Just found the app. To my surprise and delight it is free! Thank you for making an app where I can learn something that I have wanted to learn for a long time: ASL! The review quiz is a nice touch, too! Thanks again.
This is a really great app, especially for people who are looking to find one for free. It has lots of topics, and you can review all of them. It also has a dictionary to look up any sign! It’s not exactly like I would prefer it, but great for beginners who want to learn!
There could be more lessons but I get bored really quick there is really nothing to do other than the games, but I am a starter and would like free lessons not just words I don’t know.
Ok the websight they have is way better, with that being said, the quality of this app and the limited lessons is not great. The website has way more features and content, and is over all a great program. This is missing the sync to my account, all the lessons, the finger spelling game, and grammar work along with multiple levels of basic sign. It’s also missing the “my name” lesson
there is no sign for Palestine on here!
I really love the app but I am worried about everyone else has said I am trying to learn sign language and this is a very handy app for it I also love that this app has a lot of things that you can learn on it but there is some words that you can’t find on the app for example teachers or elastic but if it had more learning in it it would be great
I’ve enrolled in a night class to learn ASL. They provide a website for home study but I find that this app is more useful. The only thing missing is a way to ask the app to show you a sign for something specific rather than rooting around trying to find it. Well done otherwise.
I liked this app because of the no charge the easy why to learn and change the speed can help new learners like me
I love this app and it is so helpful in learning but there are no lessons. You can click the category of lessons but it just shows you how to say like a million different things. It doesn’t help you retain anything and some words are missing in the dictionary.
love this app, but there could be more lessons. i do get that they’re still working on it. also, maybe some more common words in the dictionary that you’d use for more common conversations!!
So good I always wanted to do sine language
Each time I go into the app and look up a new sign I desperately want to be able to save it onto a playlist of others signs to categorize them into my own labeled stacks. Having a collection of sign to study then adding slowly onto them is how I feel learning is most effective and would make the process a lot easier. If it could be done it would make my life and anyone who’s learning life’s a lil easier.
I started using this app about a year ago to help me learn more ASL vocabulary so I could talk with the deaf students I drive to/from school. It started off looking a bit like a back alley knockoff of something, but even then it did exactly what I needed it to do and did it reliably. Since this update, it has had a huge facelift and added features that give the app even more value as a learning tool. I highly recommend getting this app if you want to learn ASL and/or improve your vocabulary.
This is one of the first ASL apps I downloaded years ago, it was okay but not great, there weren’t descriptions for signs so if you were looking up the word ‘right’ you had to guess which sign was for the direction and which one meant correct. But the update looks amazing and I really look forward to going through the new features and using this app more. I’m specifically excited about the topics, and the ‘grammar’ section, so few apps teach about the different grammar in ASL so I’m really excit
I’ve enjoyed the app and the updates are making it more enjoyable! The only thing that I would like to see is the “games portion” to be learning in topics! Thank you for helping us to learn!
I have been saying for many years ASL and this is a great tool
Got started using the courses available through the website, but found I wanted to access signs on the go… have no fear, the mobile app is here!.. really like the dictionary function, can’t wait to see more and more concepts added to that! Love the variety of people in the videos ( same people as in the lessons online). And some of the improvements that have been made just since I’ve had the app are pretty exciting! ( sign review for each topic, and soon to come, a lessons section!) great resour
This site is so helpful. I love that you can play in regular and slow motion. Since this isn’t complete with the “lessons” I couldn’t give it a 5 star. I love the “games” that really help me learn at my pace. Dawn
I really like the updated site for the Sign School website. There are wonderful additions giving the viewer more choices and means of learning signs and usage.
The app is good for keeping a bunch of general sign language information on hand. However, it’s not good for learning in my opinion due to the lack of actually lessons. The app currently only shows you what the signs are. They don’t explain the difference between signs that mean the same thing but sign differently. They don’t explain the different body language and facial expressions that go into different signs. Again, it’s great if you just need a refresher or demeanor to keep a bunch of info
Amazing app for learning ASL!!!! The update looks great, and they even improved it further with changes I suggested in my last review. Seriously great job!!! Ty!!!!!
has been my clutch for 8 years, love this app so much. i don’t have asl class anymore, as i learned it in middle school, but this is a great app for a refresher on signs. thank you to the developers for the new updates as well, it’s very organized <3
I wish they would show finger placements for the signs . My daughter is learning ASL in school and my job was offering this app for free, so, I really can’t complain. There are just some signs that I get confused on even when I put it on turtle pace. Also, why do some of them look not so happy ?
Very fun for beginners, a very good resource to familiarize yourself with ASL, I love the fact the you can choose how long or short you study for. Also the sign of the day encourages you to go back into the app!
I love using it whenever. I think of a word that I don’t know in ASL but sadly it’s lacking lot of vocabulary if a word is specific or broad. It is likely not to be on there, but either way, it is a great and simple app to use especially for it being free. :)
This all is okay but I wish there was more close-up of hand movement/finger placement. Even on slow mode it is sometimes difficult to see clearly what is being related.
As a late deafened adult who is frustrated by finger spelling this is an easy way to learn signs. Slow but sure & the price is right! The signers are excellent!
I just feel like this app is missing something. It took a little while to load and I wish it was quicker. I also wish this app DESCRIBED the motions.
I especially appreciate the "regular & turtle" speeds.
I really like this app, because I barely knew sign language and I was using this app and it helped me learn all the letters and numbers under 20 minutes. - appreciate it User
The dictionary has been a lifesaver as I navigate ASL class. ASL can be difficult to translate sometimes, there are no tools like Google translate for an unspoken language, but this app is a very helpful substitute to that technology.
Wish some of the videos could go a little slower. There’s a couple of people from the videos that even when I click slow-mo, they move a little too fast so I can’t see proper finger placement. Otherwise great
Has helped me to learn sign language but the vocabulary could be expanded so plz consider
It’s hand when it works, but the UI is buggy and it often doesn’t respond to taps.
I have a hard time learning languages and I have never learned something quicker than with SignSchool! The only things I would change is to have clarification and definitions of words for context. (Ex is someone being mean versus what did you mean?)
Your g is in a strange angle that I can not understand thank you for filing my complaint
It is super good for a free app
I thought it was a good app because it is simple, organized, you can search up the word you wanna know and it has live references that you can slow down to watch for better understanding
It’s great for learning vocabulary, not so much the actual language. Only flaw is that lately it’s been crashing any time I try to open it.
This app is much better than it was the last time I downloaded it. The videos are clear and the app is easy to use. I especially like the topics, and the dictionary feature is awesome.
Straightforward app but would be nice to organize with a favorites tab :))
The app itself is very useful but needs some tweaks. Some sections don’t load and just leaves a blank screen. But the app is alright.

hi, so I got this app because I wanted to learn sign language and then I was doing great, but then it kind of just deleted itself. But I wanna talk about the actual app itself. so tbh the lessons aren’t great. There’s a thing where there’s a word of the day but you can’t do multiple words a day only one word. and if you miss a day, it doesn’t show you the original word. There’s a dictionary, but it doesn’t have most of the words I need and that’s kind of upsetting but the video qualities is goo
The black guy is very fast and not clear at all
The signers have an ‘attitude.’ Other than that it’s great! Sadly, I do not recommend this to my students because the signers have an attitude.
