Prado Museum - Madrid App Reviews

This app really made our day at the Prado. We did not feel overwhelmed as the app has different itineraries to navigate the huge number of paintings. There is a useful map showing the rooms with the paintings in your itinerary highlighted. Each painting is eloquently described in a very informative way. Highly recommended!

You could soend days wandering in the Prado without a guide to find the masterpieces. Museum audio guides rarely say “now skip six rooms, turn left and there’s the Velazquez.” This handy app gets you through all the greats in 2-1/2 hours, with commentary. Ignore the reviews that complain about the app not having the correct locations of the paintings. Museums move canvases around for special exhibits, loans and cleaning. If something isn’t where the app says, ask one of the red-scarved guards.

The Prado rooms are difficult to navigate for want of room IDs. This app does not help much with that, but it does help a lot with background and narrative about the major works. The museum-supplied map is nearly useless because the rooms themselves are not clearly labeled.

Many of the paintings are not where the map shows. Nice commentaries when you can find the corresponding painting.

Like a trip back to Madrid and a week in the Prado. Wonderful presentation!
