15 Positive User Reviews for Open GPX Tracker

Has helped me make race track videos!

Don't usually leave reviews, but this product has been too good to be quiet. Been using the data from my phone via Open GPX Tracker to capture my track runs during HPDE. I love how it's no frills and allows me to focus on my drive. I'll use a telemetry overlay program to extract this, then produce a video that doesn't look canned for other student drivers. I've been recommending this app to anyone with an iPhone that wants to trace their routes. Thank you, Open GPX Tracker team!

Importing maps/ editing tracks

There was a problem tracking one of my events. A very severe gps glitch due to weather or something caused the track to skew off to a point about 0.5 k away and come back. There needs to be a way to edit this before exporting. Also it would be a nice feature if users could import heir own geo-referenced map image. Thanks. There were also recently two tracks that had some sort of failed code. Even though they open in gpx, they cause a mapmaking program to crash.

False trk entries

Several times recently, on both my 7watch and I phone, the data stream generated 2 or 3 false entries at the end of the route. This kept the program “quickroute” from fully launching, as an error message popped up. One of the users on my Facebook page found these problems when he viewed the gpx files. The files work correctly in other programs though, such as google earth.

Ok

Noting special, but then it’s free Will get the job done and maybe a good place to start before “paying” for one of the more professional apps I used it to test loading saved GPX and worked fine - zero issues Again, worth trying

Remarkably Simple App

Great app for creating a GPX track from a hike or other activity. I appreciate the simple user interface. It would be nice if it was able to save the OpenTopoMap for a specific area for offline use.

In order to cool off the battery

I manually lock/unlock screen when running the app. Practically it's not difficult to turn the tracking on for some seconds and off for a period.

Great little app

As an officer in civil air patrol this is a super app that does alot and doesn’t require internet connectivity or nag nag about buying something.

Street Names & Speed Limits

I would give the app a five star review if when you’re in Apple satellite for map source the street names would come up as well as posted speed limits.

Great for geotagging photos

I used this on a recent trip to capture GPS location data so I could tag photos when I got home. The watch app is quite good, very convenient to use and pretty easy on the battery. No issues tracking for 4-6 hours and still using the watch normally the entire day. Easy to transfer GPX files from watch to phone and no problem at all using them in tagging app on Mac.

New issue on rev. 1.10.0

Just updated and I am unable to open all my old tracker files. Reinstalled and all my old files were gone. This is the 1st time I encountered this problem. iOS 26.2. iPhone 13 Pro. Otherwise, good and clean app. No ads and no in-app purchases. Thanks.

Great application

The application was very useful, both for opening GPX files and for making them. I especially liked the ability to swap between two different file tiles. It even did background GPX recording, which is useful for tracking hikes or for backtracking when travelling. I really wish the developer of this app would update it. It would also be nice if it were to support Apple offline (cached) maps. A recent patch was released for iOS 26, and I appreciate the developers and contributors for maintaining

Great app in general, but a little buggy

I appreciate this well-designed, completely free GPX tracker, and it has worked perfectly for my needs. However, I have recently encountered a bug where the GPX file sometimes doesn’t save (I have set the app to save to an iCloud folder) and I have lost several tracks thanks to that. Luckily I don’t do anything super import with the app, otherwise this bug would be more than just a minor inconvenience. Other than that, this app is, in my opinion, the best GPS logging app out there.

My files are all lost

solved after an update

2 Negative User Reviews for Open GPX Tracker

Formerly a great tool, currently useless due to a bug

When it works, it’s great. However, I’ve been encountering a bug recently where saving a file does nothing, and trying to open the save folder from inside app causes it to crash. I’ve lost four of my last five tracked outings because of this.

Easy to use doesn’t work

Added gpx file in setting and wouldn’t display under the main files folder
