21 Positive User Reviews for Permission Slip by CR

Over charged

It said this was $59.99. I was charged $68.88. I cannot talk to anyone about this extra charge We have been working on this. The permission Slip people have worked to help me find the answer that they did not charge more than the $59.99. I paid with Apple Pay and they sent me a statement that included other subscriptions but did not list them. I thought it was all charged by PS. This is a good company to deal with.

Consumer Reports Recommended

I love the concepts of these types of data privacy apps. My issue is who may be on the other end. Are they selling a bill of goods? Are they truthful and reliable? I’m willing to give a CR recommended app the benefit of the doubt.

Not life changing

I thought the entire premise would be that the app would do all the work for you. Not the case in over 95 percent of companies listed that I have accounts with right now. If you would like to opt out, here is a link. Now go do what the app said it would do.

Legit works

They are an independent and nonprofit they only ask for donations. They also went through the time to go through the terms and conditions of these companies, so you know exactly what data can be collected from you. I know it works because occasionally I get a reply email from whatever company had my data!

Fabulous app!

This is such a handy app especially since you can’t even explore a website without adding your email!! This does all the work for you by sending a report, telling the company to track you, and deleting the data they collected.

Great product, but one odd thing

I enjoyed this app/service, and the fact that there’s no charge makes it a great place to start taking back some of your privacy. One odd thing I just noticed: I got a feedback request email from the app. When I clicked to give feedback, it took me to a Google Docs form. Google? I mean, data mining is kind of a thing everywhere, but isn’t the purpose of this app to encourage people to remove their data from organizations that have less than stellar privacy protections?

Notes and Multiple email addresses problem

Great idea but - could/should help keep track of which companies I’ve requested to opt-out from. Can't be totally automated I realize if I opt-out via a website but a notes area or a button to indicate I've done the web form on X date would help my memory - I second the reviewer who points out that sending a bundle of my email addresses together is actually the opposite of helpful if (when) the receiver combines the addresses into one identity. The solution seems simple though: Send each addres

Doesn’t seem to do anything

I am all for the the idea of this app. I have previously sent several requests manually to companies, and would love to have something that makes the process easier. However the app’s requests don’t seem to work. I had sent in multiple requests several months ago, of which one was successful, two got responses from the company for more info, and the rest are in infinite pending limbo. Compare this to manual requests which get responses within a day. I’d love it if it worked but so far it seems l

Update frozen

Great app when it began. Today (1/29/24), I go email about update. Clicked link. Opened app. Again and again. It’s frozen. No way to use it. Hope it’s fixed soon. I like it when it works. Can give only 3 stars now.

Is this actually working for anyone?

Three months after submitting 12 requests, only 2 have gone through (Home depot & ATT). Everything else is "in progress" or "manual submission". Not a very high success rate.

Love it!

What A gtrat app

Great tool

Love what you’re doing for consumer protections. Brilliant idea and the app is easy to use. Keep up the good work!

Appreciate having the service

Due to my limitation in technology and the change of technology. To have some thing that can assist me in removing my private information is very much appreciated

Permission slip

So far so good. My exposure to this app is limited, so I can’t in all honesty give it a 5* just yet.

Great idea - UI enhancements needed

Fantastic idea and the app does seem to work to remove your data from third parties. 4 stars because sometimes the app displays a screen that the user cannot take action on (I.e., you’re stuck). I’m running most current iOS.

Logging in

I set up an account and contacted my companies to either delete my information, or ‘Do not sell my Information. Today, however, I am unable to log into my account. It gives me an error, and will not let me reset my password. I am getting follow-up emails from the companies that I notified. Weird.

5 Negative User Reviews for Permission Slip by CR

Kind of disappointing

This is a great concept. Execution leaves much to be desired. I was able to send out a handful of requests before it ran out of suggestions. Two granted, one denied, the rest perpetually “under review”. Neither great nor awful, but there’s no way I would pay $60 per year or $20 per month(!) for the “plus” version after the lackluster performance of the base version.

Unable to report a company

Great idea, but I question if it will really work. Looking to request that they add a data broker that they are missing. I am able to fill out the form, but the app will not let me submit it.

Will not stay logged in

A good effort but seems worse over time. Every time I open the app I’m logged out. I use “Sign in with Apple” and suspect they don’t like this, or possibly some tracking protection on my network. Either way it’s a poor experience. And as others have said, if you use multiple address or email addresses you must expose them all in every request. Not great.

Does this app do anything?

After using the app nearly 9 months I deleted it and my account. Most of my requests either went unanswered or were denied. I gave 2 stars because deleting my account was super easy, which is not the norm in my experience.

Time Consuming

App was a lot of work and most key features simply led to a page that said, “submit on your own”, because the app couldn’t do it. I still used it until today when sign-in no longer worked, as if I’d never used the app. and data had been deleted.
