lot of space?. PLEASE tweak to something that is hybrid of new and old layout. Also the latest update iCloud is no longer syncing at all. :-( It used to run a while but always synced. Now half my files visible on desktop in iCloud vault are missing.
