I’ve realized it’s surprisingly often I need a very specific photo that Apple Photos or Google Photos just can’t handle with its basic object search. But Queryable is able to handle these complex scenarios nearly every time! “Pizza box secured to a bicycle with cargo straps”? - got it! “Black cat loafing on a piece of styrofoam”? - no problem! And entirely locally?? Super impressive. Apple really needs to hire the person behind this app and integrate it into Apple Photos.
I wish there were a way to choose which clip model to use for generating keywords/captions.
Does what it says on the tin, very quickly!
I bought this because I was interested in the technology (read about it on HN) but this app has been surprisingly useful. I have a lot of photos on my phone, and it’s great to be able to find photos containing an object. I use it about once every two weeks. I wish the native Photos search was this good. I also appreciate that all of the machine learning is done on device in a privacy preserving way. Apple should buy this app.
This app is exactly what I’ve been looking for to search through my 20,000-photo library. Often I have a specific photo I’ve taken in my mind, but I don’t remember when. This app lets me search for it even on the subway. With the recent support for image similarity search, this is a must-buy for anyone who wants good tools to sort through their photos.
Great app for searching photos. The only thing that’s missing is multiple select. Please add this feature. Users will be able to search and remove unwanted photos from the library much faster than with stock photos app.
I love this app. Works great on mac/iOS. Fast and accurate. I also appreciate the offline design. Thank you for caring about our privacy. If I could ask for a feature, it would to be work with arbitrary folders on MacOS (not just the photos library). Either way, thank you.
Definitely better than the native iOS photo search. Search results sometimes give weird results, but that’s because the model isn’t perfect and not the app’s fault.
The UI is very simple and will benefit from some polish, but this works perfectly on my 14 Pro. Make sure to let the index complete the first time you run the app. The search quality is really impressive. I can find every Simpsons meme in my saved photos, every picture I’ve ever taken at an art museum, every picture I’ve taken of a neon sign, every selfie I took with my old roommate at a bar. This really feels like the future. Big thanks to the dev, I really appreciate having this.
Really cool to see what a more refined image search implementation can look like on apple products. This app on its own seems more like a demonstration of the tech to me than a utility I’ll find myself using regularly but I’m going to keep it for those times when photos search fails me. I hope apple ultimately decides to build their search around this tech and keep their models updated so that everybody can benefit from better search. Thanks to the developer for showing us a practical applicat
Read about this on HN. Love that it doesn’t require network privileges. Works well on my iPhone 13. Wish that I could swipe left and right afyer selecting a photo from search, but hopefully this gets resolved in future!
Saw on HackerNews and thought I would give it a shot. I am on an iPhone 12 Pro and it maybe took 30 seconds to index roughly 2,200 images. The ability to search for a described scene is fast and performs well. I had some false negatives, but the result set always had the photo I was describing in it. Are the photos ordered by similarity to the query? It would be nice to order results by timestamp or filter by location.
Improvements - hard to look at each image (can’t swipe left or right, must tap each image) - no way to open the image in the photos app after finding it - no way to share the image from the app - can’t zoom in Mostly just stuff centered around the image viewer. There should be some open-source library you can use for this. Best of luck, and thank you
