It's far from feature parity with instagram but its a great open source option, you can host your own content privately with friends, say you are in a frat or sorority, have someone host a pixelfed instance and you could have your own instagram (just dont federate lol) I really get the appeal of private social media where you could make your own instances with friends for like twitter, ig clones and then only federate (link) with servers of people you know like and trust Upside being you and y

Please add ability to mute hashtags. It would make it easier to clean up my feed.

This is the first time I’ve ever reviewed an app. This app is well made, but a bit buggy here and there. Searches can turn the app completely black, the explore section could use more variety, and I think automatically following the platform’s social and the developer’s social is a bit conceded and should be optional at account creation rather than forced in the beginning. Other than that, the app seems pretty solid and has potential to be a great instagram competitor.

I’m starting to love this app again and the fact they finally added stories to the platform. I’m blessed enough to be back on here. I love Pixelfed . I do hope they bring music to stories as well! So it brings more action. Otherwise I’m happy for this.

With the way the internet has grown and “matured” over the decades I cannot stress enough how nice it is to use an app that isn’t buried underneath a neverending sewage-storm of ads. The interface is clean and pleasant to use. That being said, my goodness is it ever SLOOOWWW! WiFi or cellular, it doesn’t matter. At best there’s a noticeable lag. At worst I’m sitting here looking at blurry images and blank spaces that haven’t loaded yet. At best I deal with it. At worst I give up and go do someth

I enjoy the change of pace using this platform over others, but lately the app feels like it’s degraded. It constantly crashes when I try to do basic things like view a profile or add a photo. If I can’t do those things without crashing, what is the point?
