I want to love this app, and with time I’m sure it will be great, but I couldn’t get past the onboarding screens due to it blocking me from the map even after completion.
It’s a great app to help find new and often off the beaten path places to paddle.
Great info that is updated regularly. Excellent resource. Highly recommended for paddlers of all skill levels.
Paddle Ways made our trip so much smoother—accurate maps, easy navigation, and super reliable offline. It took the stress out of route-finding and let us focus on enjoying the beauty of the Boundary Waters. A must-have app!
I’m a Canoe and Kayaker and 4 months into the PaddleWays app. I am often in search of new waterways to paddle and details are important to me. The app has the ability for users to upload pictures of rapids or route details and even vehicle shuttle options however, there is very little information. Also would be nice to see other common routes that people take. Tidal schedule is something that Im constantly looking up, would be nice if the app had a tool for that.
With so much private land, it’s sometimes difficult to find access. With Paddleways I found a sweet public launch (with a floating dock) hidden away behind a nondescript gravel parking lot. You’d never know it was there. It gave me access to some fantastic fishing areas. Worth it for that alone. Cheers!
This app is a great idea, it just needs some more data for my area. Also, the app is a little glitchy and could use some TLC.
Does anyone else have issues with the measurement feature. I love that you can plot points on the river and measure the distance until I look back at the map and see that it changed the points and is a straight line across one of the towns. Unless I am able to kayak down Main Street I don’t think that’s gonna help me much. It makes plotting points very difficult. I wish the app would stick to the points I placed rather than try to find the shortest distance from the first to last point.
I recently used this app to help a group of East Coasters navigate paddling around Central Idaho. It was super helpful. This resource represents a game changer for paddling just like Trail Forks has been a game changer for cycling.
I’ve always wanted something like this!!! Thank you for making such a great app and making the layers available on the free version, especially the POIs :)
Flows, temps, rapids, put ins… Already an impressive amount of data and looking forward to the community getting on board to adding more and more live information.
I appreciate the updated and more accurate beta for whitewater rivers. A great resource for all who recreate on water!
Incredibly helpful and accurate
It’s like Trailforks for rivers. I don’t know of another interactive river mapping app that also has river ratings, gps points for river features, etc.
I am pretty stoked to find a new app that can help me find and research new runs and see where I am at while on a stretch of river. Stoked on this!
I love this app for finding new paddling locations.
This app was literally so helpful on our last five day river trip! The GPS location works the whole way, and really helped us figure out stopping points, great beaches, and helped us better time manage our trip! I can’t wait to see them expand into more rivers throughout. it’s definitely worth the small fee per year! Very few complaints for such a new app! I would like to see a check-in point at different beaches, so people will know what beaches are taken. It also needs to be fine tuned in acc
Unless paying the app doesn’t let you see much, currently it’s not worth it to pay for the subscription but that may change as it receives updates.
I agree with a lot of the comments about the need for more rivers, etc. My constructive criticism is that while the interface looks good on my iPhone, it is almost unusable on my iPad. I have the large screen pro with tons of memory and the latest iOS. It looks like a blown up phone screen but half the words are only visible. While I’m excited to use it ob my phone, I’d prefer to do any trip planning on the larger screen of the iPad. I cannot talk to whether this is an issue on any other platfor
These people are doing a really great job with this app so far. I'm just starting out rafting and I really appreciate all the super useful information I've gotten so far. Thanks for the good work! Totally worth the cost.
I love what this app has going so far…maybe they could have saved themselves some of the more mean-spirited reviews by putting BETA in all caps all over. For the info so far it’s a great way to navigate to see different river conditions. Easier than the web browser pages many rely on. I hope this can become a one-stop shop for gauge, CFS, put-in/take-out, parking, restrooms, fees, so we’re not jumping around different apps and sites to plan trips. Meanwhile I appreciate that the named rapids in
I’ve been looking for an app that makes getting on the water easier. I’m stuck in a rut of going to the same place to paddle over and over again.
2 Negative User Reviews for Paddle Ways
It would be nice if some features were available in the free version. It’s just a map unless you pay.
I think this has potential; but there are significant gaps in the river data. How are rivers added? How can users submit real time beta? From southern Idaho, popular runs are missing. Payette: Cabarton, Canyon, Swirly Canyon. Boise River: No data I think the price point is reasonable if the data is there. At this time, I cannot renew after the trial ends.
