Highlight Problem

Overall a great app, even though not updated in two years. The problem (Mr. Developer) is that when you try to highlight text the color picker immediately dismisses and returns to edit mode. The text cannot actually be highlighted. I’m sure there are other small issues like this that are a result of changes in the OS over time. That’s why regular updates are important ;)

Best option for Writing on Your Phone

I have tried many ways to write on my phone. Word, notes, etc. scrivener is the best I have found, and then when combined with Dropbox I can use desktop scrivener for editing. Keep up the good work! One very nice potential feature to add would be the ability to do word counts within all the documents within a folder.

Desperately Needs iCloud Support

I love Scrivener. But when the app first appeared Dropbox was the leader in cloud storage, but since then usage has fallen off and Apple’s iCloud has made huge improvements and become the default for Apple users. It would be so much more useful if the iOS version of Scrivener update to allow us to use it to sync with our Macs and other iOS device and to not be stuck in 2012 with Dropbox only.

Update

Please, update this app for the iPhone. Thanks.

WORTH THE MONEY!!

This is 100% worth the money. I didn’t think an app would make much of a difference in my writing but Scrivener is so organized and it’s amazing to have all of my ideas and outlines in one app. As someone who hates clutter, i love to know exactly where everything is and this app allows me to do that! Highly recommended—definitely worth a try.

Works So Far

I absolutely hated and resisted all the marketing for this app and was hesitant to pay upfront. Unfortunately, others wanted subscriptions and had poor functionality. Pleasantly Surprised. Here's the one thing I couldn't have known: I actually like the writing environment and dark mode option in this app. I especially find the zoom very convenient and helpful as I write on an Iphone Mini. So far the UX is better than I could've imagined. I have yet to be disappointed. I just hope they don't

If you write, you need Scrivener

This app not allow allows you to write without distractions, it helps you organize your ideas so you’re writing is more productive. You can organize your thoughts and ideas in any way that works for how you need to think about your writing.

Pretty Great but Full Version is Still Best

This is great to have on ipad and my phone when I need it, however, it’s missing features like templates in the desktop version. It would be so great if I didn’t have to rely on the desktop version and could just carry my ipad around 100% of the time. I would love to see the template feature in included in the next update so that I can use the default included in the desktop version, as well as my own templates.

Compile Options

S I do not usually review apps in this way. I am an author who has used full scrivener for years. I love this app, it allows me to work on my IPad, which is good as I am wheelchair bound, so cannot easily get to where the house computer, which has the full version installed. My only issue is that I cannot compile as ebook for publication. This is something of an annoyance as it prevents me from completing projects where I start them. If a future update could allow for that, this program would be

THE essential long form writing app

I use Scrivener on ALL my devices to write and organize almost everything I write, novels, short stories, poems, scientific articles, working notes, journal, letters to the editor. This is by far the best app for long form fiction. It works so well with all other forms that I rely on it for them, too. Essential software.

I can write wherever I am.

I have both the mobile version as well as the desktop. The apps seamlessly work together on the same projects. I use my desktop at home, the iPad on the road, and my iPhone to quickly capture thoughts or jot down ideas. You could use the iPhone version to write whole novels, but personally I prefer a bigger screen. Love it. It just works.

Love thus app, but PLEASE add ICloud sync support. 🥲

Absolutely love this app. I use it to write comic scripts, the tutorial is very helpful if you’re new to iPad, btw. The only drawback to using this is that I can only sync with Dropbox. Dropbox only allows 2gb of storage on their free plan and it makes no sense for me to pay for their plus plan when I only use it to sync my scrivener files. I LOVE scrivener. I hate Dropbox. 😅🥲 Also, for anyone interested, you can use iCloud to sync, you just have manually transfer your documents to iCloud via

I have on my MacBook

I bought the iPhone app version but realized I don’t like it as much as the desktop so I submitted apple for a refund please. I love scrivener for the desktop and will continue to use it.

Great app

This is an incredible app for writers! I just ask one thing of the developers for the iPad version: if you could please add the desktop-class app functionality that iOS 16 offers! As someone who uses their iPad often, I would find it incredibly helpful if the iPad app could be more robust like the Mac application. Otherwise, it’s still a phenomenal tool! Thank you!

Good for Writing, Horrible for Synchronization

Who uses Dropbox on a Mac, and why would they ever consider using freebie services like that with questionable privacy for something as important as for-profit creative writing? This might be the only app in the App Store that “only” supports Dropbox… I think I am switching to Vellum. I put up with this for 3 or 4 years, I’m done.

Inferior to Mac Version

While i am great full for an iPad version. It is sorely lacking features. For one, color options. I use color coding a lot for my writing and none of the colors transfer over when syncing from Mac to ipad. Syncing is another issue and is abysmal at best. PLEASE update the ipad version to at least read/display the same way i see it on my Mac.

Needs to sync with google drive

Love the desktop version but it’s impractical the iOS version doesn’t sync with google drive like the desktop does.

Great app! I have two main issues

1) The syncing is sketchy and prayer worthy at best. 2) this app needs to be more friendly with the desktop version. For example, I record audio books and i like to color code the characters with desktop version. The iPad version does not translate any color at all. Any visual presentation in one version, should be present in the other.

Needs undo button for floating keyboard

Needs undo button for floating keyboard. The easiest way to type in an iPad is to use the minimized floating keyboard but scrivener does not have an undo/redo button in that form. To undo/redo one has to make the keyboard full-size which is undesirable. Please fix this.

Nice app but..

For some reason I am no longer able to embed images into files. Something has changed. If this was intentional, it was not a good move. It would be nice to have the ability to insert images where needed. I don’t know why you took this feature away.

3 Negative User Reviews for Scrivener

I can’t believe I paid for this

Scrivener on iPad is wonderful and easy to use, until you try to sync to iCloud (you can only do so with Dropbox, which I don’t use and don’t want to pay for!). It’s fantastic until you want to create a PDF of your work, and you can’t, so you have to copy/paste your entire manuscript into Pages, or Word, or whatever. Remind me what the purpose of a writing app is if you’re at risk of losing all your work at any moment, and you cant do anything meaningful with your work once it’s done????Besutifu

Do not waste money if you only use your phone

Thanks for wasting $23 of mine. No different than iPhone notes. Terrible app. Horrible developers. Garbage.

When will there be security in the app?

I’d like to be able to protect the writing I have done. When will there be an easy export and password protection option?
